Chapter 262 The Big Secret

Jiang Weijie's face turned slightly pale.

He suddenly became angry and said, "What secrets could there be! This is just a project with no future and that burns through money! Jiang Yilai, if you have evidence, go to the police station and report me. If you don't have evidence, get out of my house!"

Jiang Yilai sneered: "Whether you sent someone to set the fire or not, an investigation will find out. But since you're in detention, I'll have someone take good care of the Jiang family."

"Jiang Yilai, how dare you!"

"Why wouldn't I dare?" Jiang Yilai said coldly, "Either you tell me about Qin Yuyuan and the pendant now, or we'll meet at the police station. I just don't know what will happen to the Jiang family after you're released!"

Jiang Weijie's eyes widened: "You're threatening me?!"

Jiang Yilai stared at him without saying a word.

Jiang Weijie's face was a mixture of emotions, his lips twitched incessantly, and his brows and eyes were furrowed, as if he were struggling with something.

His face contorted in pain, but in the end, he said with a grim expression, "I know nothing about Qin Yuyuan or the pendant!"

Jiang Yilai gave him a deep look, then turned and left.

Jiang Weijie cursed behind her back: "If you really send me to the police station, everyone will despise you! You unfilial daughter, I shouldn't have let you be born!"

Jiang Yilai pretended not to hear his swearing.

She went downstairs with a cold face, and Ah Kang followed behind her.

Once in the car, Jiang Yilai closed her eyes and leaned back in her seat.

She kept replaying Jiang Weijie's expression in her mind.

Clearly, he felt guilty.

Jiang Weijie is good at weighing the pros and cons. Today, she threatened him with the arson. If he has enough bargaining chips, he will definitely bring them out.

But he preferred to go to the police station rather than reveal anything related to the incident.

This only proves that Qin Yuyuan's project, and his mother's background, are a secret even bigger than the future of the Jiang family.

Jiang Yilai frowned.

She felt as if she were surrounded by layers of fog that she couldn't clear, leaving her feeling utterly lost.

Just then, I heard Ah Kang's voice: "Madam, I was waiting for you outside the study, and I took a stroll around the Jiang family's house again. I found these photos in the storage room."

Jiang Yilai opened her eyes and saw a photo album handed to her by Akang.

She took it.

The album had an old-fashioned design and was covered in dust. A-Kang tried to wipe it, but couldn't remove the stains at all. It looked like a piece of trash left in a corner.

Jiang Yilai lifted it.

The first thing you see is a woman with a gentle appearance and a smiling expression in her eyes.

A woman is holding a little girl in her arms. The two stand in front of the Ferris wheel in the amusement park and smile at the camera together.

Jiang Yilai sat up straight.

A strange, sour feeling rushed into my nasal cavity.

Her eyes instantly reddened.

The woman resembled her by about seven or eight points.

Jiang Yilai recognized her immediately; it was her mother, Qin Shi.

This is a photo of the second time she saw her mother.

Last time, Jiang Weijie posted a photo of his mother with the Jiang Group building so that she could borrow money to buy it.

And this is a photo of her and her mother.

Jiang Yilai stroked the woman's face with her fingers.

In the previous photo, Mom looked like a capable career woman, but in this one, she's holding me with such tenderness in her eyes.

Jiang Yilai seemed to remember the scene of her mother holding her and gently coaxing her to sleep.

Tears welled up in my eyes.

Her heart felt a mix of sourness and turmoil.

Jiang Yilai took out the photo, turned it over, and saw a line of delicate handwriting on the back.

"A memento of my little girl's second birthday. Mommy loves you."
