Ye Ningwan frowned; she had planned to use this matter for something else.
Unexpectedly...
Just as Ye Ningwan was about to speak to stop her, Madam Pei seemed to realize something and continued speaking before Old Master Pei could even react.
"The sister-in-law and the man were having an ambiguous relationship in the hospital's break room."
In an instant, everyone in the tea room who was unaware of the matter was plunged into extreme shock.
How...how is this possible?
Everyone in the Pei family knew that although Madam Pei was superficial and spoiled, and seemed difficult to get along with, she was actually not a bad person and was extremely loyal to her family.
This kind of thing would happen to any of the other ladies in this family, but not to Madam Pei.
Clearly, Old Master Pei thought the same thing.
Old Master Pei coughed heavily, his face extremely grim, and reprimanded Madam Pei in a stern voice.
"Second son's wife, don't talk nonsense without evidence! The eldest son's wife has been by my side the longest all these years. Others may not know, but do you think I don't?"
Madam Pei looked unwell.
She knew very well that Old Master Pei was angry!
Madam Pei swallowed hard, her throat dry and sour.
But now she has nowhere to go.
She stepped forward and slapped the photos she had prepared in advance in front of Old Master Pei.
"I have evidence!"
Grandpa Pei looked down at the photos in front of him.
From this angle, Ye Ningwan and Pei Fengzhi could also see it clearly.
In the top photo, Madam Pei is being pinned down by a greasy man with a lewd appearance. The man is wearing a dark blue Taoist robe, and his hair is tied up in a small tuft on top of his head, but because he has so little hair, he looks even bald.
Old Master Pei's face grew increasingly gloomy, clearly indicating a misunderstanding.
However, only Ye Ningwan, who knew the whole story, knew the truth.
Looking at the photo in Old Master Pei's hand and then at his expression, Madam Pei knew perfectly well that Old Master Pei had already believed most of it.
She immediately seized the opportunity, took out her handkerchief, shed a few tears in front of Grandpa Pei, sniffled, and choked out.
"Everyone in this family knows that my sister-in-law is the most loyal and faithful. When I found out about this, I couldn't believe it at all! But this is a big deal, and I think I should tell my father about it. If it's false, I can apologize to my sister-in-law after the truth is found out."
Snap!
Without any hesitation, Old Master Pei slammed the photos he was holding onto the tea table in front of him, his usually kind face darkening with gloom.
"Eldest daughter-in-law, what's going on?"
Jiang Yinglin clearly hadn't expected things to develop this way.
He originally intended to take Madam Pei away directly, but now he had no choice but to stop and wait to see how Madam Pei would react.
Madam Pei struggled, and Jiang Yinglin took the opportunity to release his grip on her hands.
Madam Pei staggered toward Old Master Pei, glancing down at the messy photos scattered on the tea table.
In an instant, Madam Pei's expression changed drastically. She rushed forward like a madwoman and tore the photos into pieces.
Colorful confetti flew everywhere, surging down like butterflies with broken wings, a scene of desolation and despair.
Madam Pei stared intently at Old Master Pei, her face, now devoid of makeup, was pale and haggard, and she screamed at the top of her lungs.
"If I have ever done anything to betray this family, may I be struck by lightning and torn to pieces!"
Madam Pei gasped for breath, her slightly yellowed whites gradually becoming stained with blood.
"Let my son and husband both reject me! Let me die alone! Let me not be buried in the Pei family's ancestral grave!"
Old Master Pei's brows furrowed into a deep frown.
He knew very well Madam Pei's temperament.
Madam Pei valued her family above all else. In her life, the most important people were her two sons, followed by her husband, and then herself.
Her greatest fear was that her family would break up and that no one would take care of her in her old age and see her off when she died, leaving her to die alone and lonely in a foreign land.
Since Madam Pei could swear on her own son and husband, it shows that she truly has a clear conscience.
Grandpa Pei pressed his temples, feeling a headache coming on.
Seeing this, Madam Pei the Second couldn't help but worry that Old Master Pei would let Madam Pei the First go.
How is that possible?
Although the person she hated most was Pei Fengzhi, that did not mean she didn't hate the Pei family's eldest branch.
"Dad, although my sister-in-law said that, we still need to find out the truth. Otherwise, if this gets out, how will my brother and sister-in-law face people? So many things have happened in the eldest branch of the family, and the two children below are under a lot of pressure. Minghan and Minghao are not even married yet!"
Madam Pei spoke with great conviction, as if everything she did was for the good of the eldest son's family and the Pei family.
Grandpa Pei did not respond.
Perhaps in order to gain a reliable ally, Madam Pei looked at Pei Fengzhi and asked anxiously.
"I think so too, right?"
She was certain that Pei Fengzhi would help her to put down the eldest son's family, whether it was because of the first wife's previous framing of him, for Ye Ningwan, or for the sake of the Pei family's business.
Pei Fengzhi, who usually dislikes meddling in other people's business, surprisingly spoke up.
"A photo is just a photo. It's not appropriate to draw conclusions before we investigate thoroughly. Besides, this is ultimately my brother's family matter, and it's not appropriate for us outsiders to get involved."
