Chapter 182 Red and Black (1/2)

“I went to talk to Teacher Jiang about the script,” Yi Tianzhao said. “After finishing my meal, I was walking out of the restaurant when I happened to see an advertisement for the movie theater…”

"Teacher Jiang said, 'Hey, I heard from Xiao Yi that Xiao Ye's movie has already premiered,' right?"

"I said yes. Teacher Jiang then said, 'Since we're just killing time anyway, let's go see how Xiao Ye's movie performance is...'"

"Ye Chu, Ye Chu?"

Yi Tianzhao reached out and shook his hand in front of Shang Yechu's eyes: "What are you thinking about?"

"Oh," Shang Yechu smiled shyly, "I thought Teacher Jiang would be angry when she saw this movie, since I filmed it during a break from shooting our movie."

“That’s not true.” Yi Tianzhao wiped his glasses. “Teacher Jiang said that in her time, those very popular artists could film more than a dozen movies a year. Anyway, the two of us went to see it.”

Shang Yechu lowered her head, her face flushed: "There aren't many people in the movie theater, are there?"

“There aren’t many.” Yi Tianzhao put on his glasses. “But that film was really good. The editing was superb, and the scene transitions were brilliant. I thought it was directed by a big-name director, but it turned out to be a newcomer.”

Yi Tianzhao, as the director, is more sensitive to things like scene transitions and composition. Shang Yechu showed a slight look of curiosity: "What did Teacher Jiang say?"

Yi Tianzhao adjusted his glasses: "I was just about to tell you this. Teacher Jiang was crying! I was planning to talk to her about the script, but the old lady was crying so hard, how could I bring myself to talk to her? I thought I'd have to work on it all out today, but just now, Teacher Jiang contacted me and said she's figured out how to revise the script."

After saying what he wanted to say, Yi Tianzhao noticed that Shang Yechu was covered in sweat and asked in surprise, "You didn't turn on the air conditioner? This room isn't that hot."

“Sigh,” Shang Yechu said without blinking, “I don’t know why I’m sweating so much today. I’m probably weak. I need to take some medicine to replenish my energy.”

"Take whatever medicine you have as soon as possible," Yi Tianzhao instructed. "The sooner you take it, the sooner the swelling will subside, and you'll stop the swelling."

"I understand, Director Yi." Shang Yechu looked grateful. "You've really gone to a lot of trouble."

Yi Tianzhao chatted with Shang Yechu about some details, and just as he was about to leave, he slapped his forehead and said, "I almost forgot about the important matter!"

Shang Yechu hurriedly asked, "Is there anything else?"

"Teacher Jiang said she wants to meet you," Yi Tianzhao said, "to talk to you in person."

What could Jiang Shang Nongchaosheng and she possibly have to talk about?

Shang Yechu felt more respect than affection for the old lady who favored Li Yi to the core. She couldn't think of any common ground between them.

"Does Teacher Jiang want to give acting guidance?" Shang Yechu asked tentatively.

“She didn’t say,” Yi Tianzhao said. “But don’t worry, this time it’s just you; Li Yi won’t be going.”

Yi Tianzhao had also watched the episode of "Twenty-Four Grids" that Shang Yechu and Li Yi participated in together. To this day, Yi Tianzhao still doesn't want to recall that awkward half-hour scene a second time.

Shang Yechu was even more puzzled now. Did she actually need to be "guided" more than Li Yi?

-----------------

The ripples caused by the failure of "The Mute Woman" were much smaller than Shang Yechu had imagined.

Aside from a few Su Ge fans who ridiculed Shang Yechu as a "flop," not many other groups mocked her incompetence. Even those who disliked Shang Yechu, such as Wang Miyun, Liao Li, and Yang Huanyi, all remained quiet and obediently shut up.
