"Alright then." Shang Yechu broke free from Shang Hongxuan and walked into the house. She wanted to see what this family was up to.
The dumplings in the pot have boiled.
The woman skillfully scooped up the dumplings with a strainer and placed them into four large bowls. As she set the dumplings on the table, the aroma of wheat filled the air, and the juicy filling shone brightly through the paper-thin wrappers.
The woman placed ginger, garlic, soy sauce, and vinegar on the table, wiping her hands with her apron. She stood by the table, not daring to speak.
The business owner came to our door, was it really to make dumplings for a family reunion?
Shang Yechu found it all rather ridiculous; surely they couldn't have come to poison her!
Shang Hongxuan naturally took the seat of the head of the family, while Shang Yechu sat in the guest seat, opposite Shang Jiayu. The woman sat at the end of the table, constantly glancing at Shang Yechu.
Shang Yechu didn't touch her chopsticks. The shrewd Shang Hongxuan guessed what was going on, stretched out his chopsticks, and hit Shang Jiayu hard on the head: "Hurry up and eat! Go do your homework after you finish eating!"
Shang Jiayu didn't know why he had been beaten again. With tears in his eyes and a pout, he reached for the bowl. Shang Yechu casually picked up a bowl of dumplings and handed it to him: "Eat this bowl, there's more in this bowl."
Shang Jiayu took the food without hesitation, added garlic and vinegar, and began to chew heartily. Only then did Shang Hongxuan turn to Shang Yechu: "Teacher Ye, why aren't you eating?"
Such repeated urging only fueled Shang Yechu's curiosity. What secret could be hidden in this bowl of dumplings?
Shang Yechu casually scooped up a bowl of dumplings and used her chopsticks to break one open...
Two plump, juicy shrimp balls, glistening with color, bulged out of the dumpling wrapper and landed sideways in Shang Yechu's bowl.
Shang Hongxuan stared intently at Shang Yechu: "Teacher Ye can't eat shrimp?"
As if a thunderbolt had cleaved a path through his mind, Shang Yechu was suddenly startled, his heart illuminated by the lightning.
I see.
That's really how it is!
So this is the revenge of that idiot Sheng Wenzhi?
It was just a little lie she casually told to appease Sheng Wenzhi's cravings and pride back then, yet he remembered it for so many years. In the end, it became a weapon for his revenge against her, and a drug her biological parents used to test her.
How could such absurd and laughable things exist in the world!
Shang Yechu laughed, her laughter calm and gentle, like a spring breeze: "How could that be?"
As she spoke, Shang Yechu lowered her head and ate half a dumpling in one bite. The delicious broth burst in her mouth, and Shang Yechu nodded slightly to the woman at the end of the table: "It tastes good."
Shang Yechu ate and drank heartily. He not only finished his own bowl completely, but also stuffed the remaining two bowls on the table into his stomach. His ravenous appetite left the other three people present dumbfounded.
Shang Yechu slurped down the last bowl of dumpling soup and showed the clean bottom of the bowl to Shang Hongxuan: "I'm finished, everyone please continue."
Ye Chu is not allergic to shrimp!
Shang Hongxuan and the woman exchanged bewildered glances. What was going on? Could it be that Ye Chu really wasn't their daughter? Or had that Mr. Sheng, that second-rate guy, made a mistake?
