Fu Nanxiao took her out to play until after 10 p.m. before returning home. When they got back to the living room, they saw Grandma Fu sitting alone on the sofa.
The living room was quiet with the TV off and the lights dimmed. The old lady sat there blankly, her back view looking so lonely.
The two exchanged a glance, and Jiang Yilai stepped forward.
"Grandma, why aren't you asleep so late?"
The old lady only came to her senses when she heard her voice. She turned around and saw the two holding hands, and a relieved smile appeared on her face.
"Seeing you two so loving makes me so happy."
Jiang Yilai could tell that she missed her husband, so she gently patted her shoulder.
"Grandma, don't think too much. If you feel bored, just invite a few of your old friends to go on a trip."
“I am living a very fulfilling life now. I tell my two children stories to help them fall asleep at night. The happiest thing for me every day is being by their side.”
"They are becoming more and more dependent on you, and they remember all the good things you do for them."
"I am content to have you all by my side in my old age."
Jiang Yilai rubbed her shoulders. "I'll take you back to your room, and then we can chat for a while."
Grandma Fu smiled and nodded, then looked at Fu Nanxiao and said, "It seems you'll have to stay alone tonight. I have a lot to talk to Lai Lai about."
Her grandson was not good with words, and the two of them couldn't get along, so the old lady would tell Jiang Yilai about everything.
Fu Nanxiao shrugged: "It's alright, as long as you're happy."
Jiang Yilai gave him an approving look; his willingness to agree so readily this time was already a good improvement.
As the two lay in bed that night, the old lady sighed and said, "Junhao came today and told me a lot of things."
No wonder it affected the old lady's mood; it must have been something about the old man.
"Grandma, it's all over now. Nan Xiao will handle it."

Jiang Yilai held her hand and could sense that she was somewhat agitated.

“Lai Lai, tell him not to worry about me, just do what he needs to do, I will support him.”
Jiang Yilai was somewhat surprised. She thought the old lady had summoned her to try and quell the feud between the uncle and nephew, but she didn't expect the old lady to show no favoritism whatsoever.
Perhaps they were worried that Fu Jiang would treat them the way the old man had treated them before, so they decided it was better to resolve the issue once and for all.
Grandma Fu choked up and said, "I'll pretend I never had such a cruel beast as him."
"Grandma, don't think about it. Right now, your health is the most important thing for us. Nan Xiao has his own plans, and we just need to wait for him to make arrangements."
What surprised Jiang Yilai was why Fu Junhao would come and say these things, and whether he had other motives.
Logically speaking, this should be a secret that Fu Jiang wanted to keep to himself, but he told the old lady such an important secret. Wasn't he afraid of getting into trouble?
