Chapter 161 is all in the past (2/2)

Why didn't you tell me?

“I was originally going to tell you this, but then you said you wanted to use the other party. Based on what I know about you, if you knew Sheng Wenzhi was a man, you would definitely turn on him immediately. How could you use him then?” 103 said without any guilt. “I was planning to tell you after your relationship of using each other ended.”

Shang Yechu, lying on the mattress, sneered, "So you're doing this for my own good?"

103 said, "Wasn't my guess correct? From the time Sheng Wenzhi told you his true gender to the time the two of you completely broke up, it only took half an hour—Sheng Wenzhi didn't even drive that fast from the county hotel to the film set."

Shang Yechu raised her eyes and said slowly, "I hate it when you act on your own initiative. You should at least have told me."

The tone of his voice was very serious. Shang Yechu had already calmed down.

103 paused for a moment, then finally relented: "Okay. Sorry. I also had my reasons. In the system's eyes, there isn't much difference between human genders, just like you don't care whether a computer is male or female when you use it, so I didn't take it seriously. It won't happen again."

The difference in mindset between humans and machines is significant. Shang Yechu couldn't explain to the system the ambiguous, complex, and tangled past relationship between herself and Sheng Wenzhi, so she could only use such straightforward and forceful language.

After dealing with this minor matter, Shang Yechu went to collect the crew's boxed lunches.

The film crew's boxed meals were contracted to the villagers in the village. These chefs, hidden in the countryside, were quite skilled and made the boxed meals look, smell, and taste delicious.

The enormous lunchbox was divided into several compartments, each containing large chunks of deep-fried pork belly, glistening green stir-fried cabbage, golden and red scrambled eggs with tomatoes, and a mixed dish of stir-fried mushrooms with meat. The fragrant rice was perfectly cooked, each grain distinct yet firm, sticky but not mushy. The crew also provided each person with a bowl of freshly squeezed carrot juice.

Having grown accustomed to the shoddy meals served by film crews in the city, this was the first time Shang Yechu had encountered such a state banquet-level boxed meal, and she immediately forgot all about Sheng Wenzhi.

Pick up a piece of scrambled eggs with your chopsticks and put it in your mouth. It's soft, tender, juicy, and flavorful, with a sweet and sour taste.

Shang Yechu asked, "These mushrooms aren't poisonous, are they?"

“It’s not poisonous,” 103 said. “It wasn’t picked by the villagers themselves; the film crew bought it.”

"I thought I'd get to eat wild mushrooms." Shang Yechu took a bite of the chewy mushroom, picked up her phone, and dialed Ji Juntao's number.

"You'd better have something to do," Ji Juntao said. "Do you know I'm interviewing an agent for you?"

"An interview so late?" Shang Yechu glanced at the sky. "Take a break."

“That was the last one,” Ji Juntao sighed. “Thanks to you, my reputation as a shrew has spread all over the internet. All the people who came for the interview were half-baked, none of them were any good.”

"How come the food on set is so good?" Shang Yechu joked. "Did they pluck the feathers from that tightwad?"

Ji Juntao felt distressed when he talked about it: "I allocated the budget based on the prices in Hengshi. Who knew that the prices in Jinsha City were so much lower? I have to remember this huge loss."

"No, no, no, you'd better not remember it." Shang Yechu found it extremely funny. "If you dare to skimp on my food allowance and give me the meals from the Cockroach House film crew, I'll raise cockroaches and feed them to you."

"You called me just to talk about the food on set?" Ji Juntao asked suspiciously. "You don't have that much free time, do you?"

Shang Yechu paused for a moment: "Boss, arrange a house for me."

"You're not staying at your best friend's house anymore?" Ji Juntao asked in surprise.

"Best friend?"

Shang Yechu was stunned for a moment. It turned out that even Ji Juntao couldn't tell Sheng Wenzhi's gender.

Ji Juntao said, "Your best friend is really arrogant. When she talks to me, she doesn't even bother to roll down the car window completely, only showing half of her head! It's normal that you can't stand her. I'll take care of the house for you, you just focus on filming."

Shang Yechu suddenly laughed, and the gloom in her heart was swept away.

"Mr. Ji, there's actually no rush for an agent—how about you be my agent for now?"

Shang Yechu said with a smile, "Anyway, no other artist will dare to sign you for the time being."
