Chapter 189, /.

Ye Ningwan approached Madam Pei little by little and whispered a few words in her ear.

Snap!

Ye Ningwan snapped her fingers and then stood up.

"Alright, I've temporarily restored her sanity through hypnosis. As for whether she can fully recover from this trauma, that depends on herself. After all, medicine isn't witchcraft; it's not a panacea!"

Madam Pei gradually calmed down, and her empty, numb eyes slowly regained their former clarity.

She looked up at Ye Ningwan standing in front of her, seemingly only now realizing what was happening.

Madam Pei threw aside the curtains she was clutching tightly in her hands and gritted her teeth, trying to stand up.

"Ye Ningwan, what are you doing here? Did you come to see me make a fool of myself?!"

Madam Pei struggled to stand up, but her limbs were too weak and she sat back down. She tried to grab the curtains several times, but instead of succeeding, she pulled half of the curtains off her head.

Ye Ningwan took two steps back speechlessly, glanced at the glass that Madam Pei had tossed aside, and quickly looked away, as if nothing had happened, and smiled at Madam Pei.

"Madam, you misunderstand. Do I look like that kind of person?"

Madam Pei glared angrily at Ye Ningwan, thinking to herself.

You are not just like that, you are exactly that kind of person!

Then she heard Ye Ningwan say innocently to her.

"I just brought my sister-in-law's personal assistant with me, I didn't do anything."

Madam Pei was taken aback when she heard this.

Immediately, her neck stiffened and began to turn.

A faint, clicking sound of machinery seemed to echo in the air.

It was only a short while, but time seemed to stretch out infinitely.

In the end, it was Zhang Qin who spoke first, addressing Madam Pei.

"Madam..."

After just that one sound.

Suddenly, Madam Pei forcefully picked up the glass of water beside her and threw it at Zhang Qin.

"You dare to come here!"

With a bang.

The glass water glass fell to the ground and shattered into countless tiny shards.

Zhang Qin covered his forehead, swayed slightly, and used his other hand to hold onto the back of the sofa, barely managing to stand up straight.

Fresh blood seeped from between Zhang Qin's fingers, dripping onto the ground.

Madam Pei, with a sudden burst of strength, struggled to her feet and lunged at Zhang Qin, grabbing his collar as if she wanted to snap his neck.

"Where have you been? Is this how you do the things I asked you to do?! Zhang Qin, you're a piece of trash! What are you good for? What use are you to me?"

Zhang Qin's collar was tightened around his neck, but he didn't struggle at all. He just looked at Madam Pei with guilt, lowered his head, and apologized in a low voice.

"I'm sorry, Madam. It's all my fault. Please punish me."

Snap!

A slap landed hard on Zhang Qin's face.

Zhang Qin's face was slapped to the side, and blood seeped from the corner of his lips. The hand that was covering his forehead fell down, and blood kept flowing from the wound on his forehead caused by the glass. His face was covered in blood, which even dripped onto the light-colored Chinese-style dress worn by Madam Pei, like the petals of a blooming plum blossom, so beautiful yet so decadent.

"I'll punish you? What good will it do you! You piece of trash! You can't even do a proper job, why don't you just die! How dare you show your face to me!"

"Do you know that you've killed me?!"

"I've become like this because of you! What did you promise me? You said you'd risk your life to help me! Why are you still alive?"

Madam Pei raised her hand again, and while speaking, she slapped Zhang Qin more than a dozen times, the sound of the slaps filling the narrow space.

Suddenly, Zhang Qin grasped Madam Pei's raised hand.

The two gold bracelets on her wrists jingled and clanged. Her once plump wrists had become thinner due to months of hard work and worry, and they could no longer support the two gold bracelets.

Madam Pei struggled a few times, but Zhang Qin's fingers were too tight, causing Madam Pei's face to turn pale with pain. She couldn't break free from Zhang Qin's grasp for a long time, and she gritted her teeth and cursed.

"Zhang Qin, you heartless ingrate! You have no conscience! How dare you lay a hand on me! Have you forgotten who picked you up from the mud and raised you when you were begging for a living like a dog? If it weren't for me, you would have starved to death long ago!"

Zhang Qin's eyes flickered slightly, but he did not loosen his grip on Madam Pei's wrist.

His throat was hoarse and dry, as if it had been rubbed by sand and gravel.

“The First Madam is angry and can hit me however she wants, but your hand is injured.”

Zhang Qin took Madam Pei's hand in front of him, opened her palm, and gently ran his fingers over it, wiping away the bloodstains to reveal her red and hot palm with a thin wound.

This was caused by Madam Pei accidentally scratching Zhang Qin's tie clip.

It was clearly just a small wound, and he was in a much worse state than Madam Pei, yet Zhang Qin, who hadn't shown any expression even after being beaten like that, looked at it with sorrow and even more guilt in his eyes.

Madam Pei gave a cold sneer, forcefully pulled her hand back, and slapped Zhang Qin across the face again.

Don't give me that!

"Zhang Qin, let me tell you, don't think I'll let you off the hook just because you used this method! I don't need useless people around me!"

Madam Pei pointed towards the doorway and coldly gave her orders, word by word.

"Get out of here right now! I never want to see you, you piece of trash, again!"
