After much difficulty, Shang Yechu finally left the company after reaching a consensus with Ji Juntao.
Before leaving, Shang Yechu found the terrified Gu Wenhua and told him the excuse she had just come up with with Ji Juntao, which finally calmed the fragile director down.
Aunt Cai originally intended to send Shang Yechu back to the film set, but Shang Yechu politely declined.
With only one day left of the vacation she had taken from Yi Tianzhao, Shang Yechu didn't want to go back to filming so soon. But there was nothing to do with that cold, impersonal home.
Logically, the audition for "Half a Day" is in a month. Shang Yechu should be busy practicing her dialect and thoroughly studying the script. Even a minute wouldn't be enough. But for some reason, at this moment, she suddenly feels very tired and doesn't want to do anything.
Sometimes people consciously waste time, seemingly finding some solace and pleasure in the anxiety and indulgence of wasting time.
Since her rebirth, Shang Yechu has been constantly on the go. This is the first time she has fallen into such a strange mental trap.
Shang Yechu rode in Aunt Cai's nanny van, driving around the vast city, gazing at the monotonous scenery outside the window.
I don't want to read, I don't want to study, and I don't even want to think about anything.
After driving Shang Yechu around for a while, Aunt Cai couldn't help but ask, "Ye-zai, where are you going?"
Shang Yechu snapped out of his daze and casually said, "Let's go to Hengshi Film City."
"I just offered to give you a ride, but you wouldn't go. Now you want to go," Aunt Cai muttered as she turned the steering wheel. "Are you going to film a movie?"
Shang Yechu was impatient and replied perfunctorily, "Mm."
Aunt Cai sensed Shang Yechu's impatience and fell silent. The van sped off towards Hengshi Film City.
The journey was long, and Shang Yechu stared blankly out the window, her mind completely blank... After an unknown amount of time, a voice echoed in her mind.
"The Happiness Commercial Street is just ahead," 103 suddenly said out of the blue.
Shang Yechu was slightly taken aback. Before her brain could process it, her mouth had already opened: "Aunt Cai, turn left at the Tongfu Street intersection ahead. Stop at Xingfu Commercial Street."
The journey was short. The van stopped. Shang Yechu, wearing a mask and sunglasses, got out of the car.
During the National Day holiday, the pedestrian street was much more crowded. Passersby occasionally cast curious glances, but none of them recognized Shang Yechu.
Shang Yechu walked along, looking around. Her old neighbors on the pedestrian street didn't recognize her and continued with their own business. Then, Shang Yechu stopped.
The four characters of "Guyue Bookstore" have faded to white, and the bookstore is deserted. The owner is reclining in a chair, dozing off.
As Shang Yechu entered the bookstore, the wind chimes on the door rang softly. The shop owner didn't hear them and was still dozing off.
Shang Yechu entered the store, removed her mask and sunglasses, and placed them on the table in front of the shop owner. She went to the back room, picked up a rag, and began wiping the bookshelves.
After scrubbing for a while, the bookstore owner woke up from a dream and was slightly taken aback when he saw the sunglasses and mask on the table.
The shop owner subconsciously turned his head to look into the inner room and only saw a tall and slender figure from behind.
"Leaf?" Grandma Hu exclaimed in surprise.
"Grandma." Shang Yechu turned around, sweat beading on her forehead. "I'm back."
Grandma Hu walked briskly up to Shang Yechu, looked her up and down, and said with concern, "You must be tired these days?"
"..." Shang Yechu said, "A little, so I took the day off today."
Grandma Hu pulled Shang Yechu to her table and pulled out a stool for her to sit on.
"Take a break if you're tired. You can never earn all the money in the world." Grandma Hu took a box of chocolates out of the drawer. "Eat, eat. Old Tian gave them to me."
The chocolate box was exquisite; under the transparent lid were rows of wine-red chocolates, shaped like small steamed buns.
"Isn't Uncle Tian a tea seller? How come he's started selling chocolates?" Shang Yechu picked up a chocolate, peeled off the foil wrapper, and took a small bite.
A rich aroma of liqueur wafted out, and the honey-colored liquid shimmered within the chocolate shell. It turned out to be a box of liqueur-filled chocolates.
Shang Yechu quickly grabbed a tissue to wipe the liquor that had spilled onto her palm. The chocolate tasted quite good, rich and smooth, with a bittersweet aftertaste. Hard shell, soft center, the liqueur filling was a bit strong, sweet with a hint of bitterness.
"His son's shop has leftover New Year's goods that he can't sell." Grandma Hu reached out to wipe Shang Yechu's mouth. "The whole street is raking in the profits. I bought two boxes."
Shang Yechu then noticed that there was a little chick drawn on the box, and "Happy New Year" written in English. The Year of the Rooster was almost over.
Shang Yechu put the whole piece of chocolate into her mouth. Most of the chocolate slid around in her mouth, and her cheeks were stretched so much that they bulged out on the left and right sides at different times.
"Grandma," Shang Yechu mumbled, "um, how have you been lately?"
