Chapter 330 Flying White (1/2)

"Okay, okay, everyone, don't worry, I'll look at them one by one."

The residents of the commercial street handed in a large pile of messy papers of various sizes, some printed and some handwritten, listing what Shang Yechu had asked them to write three days ago.

Shang Yechu was reading the documents submitted by Uncle Ke and Aunt Meng, who run a roast duck shop.

"Dushulang Roast Duck Shop..."

"Crispy duck skin, our specialty..."

Shang Yechu circled the phrase "crispy duck skin." Although she couldn't write a script, Shang Yechu keenly felt that this sentence had a lot of room for development.

"Ordering a whole duck comes with a complimentary fried duck carcass and side dishes."

Shang Yechu drew a horizontal line.

Next up were the items handed over by the owner of Qianyu Photo Studio.

"Free photo editing."

Shang Yechu suddenly recalled how, during online arguments, people often mocked celebrities for excessively photoshopping their pictures. Photoshopping actually reflects a person's ideal self-image, and Shang Yechu believed that more than one person had thought, "If only I really looked like this in photoshopped pictures."

If a movie were to include a plot where people's appearances change as photos are edited in a photo studio, would that be feasible?

Shang Yechu temporarily noted this down as well.

To secure nationwide advertising opportunities, merchants employ a variety of methods, exaggerating the merits of their businesses and crafting detailed and comprehensive rules. However, most shops adhere to a set set of rules, inevitably including many repetitive and ineffective ones that are simply unusable.

Shang Yechu quickly skimmed through the pages, stopping when she reached the page about Uncle Fan's general store.

"Uncle Fan," Shang Yechu said, both amused and exasperated, "what kind of 'specialty items' are you listing here? Flashlights, wool gloves—haven't you sold out of your wool gloves yet?"

When Shang Yechu was working as an extra for the first time, Uncle Fan's general store received a batch of wool gloves. Now it's the second summer, and these wool gloves have not only not sold out, but have become a specialty of the store!

Uncle Fan, wearing shorts and with his hands in his pockets, muttered, "What special features can a general store have? I looked for a long time but couldn't find anything special about our store, so I just wrote down the oldest and least popular item in the store."

The neighbors burst into laughter. Grandma Hu slapped her thigh with amusement, teasingly saying, "Those flashlights were the ones Old Fan bought before you came. We all tried to persuade him then, saying everyone uses cell phones for light now, who still uses flashlights? But he insisted that they were—"

“Those flashlights are all top-notch!” Uncle Fan said. “Don’t let their domestic origin fool you, their lighting capabilities are even better than German flashlights. They’re just a bit ugly. Kid, Uncle Fan isn’t lying to you! My family had one when I was a kid, and it lasted for ten years without breaking!”

Shop owner Lu, cracking sunflower seeds, said with a grin, "Even the best flashlights shouldn't be stocked in so many! Our pedestrian street has streetlights, buying those things is pointless! Yezi, let me tell you, that batch of stuff has been in stock for three years, and the majority of the sales have come from our neighbors on the street contributing their goodwill! Haha ...

Shopkeeper Lu's laughter was so sharp and loud that it made Shang Yechu's ears tremble.

Uncle Ke also teased, "No matter how bright your flashlight is, it's not a sky lantern, where can it shine?"

Seeing Uncle Fan's face turn red and the veins on his forehead bulge, Shang Yechu quickly smiled and helped him out: "That's great! I'll buy a couple later too."

"What are you buying! Uncle will just give it to you!" Uncle Fan said anxiously. "You've helped us so much, why are you being so formal!"

After chatting for a while longer, Shang Yechu smiled and said goodbye to her neighbors. Just as she reached the street corner, Uncle Fan caught up with her and, without saying a word, handed her two flashlights.

Shang Yechu sat in the car, fiddling with a flashlight. Just by looking at its appearance, he knew why it was a slow seller. The flashlight was about the length of a mineral water bottle, with a very thin body and a large head, resembling a giant mushroom. It was also quite heavy; if you accidentally dropped it on your foot, you'd probably be limping for days.

Lighting products should be lightweight and portable. This thing is so bulky that, from a design aesthetic point of view, it is quite a failure.

The car had just passed through a tunnel, and the interior suddenly became as dark as a windowless warehouse. Shang Yechu casually pressed the flashlight button, and the interior was instantly illuminated as if it were daytime!
