Shang Yechu shuddered and shook her head self-deprecatingly: "You seem to encounter all sorts of good things?"
The thought that Zheng Bohan had been working with Xu Hanwen for almost twenty years while he hadn't even found a soulmate made Shang Yechu almost jealous of Zheng Bohan's long, aging face.
Just as she was lost in thought, a bento box was suddenly pushed in front of Shang Yechu.
The bento box was quite beautiful. Bananas, blueberries, chopped apple pieces, fruit carrots, and fruit tomatoes—these colorful vegetables and fruits were neatly arranged on lettuce leaves, like an oil painting.
Shi Shan inserted a straw into a carton of milk and handed it to Shang Yechu: "Are you hungry?"
Shang Yechu raised her eyelids slightly: "You did this?"
"Although I'd like to say that, it was my assistant who made it," Shi Shan said with a smile. "I've already finished my portion."
Shi Shan's expression seemed different from usual, a little eager, and a little... strange. It sent chills down Shang Ye Chu's spine, almost making her think the food had been poisoned.
Shang Yechu didn't dare eat Shi Shan's food, so she poked the milk in front of her and changed the subject, saying, "Why are you staying up so late too? It seems like you don't have any scenes to film today."
Shi Shan smiled knowingly, picked up a tomato with two fingers and put it in his mouth: "I've been observing this filming from the sidelines and have benefited a lot."
The actors' claims of benefiting greatly were just platitudes, and Shang Yechu didn't take them seriously.
She forked a blueberry and put it in her mouth. The sweet and refreshing juice burst out. Shang Ye put down her fork and said, "Thank you."
"Our scene is tomorrow." Shi Shan didn't respond to the gratitude. "How do you think we should act?"
Shang Yechu took a moment to realize that, according to the original filming schedule, the next scene after this one was the main event between Li Yiming and Li Ruhui.
Li Yiming was shot but could not go to the hospital for treatment and had to treat it at home.
With injuries to his shoulder and back, it was inconvenient for Li Yiming to treat them alone. Li Ruhui stepped up and acted as Li Yiming's temporary surgeon.
According to Zheng's requirements, this scene must not have any gender connotations. The atmosphere between Li Yiming and Li Ruhui should be filled with a serious comradeship, similar to the camaraderie between soldiers in the army.
During the scene rehearsal, Zheng Bohan emphasized that Shang Yechu should treat Shi Shan as a woman, and Shi Shan should treat Shang Yechu as a man. He repeatedly stressed that any coyness or ambiguity would greatly diminish the quality of the relationship. Any romanticism would be vulgar, and any mushy or wishy-washy elements would be a desecration of his script.
Shang Yechu and Shi Shan both had reservations about Zheng Bohan's view, but Xu Hanwen kept ignoring it, so the two had no choice but to accept it.
Zheng Bohan's viewpoint is quite common among male creators in the entertainment industry. While in literary portrayals, love, friendship, and family affection are not ranked in any particular order, some screenwriters and directors prioritize friendship > family affection > the "insurmountable barrier" of love. Love is as stubborn and unshakeable as iron.
Zheng Bohan, who can write the romantic scenes in all his works as if they were wooden stumps, is naturally a follower of this kind of theory. However, Shang Yechu is not a believer in any theory and cannot agree with this crude gender-swapped relationship model.
Shi Shan's question implied that he also disagreed with Zheng Bohan's viewpoint. He was there to collude with Shang Yechu.
