The next day, Jiang Yilai went to school in the afternoon as usual, and Fu Nanxiao still had someone drive over to pick her up.
The atmosphere between the two was somewhat subdued, and neither of them spoke first.
Halfway through the drive, Fu Nanxiao's phone rang.
His gaze darkened, and he turned to Jiang Yilai, saying, "You go back first, I have some things to take care of."
Jiang Yilai paused for a moment, then said, "Just drop me off anywhere. My friend invited me to dinner."
She wasn't lying; she had just received a message from Sun Yufei saying that she had just made an appointment at a restaurant and asked her to come along.
Fu Nanxiao's gaze darkened, his eyes fixed intently on Jiang Yilai, with a hint of scrutiny.
Jiang Yilai shook her phone helplessly and explained, "It was Sun Yufei who invited me; she's my best friend."
Fu Nanxiao didn't speak, but silently withdrew his gaze: "After you're done making your appointment, call Qi Yuheng and ask him to pick you up and take you home."
Jiang Yilai paused for a moment, then nodded gently.
Fu Nanxiao asked for her address again and took Jiang Yilai there to meet up with Sun Yufei.
As Sun Yufei watched Fu Nanxiao's car drive away, she couldn't help but smile and say to Jiang Yilai, "Lai Lai, your husband is so considerate!"
She already knew that the owner of the Rolls-Royce was Jiang Yilai's husband.
Jiang Yilai paused, unsure of what to say.
She changed the subject in a low voice: "Didn't you say you had a restaurant reservation? Let's go there."
Sun Yufei smiled meaningfully, then led Jiang Yilai into the car.
When they arrived at their destination, Jiang Yilai discovered that Sun Yufei had made an appointment with the newly opened music restaurant, the one she had gone to with Fu Nanxiao last time.
Sun Yufei excitedly pulled Jiang Yilai through the door and into the private room, saying excitedly, "Yilai, this restaurant is so hard to book! I heard their food is exquisite and the music is great!"
Jiang Yilai couldn't help but laugh: "It's my treat today. These dishes are all pretty good and suit your taste."
As she spoke, she clicked on the menu a few times.
Sun Yufei immediately looked at Jiang Yilai with amusement and teased, "Looks like your husband brought you here before~"
Jiang Yilai couldn't help but feel a little helpless, and whispered to Sun Yufei, "Don't say that, the two of us..."
"Ladies, I'm sorry."
