Chapter 177 Execute First, Report Later (1/2)

After the initial excitement, the crew went to a celebration banquet together. The lively evening came to an end, and Shang Yechu's mind gradually calmed down.

Back at the hotel, Shang Yechu didn't go to her own room, but went straight into Ji Juntao's room.

Ji Juntao was typing furiously on his computer, the only sound in the room being the tapping of his keyboard. Shang Yechu had initially wanted to start a conversation, but then felt there was no need for such formalities between them, so she decided to get straight to the point.

"What exactly did you discuss with Qi Ming? Why is she suddenly speaking up for me?" Shang Yechu walked up to Ji Juntao and asked condescendingly, "You didn't sell me out, did you?"

Ji Juntao didn't even lift his eyelids: "Don't worry about it. Just consider her kind-hearted."

In this circle, personal relationships are far less genuine than elsewhere; the saying "no one gets up early without a reason" is exemplified to the extreme. Shang Yechu absolutely refused to believe that Qi Ming was simply acting out of kindness. The less Ji Juntao said, the more uncertain Shang Yechu felt.

With a "smack," Shang Yechu slammed Ji Juntao's tablet computer shut: "Are you going to talk or not?"

"Hey hey hey—" Ji Juntao slapped Shang Yechu's hand hard, speaking rapidly, "Let go, I'm busy, go to sleep if you've had too much to drink."

Shang Yechu pressed down on the laptop without letting up, staring intently at Ji Juntao: "What exactly happened? Don't forget our contract."

"..." Ji Juntao sat up straight and rubbed his temples. "Alright. Don't get angry when I tell you."

Shang Yechu did not readily agree: "That depends on what you mean."

Ji Juntao nodded and said, "Go, get me a cup of coffee."

Shang Yechu twitched the corners of her mouth, turned around and poured Ji Juntao a cup of instant coffee from the coffee pot, making a gesture of handing it to Ji Juntao.

The moment the other person reached out to take it, Shang Yechu pulled her hand back: "Hey—I'll give it to you after you've finished talking."

Ji Juntao missed his target and frowned, saying, "I'm thirsty."

"Drink water if you're thirsty."

Ji Juntao asked warily, "What are you planning to do? After I finish speaking, are you going to throw coffee at me again?"

Seeing her guilty look, Shang Yechu already knew what was going on. She shoved the coffee in front of Ji Juntao, and the brown liquid splashed out, splattering onto the table.

Ji Juntao frowned, pulled out a few tissues to wipe the table, and said casually, "Actually, it's nothing."

Shang Yechu stared silently at Ji Juntao wiping the table.

After wiping the table, Ji Juntao turned around and threw the tissue into the trash can. With his back to Shang Yechu, he said, "I promise Qi Ming that for any awards that the movie 'The Mute Woman' is nominated for in the future... you can only nominate her for Best Supporting Actress. She is the only leading actress."

Just as I expected.

Shang Yechu closed her eyes.

Ji Juntao turned around, looked at Shang Yechu, and slowly said, "This is the optimal solution to maximize benefits. I've seen the movie too. You acted very well, but you are indeed a step behind Qi Ming. If you and she were nominated for Best Actress at the same time, you would be doomed if you faced her."

Shang Yechu remained silent.

Ji Juntao hadn't convinced Shang Yechu yet, but he had convinced himself, and gradually became more assertive: "I timed your scenes with Qi Ming, and you have almost twenty minutes less than her. Even if we only look at the length of the scenes, she is the rightful lead. Even if you apply for the female lead role, she might not pass. You might as well do her a favor."
