Chapter 14 Counting Money (2/2)

Shang Yechu's palms were already sweating. She had no leverage to negotiate with the system and could only grit her teeth and reveal her speculations from the past few days. Talking about feelings, justice, and humanitarianism with artificial intelligence was the most foolish thing to do; talking about interests was the only effective approach.

Shang Yechu continued, "Adjusting your hormones shouldn't be difficult for you, right? Compared to the potential risks, this little thing is insignificant."

Shang Yechu's gamble paid off. A few seconds later, she felt all the discomfort disappear, and that familiar, morbid relaxation returned to her body. It was an illusion, but it was a quick fix.

Shang Yechu gave a forced smile and said, "Thanks." Then he ran off towards the lake.

The tug-of-war between Shang Yechu and the system delayed things a little longer. The man in the lake had already reached the deep water area, and the lake water had submerged his neck.

Shang Yechu rushed to the lakeside, still feeling the lingering effects of the hormones. After hesitating for a moment, he jumped into the water with a "plop"!

Hearing the sound, the man in the lake instinctively turned around—a slight movement that proved fatal at that moment. He lost his balance and slipped into the water!

The man's head was instantly submerged. Shang Yechu cursed under his breath and swam with all his might towards him!

Shang Yechu filmed many water scenes in her previous life.

A classic comedic movie scene: The male protagonist is sunbathing on the beach, fantasizing about seeing curvy, slender bikini-clad beauties frolicking in the waves. Just then, he hears the sound of water, and excitedly peers out, only to see a smitten, overweight woman winking at him from the waves: "Oh, handsome, come play!"

This kind of vulgar humor and contrast is a common feature in many low-budget comedies. Shang Yechu has filmed at least eight or ten such scenes. For safety reasons, she naturally had to learn to swim. Otherwise, if she were to drown, no one on the crew would be able to rescue her.

Of course, Shang Yechu was clumsy and swallowed water countless times, getting scolded by the coach countless times, before finally learning the basic doggy paddle. But it was enough for the stagnant artificial lake.

Having lived through a lifetime, there was an inevitable sense of rust in their physical abilities. Fortunately, Shang Yechu's physical memories returned in no time.

Shang Yechu quickly approached the suicidal ghost.

Upon closer inspection, Shang Yechu realized that the other person was actually a girl. Her black, shoulder-length hair floated in the water, resembling seaweed or a sea urchin.

It's good that it's a girl, it's good that it's a girl. Shang Yechu breathed a sigh of relief; a girl is gentler. If it were a big, burly man, Shang Yechu would probably have had to resort to humiliating outside help to cheat.

One meter, one foot, and Shang Yechu finally sprinted to the other's side. This suicidal ghost obviously couldn't swim; he had already started blowing bubbles in the water after only a short while.

Shang Yechu grabbed the other person and pulled them sharply toward her side—

It couldn't be retrieved.

So heavy?!

Shang Yechu gritted her teeth and swam with all her might to the other person's back to prevent him from grabbing her and sinking together due to his impaired consciousness.

Yuyin Lake wasn't deep, and the water was so calm it was almost imperceptible. Plus, this suicidal woman was surprisingly honest, so Shang Yechu actually managed to pull her out of the water with considerable effort.

Shang Yechu placed the suicidal ghost by the lake, not even caring that its long legs were still submerged in the water, and collapsed to the ground.

She was exhausted. After the effects of the hormones completely wore off, double the fatigue washed over her.

If it weren't for the fact that she was soaking wet and the lake stones were too cold and hard, Shang Yechu would have fallen asleep right now.

She was soaking wet and cold, her teeth ached, and she felt nauseous. Her lungs felt like they were about to explode, her limbs were tired and weak, and her knees hurt even more after being soaked in water—all these symptoms combined made Shang Yechu feel like she was at her limit.

Wait a minute, isn't that suicidal ghost that was pulled out of the water a little too quiet?

Alarm bells rang in Shang Yechu's mind. Could the other person have taken drugs and jumped into the lake? Then all her hard work would have been for nothing! Pulling up a dead body made her want to vomit blood just thinking about it.

Shang Yechu moved closer to the suicidal ghost and checked its breath. Hmm, good, it's still breathing.

Upon seeing the other person's appearance, Shang Yechu was slightly taken aback.

The reason is simple: this suicidal ghost is too beautiful.

The other person had delicate features and flawless, fair skin, like tofu. They had a straight nose and full lips. Although their beauty was somewhat diminished by their unconsciousness, their long, drooping eyelashes undeniably revealed the beauty of their eyes.

Even Shang Yechu, who was used to seeing handsome men and beautiful women in the entertainment industry, was slightly stunned by the beauty of the suicidal ghost.

Such a beautiful girl, how could she choose to take her own life? Shang Yechu shook her head. She guessed that the girl was probably a newcomer in the entertainment industry, and that she had a moment of despair due to excessive pressure.

Sleeping Beauty was still unconscious. Shang Yechu lowered her head and began to clean the mud from her mouth and nose. Fortunately, Yu Yin Lake was cleaned every day, so the water was relatively clean, and there was nothing foreign in Sleeping Beauty's mouth and nose.

After cleaning up, Shang Yechu recalled the lifesaving knowledge she had seen in the health newsletter at Grandma Hu's shop and tried to give the other person artificial respiration.

They were all girls, there was nothing to be embarrassed about. Besides, when it comes to saving lives, it doesn't matter if you're male or female.

When Shang Yechu's lips were only five centimeters away from Sleeping Beauty's, the other's thick eyelashes suddenly trembled.

Shang Ye paused for a moment. In that instant of hesitation, her tightly closed eyes suddenly opened.

Those eyes were as black as lacquer, radiating a breathtaking beauty. Shang Yechu was stunned by their gaze.

Immediately afterwards, the sleeping beauty who had just woken up pushed Shang Yechu away, sat up, turned her head to the side, and spat out several mouthfuls of water!

Shang Yechu collapsed to the side. At least she's alright. At least she didn't save a dead person.

After confirming the successful rescue, Shang Yechu temporarily set aside his moral concerns and began to calculate how much benefit he could gain from the incident.

He is ruthless and single-minded when saving lives, but he will not hesitate to use those he has rescued if he finds them potentially beneficial to him. That is Shang Yechu.

Judging from Sleeping Beauty's appearance, she's definitely not some unknown actress; she might even be a star member of a girl group cultivated by some idol company.

A life-saving favor is never insignificant, even if Sleeping Beauty herself doesn't acknowledge it, her company has to. That counts as a connection...

Unfortunately, the path of an idol doesn't align with Shang Yechu's goals. Oh well, she doesn't necessarily have to be a girl group member anyway. If she can't get connections, money will do. Shang Yechu can't let all her efforts go to waste.

Shang Yechu silently pondered. A wave of weariness washed over her, causing her taut reason to gradually crumble.

After Sleeping Beauty finished vomiting the water, she finally had time to see who the meddlesome person who had saved her was.

Shang Yechu was so sleepy that she was about to close her eyes.

Sleeping Beauty leaned over and carefully examined Shang Yechu from head to toe.

Shang Yechu sensed the other person's gaze, opened her mouth, and wanted to say something.

Unexpectedly, Sleeping Beauty spoke before Shang Yechu could, and her words were quite surprising:

"Shang Yechu? Is that you?"
