Fu Nanxiao remained silent.
He looked out the window, his expression cold as he withdrew his hand.
Jiang Yilai's heart sank.
This attitude clearly indicates that there is no room for negotiation.
The two of them parted on bad terms as soon as the topic of children came up.
Back at the villa, Jiang Yilai went to her bedroom without saying a word.
Fu Nanxiao watched her retreating figure, his brows furrowed with helplessness and sorrow.
He didn't follow them, but went to the study instead.
Fu Nanxiao sat in the chair and rubbed his temples wearily.
The night was deep, and all around was quiet, but he was filled with loneliness and inner turmoil, like a trapped beast.
After a long pause, he finally picked up his phone and dialed a number.
The call was connected.
Fu Nanxiao greeted him in fluent English in a low voice: "Hello, Dr. Andrew."
It was morning in England.
Andrew seemed to be walking in a hurry, his voice gentle and with a standard London accent: "Good morning, Mr. Fu."
Before Fu Nanxiao could ask, he said, "Mr. Fu, my affairs here are nearing completion. I will be going to China with your grandfather in a few days."
"welcome."
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Fu Nanxiao seemed to have made up his mind. He slowly said, "Dr. Andrew, would you mind having one more patient?"
Jiang Yilai had no idea what was happening in the study.
After washing up, she lay down on the bed.
I thought she would be too angry to sleep, but probably because her physical strength and energy had decreased a lot since she got pregnant, she often felt very tired. She fell into a drowsy sleep soon after lying down.
But I never sleep well.
Late at night, Jiang Yilai felt a hand stroking between her eyebrows in her dream, as if trying to smooth out her furrowed brow.
The warm temperature made her feel comfortable and relaxed.
Jiang Yilai whimpered and stirred, trying to open her eyes to see who it was.
But the next moment, she felt as if she were being held in someone's arms.
"Go to sleep." The gentle, deep voice made Jiang Yilai instantly lower her guard and fall into a deep sleep.
The next day.
When Jiang Yilai woke up early in the morning, she was all alone in the bedroom.
For some reason, she felt a little lost.
She casually finished washing up, picked up her bag, and went downstairs. When she arrived at the restaurant, she looked around.
"The gentleman had an urgent matter and went to the company early this morning."
Uncle Liu appeared out of nowhere, carrying a plate, and explained with a smile.
Jiang Yilai was startled.
She sat down in her seat and nodded awkwardly, "I understand."
Uncle Liu placed the milk in front of her and handed her a folded piece of paper: "Madam, this is for you from the master."
"What's this?"
"I don't know. The master said he'd show you when you eat."
Jiang Yilai had no choice but to accept it.
She opened—
A portrait came into view.
It's her.
Jiang Yilai recognized her at a glance; it was the same image of her sleeping last night.
In the picture, she is sleeping soundly with a smile on her lips, as if she is having a sweet dream.
Jiang Yilai's lips couldn't help but curl up slightly.
The frustration I felt inexplicably subsided.
She looked up and saw Uncle Liu looking at her and smiling.
She coughed lightly and folded the drawing paper: "Fu Nanxiao... can also draw."
You really can't tell, and it's actually drawn quite well.
Uncle Liu smiled and said, "Of course, there was a lot to learn when you were young. But later the old master made you focus on managing the company and didn't allow you to waste your time on frivolous things."
