Chapter 571 Panic and Disorientation

Luo Chen thought he would behave himself with the police present, but to his surprise, he refused to change his story, which angered Luo Chen so much that he wanted to teach him a lesson.

Jiang Yilai stopped him from doing it because of his position; he couldn't do such a thing, to avoid the driver using the police beating the injured person as an excuse.

Moreover, she could tell that the driver was an experienced one, someone who knew what people were thinking.

Jiang Yilai pretended to be in a difficult position.

"Officer Luo, please don't get agitated. Originally, we just wanted to seek justice for the victim through the law, but he is now stubborn and there's nothing we can do."

Luo Chen said angrily, "How can there be no way? I'll beat him until he tells the truth."

“I told you not to be so impulsive. You're not the one who really wants to get back at him. During our visit today, you saw how emotional the family members were, especially the families of the two deceased.”

Upon hearing this, the driver perked up his ears, but it seemed that Jiang Yilai had no intention of continuing.

Luo Chen immediately understood what she meant and chimed in, "Yeah, that's right. We originally wanted to save him, but it seems we can only let him fend for himself."

"So, we don't really need to worry about his case anymore, since he's not going to survive anyway."

"That's true, he's not cooperating, so the police can't worry about that much."

"In that case, let's go. Let him fend for himself."

"Agreed."

The two finished their conversation and left, which made the driver uneasy. He called out to them as they were about to walk out the door.

"Wait a minute, what did you mean by what you just said?"

He thought the two would answer, but they ignored him completely and walked away, making him even more flustered.

Unfortunately, he was injured and couldn't leave the scene, so he could only shout towards the door: "Attorney Jiang, Officer Luo, come back. I still have some things to explain."

The two people outside the door exchanged a glance, then ignored him and strode away.

The driver muttered to himself, "Oh no, what do they mean? Does this mean my injuries are too severe to survive? No, the doctor said that although they are serious, they can be cured."

He looked at Yang Jiexing, who was standing silently beside him, and asked anxiously, "Attorney Yang, what were they saying just now?"

Yang Jiexing asked, "Mr. Zhang, are all the things you said to me true? You really didn't bully those students, and you didn't hit anyone."

"Of course not, I'm a law-abiding citizen and I've never bullied anyone." The driver feigned innocence, determined not to admit to what he had done.

Yang Jiexing bluntly pointed out: "If you are really a good citizen, why do you violate the law by overloading? You were even detained for half a year a few years ago because of an accident."

"This...this is not your business. Just listen to me, you are the lawyer I paid to hire, so you have to find a way to protect me, otherwise you will not get a penny if you lose the case."

When the driver realized that reasoning with him wouldn't work, he resorted to threats.

Yang Jiexing sighed: "You may not know this, but the lawyer Jiang who just came here used to be my boss. She has never had a failed case."

After hearing this, the driver felt his head spin and angrily said, "What do you mean? Are you saying you can't beat her?"

"What I mean is that if you lie, you will definitely lose. And what they were referring to just now was probably the situation with the deceased's family. If they feel they can't punish you, they are very likely to resort to extreme measures."

Yang Jiexing conveyed their meaning perfectly, leaving the driver flustered and bewildered.
