Is Ji Juntao deliberately avoiding her?
The more Shang Yechu thought about it, the more likely it seemed.
What dinner party could be more important than me? What newcomer could be more valuable than me? Ji Juntao isn't the kind of person who puts the cart before the horse; she only strives for the most lucrative benefits!
But why did Ji Juntao want to hide?
Is it because you feel ashamed for not being able to resolve this matter? Or is it because you feel guilty towards Shang Yechu for choosing the script "The Mute Woman," which flopped at the box office and whose content was used as a basis for gossip?
Or is she actually working on solving this problem, but isn't confident and therefore doesn't want to discuss it with Shang Yechu for the time being?
Filled with suspicion, Shang Yechu left Ji Juntao's seat and walked up to Gu Wenhua.
Gu Wenhua was drinking honey grapefruit tea. The honey-colored tea reflected his acne-scarred face, and Shang Yechu suddenly thought that Gu Wenhua probably hadn't even used the cosmetics that Ji Juntao had recommended to him.
Gu Wenhua felt a shadow loom over him. When he looked up, he saw Shang Yechu standing in front of him, looking down at him.
"!!!"
Gu Wenhua stammered, "Sister Ye! -- Teacher Ye! What's wrong?"
Shang Yechu leaned down, placed her hands on the coffee table, and looked at Gu Wenhua: "Could you use your phone to call Ji Juntao?"
"Huh?" Gu Wenhua was surprised that Shang Yechu would make this request. Although the other party's sentence was a question, the tone was completely unquestionable!
Gu Wenhua took out his phone and hesitated, "Should I make the call?"
"Go ahead and hit him." Shang Yechu raised her chin. "Don't tell President Ji that I was there."
Gu Wenhua had no choice but to unlock his phone and dial Ji Juntao's number.
"Turn on speakerphone."
Gu Wenhua turned on speakerphone with a long face.
The call connected, and Ji Juntao's voice came from the other end: "Hey? Xiao Gu, didn't I say that matter would be resolved soon? What else is there for you to call about?"
Gu Wenhua stammered, "Ye..."
Shang Yechu raised an eyebrow.
Gu Wenhua immediately exclaimed, "...Yay! That's wonderful!"
Shang Yechu: "..."
Ji Juntao was clearly caught off guard by this remark, and after a few seconds of stunned silence, he said, "Don't tell Ye Chu about this yet. She's currently filming the finale of 'Xiao Feng Que,' so don't distract her... Never mind, she probably already knows about it, so she can't avoid being distracted anyway."
Under the piercing gaze of Shang Yechu's eyes, which were as deep as a lake, Gu Wenhua stammered, "Then, what should I do? How can I tell her?"
"What did you say to her?" Ji Juntao asked, puzzled. "Of course, I'll say it. I've found a writer who can go head-to-head with Dong Hongtao. We're having dinner together right now. After dinner, we'll discuss it and write a rebuttal film review to dominate the trending topics. This combo will definitely leave Dong Hongtao speechless."
"That must cost a lot of money, right?"
“It doesn’t cost any money,” Ji Juntao said. “He agreed very readily.”
Shang Yechu frowned and gestured to Gu Wenhua to continue asking.
Gu Wenhua stammered, "Who is it? So easy to talk to."
"You're a fan of 'The Mute Woman'?" Ji Juntao asked wearily. "You wouldn't know it even if I told you."
Shang Yechu glanced at Gu Wenhua.
Gu Wenhua could only say with a long face, "Oh, what if I know them? Tell me."
“A writer that Ye Chu really dislikes,” Ji Juntao said. “Alright, let’s talk again tonight, I’m busy here.”
"Beep beep—"
Ji Juntao hung up the phone.
Gu Wenhua looked at Shang Yechu cautiously: "Do you want to continue asking?"
Shang Yechu's eyes suddenly became vacant, as if she had drifted off into a daze.
Gu Wenhua coughed and asked, "Would you like to continue asking?"
"No, no need." Shang Yechu came back to her senses. "Thank you. I'll be going now."
