Chapter 254 Local Warfare (2/2)

Sun Xiaoxiao's heart was filled with gloom, and she found fault with everyone. She hated the fanaticism of Shi Shan's fans, hated her own incompetence, and hated Ye Chu's studio for their inaction—Ji Juntao and Ye Chu's studio had been thoroughly investigated and their ancestors had been exposed, yet there was still no response.

Sun Xiaoxiao even began to resent Ye Chu, resenting her for not speaking out. Even posting a couple of selfies as a reward for her fans would have been nice.

The hatred was fleeting, and Sun Xiaoxiao quickly convinced herself: Ye Chu was just a young girl, and she was so angry after only talking to a few hundred people; how painful it must be for Ye Chu to face tens of thousands of cyberbullying attacks.

After briefly teetering on the brink of losing fans, Sun Xiaoxiao's feelings for Ye Chu actually deepened.

After cursing dozens of ivy-covered trees, and as usual, cursing Ji Juntao on the studio's Weibo, and then sending a private message to Ye Chu saying "Sister, I will always love you," the Sun family's dinner began.

Sun Xiaoxiao didn't actually have much of an appetite. However, today was the day the finale of the "Xiao Fengque" series aired. Of course, Sun Xiaoxiao wanted to watch it as soon as possible.

A small boat drifts amidst the ink-wash landscape. Black mountains, white water, the boat like a speck of ink. An invisible brush wields its pen across the canvas, writing three bold and unrestrained characters:

Return home.

The three words faded away. The camera gradually panned from the riverside back into the city.

In a courtyard, singing and dancing filled the air. Dancers, adorned in flowing robes, sang and danced gracefully; musicians played instruments, their melodies lingering in the air.

The scenes were set up in an extremely elegant and luxurious manner, a stark contrast to the shabby style of the previous films, making them a feast for the eyes.

In the center of the picture is a wealthy old man with graying temples, embracing a concubine and indulging in drinking and merrymaking.

The sound of the wind.

With a whoosh, a silver light shot out!

"ah--!!!"

The old man's concubine screamed and threw herself into his arms. The old man, greatly startled, ignored his concubine and scrambled to hide under the table!

When the guards rushed into the room, chaos reigned. Screams of women and children, the wails and cries for help of the elderly, food and drink scattered everywhere, musicians and dancers running in all directions—it was a scene of utter devastation.

The situation quickly stabilized. The old man crawled out from under the table, patted his chest, and was about to breathe a sigh of relief when he suddenly collapsed to the ground!

The table in front of him was a mess of cups and plates, and in the very center of the table stood a gleaming dagger!

The dagger gleamed silver, reflecting the old man's pale face.

A piece of white silk was nailed to the end of the silver dagger. The old man was terrified; he couldn't even move his tongue or eyes. Without the master's orders, the guards dared not make a move either.

The scene remained tense for a moment, then suddenly, a figure burst into the room.

The figure was broad-shouldered and burly, walking with a swift, sweeping motion, her clothes fluttering in the wind. Before anyone could even get a clear look at her, she had already drawn a sword from her waist and cleaved the table in two with a single stroke!

The table shattered, and the dagger clattered to the ground. The old man cried out in alarm and fainted.

The guards, who were about to draw their swords, immediately bowed and knelt down after seeing the person's face: "Madam!"

The lady glanced at the old man who had collapsed to the ground with disgust, sheathed her sword, and raised her chin at the concubine who was trembling on the ground in fear: "Pick up that piece of cloth and see what is written on it."

The concubine, on the verge of tears, trembled as she picked up the piece of silk and stammered, "To the Prince of Nanxiang: After three...three days, I will borrow your fine head—ah!"

The concubine was so frightened that she threw the silk aside and prostrated herself on the ground, crying out, "Madam, spare me! Madam, spare me!"

"Useless." The lady cast a disdainful glance at the guard. "You, pick it up and read it."

The guard, steeling himself, picked up the silk and continued, "I'll lend you my fine head... If things fail, death is the only outcome. Great... no, Heaven, Heaven is weary, I bow in reverence!"

The arena fell silent for a moment, then erupted into a deafening roar of screams!

The King of Nanxiang was awakened by the shouting. As soon as he opened his eyes, the piece of silk landed right on his face.

The Prince of Nanxiang, his hands trembling, unfurled the silk, glanced at it, and exclaimed, "This is impossible!"
