Chapter 206 The Wedding? (1/2)

On the film set.

Yi Tianzhao was instructing Shang Yechu and Li Yi on the play.

It's difficult to create an atmosphere of romance or love between these two sworn enemies, but fortunately, Jiang Shang Nong Chao Sheng (江上弄潮生) takes a different approach, with a cleverly designed script. Shang Ye Chu and Li Yi don't need to act overtly affectionate; they just need to appear genuinely in love.

Moreover, people of the martial world don't need to act like children when it comes to love. Therefore, in the first few scenes, the interactions between Shang Yechu and Li Yi were limited to exchanging smiles, clasping their hands together, and walking side by side. There wasn't much of a clingy or sentimental stuff; instead, it was bright, clear, and open.

However, what's meant to happen will happen. Although Shang Yechu and Li Yi were both very unwilling, the scene they hated most was still being played out, page by page.

This scene is the wedding ceremony between Xiao Fengque and Xie An. It's also the scene that Yi Tianzhao is directing right now.

This scene is the climax of the entire film and cannot be overlooked. It's also a large ensemble piece. The scene is bustling and noisy.

Shang Yechu had already finished her makeup and changed her clothes. She wore a bright red brocade robe, a phoenix coronet, and an embroidered veil. The red veil would be put on later during the wedding ceremony, so it was not yet on.

The makeup artists at CTS (China Television System) were highly skilled, taking into full account Shang Yechu's facial features. The makeup was perfectly balanced, making her look as radiant as a sunset and as graceful as a peach blossom; the brocade robe was tailored to perfection, shimmering with light, and was the most expensive costume in the entire film so far.

The newlyweds' phoenix crown was very heavy. Xiao Fengque's attire was always neat and tidy, and this was the first time Shang Yechu had worn such a heavy ornament in a long time. Putting aside the sore neck, she felt that the thing was about to fall off.

Meanwhile, Li Yi was already dressed. His long eyebrows reached his temples, his eyes were sharp, his hair was adorned with a golden crown, and he wore a red robe, carrying the red silk ribbons the bride and groom would hold. His attire wasn't as expensive as Shang Yechu's; judging by the fabric alone, it even looked slightly cheap. Fortunately, he was tall and possessed a rare air of nobility, making him appear elegant and incomparably handsome.

Although he didn't show any nervousness on his face or in his words, his unease was undeniable. Li Yi's expression was extremely uncomfortable; unusually, he didn't put on his usual smiling face, but instead had his brows furrowed. Looking at Li Yi's current state, Yi Tianzhao couldn't help but tease, "He really does look like a groom."

Turning to look at Shang Yechu again, I saw that she was holding her phoenix crown with one hand and rubbing her neck with the other, her face not looking too good. The two of them didn't look like a newlywed couple, but rather like a pair of estranged lovers.

Yi Tianzhao, with a mix of amusement and exasperation, gave a detailed explanation of the walking and movements. From the gait and speed of entering the room to the standing position during the wedding ceremony, he went into great detail.

Shang Ye listened attentively, hoping to get the scene right in one take.

Shang Yechu had filmed wedding scenes in her past life, but those scenes were designed for comedic effect. Wearing a pure white wedding dress, Shang Yechu stood on the altar, holding a bouquet of flowers, waiting affectionately for the groom. Then, a special effect of a rain of flower petals appeared, and several men in hats, covered in petals from head to toe, walked up—and arrested Shang Yechu.

The reason is simple: Shang Yechu plays a villainous female CEO in that movie, and the male lead endures humiliation to stay by her side in order to gather evidence of her crimes. He then calls the police on their wedding day, leading to her arrest on the spot.

That scene was Shang Yechu's first "wedding" in her life.

For actors, filming is commonplace; kissing scenes and bed scenes are filmed on a whim whenever the plot demands them. But Shang Yechu still felt a bit uneasy; her first wedding scene after her rebirth was with Li Yi.

The scene was discussed until late morning, and finally filming began.

The hall was brightly lit and decorated, lavishly adorned with vibrant flowers. Extras and supporting actors gathered noisily, representing all walks of life. A large plaque hung high in the main hall, inscribed with the four characters "A Hundred Years of Harmony."

The musicians outside were making squeaking noises—of course, there was actually no sound; the music was added later. The orchestra played string and wind instruments, and the percussionists banged gongs and drums. At least visually, it was a bustling and lively scene.

Xiao Fengque covered his head with a veil, holding a corner of red silk in his hand, while Xie An held the other end of the red silk. This was called "leading the red silk."

The two, holding hands with the red ribbon, walked step by step to the hall door. The threshold was quite high, and Xie An whispered, "Watch your step."

Xiao Fengque paused slightly before calmly stepping over the threshold.

Xiao and Xie walked side by side and stood in the center of the hall. The guests all praised them.

What a perfect couple!

"Both the Xiao and Xie families are prominent clans in the martial arts world. Who would have thought this day would come..."

"Heroes have always emerged from among the young..."

"I've heard that the mother of that child from the Xiao family was once a renowned figure in the martial arts world—"

"Brother Jie, be careful what you say!"
