Chapter 234 Keeping the Appointment (1/2)

The so-called "beginner training ground" was much larger than Shang Yechu had imagined. While called a beginner training ground, it was more like a small shooting range.

A shooting range encased within a shooting range. Just like a person encased in a human body.

A sentence inexplicably popped into Shang Yechu's mind. She shook her head, shaking off all this nonsense.

The staff professionally and meticulously introduced the facilities to Shang Yechu: This is the weapons display area, this is the dedicated simulation training area, over there is the independent shooting room, and over there is the rest area...

After the staff finished their introduction, Shi Shan looked at Shang Yechu and smiled, "If you have any questions, you can ask me."

Shang Yechu looked around the training ground and said politely, "Yes, you seem to be a regular here."

“It’s not about that,” Shi Shan laughed. “I was just like you, a complete novice who knew nothing.”

The staff member was very perceptive: "Sir, Madam, if there's nothing else, I'll take my leave now. Please call me anytime if you need anything."

The staff left. Logically, a man and a woman alone in a room would inevitably create an ambiguous atmosphere. However, this training facility was too professional, spacious, and complex; Shang Yechu and Shi Shan stood out in stark contrast. The sparse and faint atmosphere was even less intense than the tension Shang Yechu had imagined.

Shang Yechu turned her face and looked at Shi Shan probingly: "You investigated me?"

Ji Juntao's search for a training venue was done in private, and no outsiders knew about it. To say that Shi Shan bringing Shang Yechu here was purely coincidental would be to fool a fool.

Shi Shan did not deny it: "I'm sorry."

Since the other party apologized so sincerely, although there was no remorse on their face, Shang Yechu didn't know what else to say.

"What did you want to see me about?" Shang Yechu changed the subject.

The fact that Shi Shan suddenly appeared outside Lanxiang Shi Pastry Shop was not a chance occurrence, but a carefully planned and inevitable event.

During dinner, Shi Shan brought up the script, mentioning that "in the ninth episode, Li Yiming was almost exposed in office 202, and it was Shi Shan who did everything in his power to cover for her." This seemingly casual conversation was actually a subtle hint that only those familiar with the script of "Half a Sky" could understand.

In episode nine of "Half a Day," someone was indeed nearly exposed. However, that person was not Li Yiming, but another underground worker codenamed "Zhiyin." If this person had been exposed, Li Yiming would have been in great danger as well. The person Li Ruhui was protecting with all his might was Zhiyin.

In the play *Halfway Through the Sky*, Li Yiming is maneuvering and feigning friendship with Lu Huaizhang, unaware that his confidant is about to be exposed. Li Ruhui is forced to take a huge risk by feigning to write Li Yiming a deeply affectionate love letter, expressing his longing for him in both Chinese and English. At the end of the letter, he includes a few lines of poetry:

White apples and green orchid leaves, I fear the fragrance will soon fade. A beauty beyond the azure clouds, how can I bear to see her, my love?

After repeatedly reading through this sour love letter, Lu Huaizhang deemed it without fault and ultimately handed it to Li Yiming. Lu Huaizhang even teased Li Yiming about it.

Upon seeing the love letter, Li Yiming was greatly alarmed. The codebook Li Yiming used to communicate with his organization was none other than a complete collection of Tang poems!

In the drama, Li Ruhui and Li Yiming are just comrades, not lovers. At a time when things are at their most sensitive, Li Ruhui suddenly writing such a pretentious and affected letter must mean that something major has happened.

To outsiders, the letter appeared to be a tender and affectionate confession. But Li Yiming knew perfectly well that the central message of the entire letter could be summed up in one sentence: "It's urgent, let's meet alone."

"White apples and green orchid leaves, I fear the fragrance will fade before they bloom. A beauty beyond the blue clouds, how can I bear to see her, longing for her forever?" This is from Yang Jian's poem "To My Confidant" from the Tang Dynasty. Li Yiming guessed it for a moment and understood—there was something wrong with the "confidant".

Shang Yechu initially thought Shi Shan had simply made a mistake and confused the plot. However, upon hearing the phrase "Office 202," she suddenly remembered that "To a Close Friend" was a poem from Volume 202 of the Complete Tang Poems. Shang Yechu had thoroughly memorized the script; she had done her homework meticulously.

Shi Shan clearly remembers the plot!
