Chapter 439 Three Bowls of Dumplings and a Movie (1/2)

If I had known that eating dumplings would be enough to get rid of the restaurant staff, I should have come earlier for this reunion dinner.

Shang Yechu sped back to her apartment in Hengshi. Ji Juntao was already waiting at home. Unfortunately, her private residence had been requisitioned by the Shang family, leaving her homeless recently.

"Resolved?"

"It's solved."

"So fast?" Ji Juntao raised an eyebrow. "How much did they give you?"

Shang Yechu said, "Three bowls of dumplings."

Ji Juntao: "...Your dumplings are worth that much? No, wait—"

Ji Juntao was shocked: "Ye, you didn't become Hannibal Lecter, did you?!"

Shang Yechu was taken aback, then immediately understood the absurd joke. She chuckled, her gloomy mood improving considerably: "Nonsense. When I was little, I lied and said I was allergic to shrimp, but I wasn't. They made me a few bowls of dumplings with shrimp balls, and after I finished them, they stopped suspecting anything."

"So you've been a liar since you were little," Ji Juntao muttered. "It's good that you can get rid of them. I'll take my bodyguards and kick them out tomorrow. You've come at the right time. Xiao Gu told me about 'Rules Street.' We can't make a hasty decision about saving the film. Have you seen the finished product?"

"Gu Wenhua said he would send me a sample. I'll make a decision after I see it." Shang Yechu opened her email. "Oh, speak of the devil, he's already sent it."

Ji Juntao leaned closer to look: "'The password is your birthday plus your full name in pinyin, and the WiFi password of the restaurant we often go to'? Wow, you've even learned a thing or two from eating there!"

"Get lost," Shang Yechu said with a laugh.

To prevent leaks, complete sample videos cannot be sent via compressed files; instead, they must be delivered online through an encrypted platform using special methods. Gu Wenhua sent the link and invitation password to this encrypted platform. This delivery method is expensive, allows for regional restrictions, and the video becomes invalid immediately after playback, preventing downloads. The only way to copy the video is to re-record it on another machine in the designated region.

The matter of moving up the screening time was extremely urgent. Gu Wenhua didn't have time to organize a small offline screening for Shang Yechu and Ji Juntao, so he had to resort to this method as a second choice.

Shang Yechu drew all the curtains, and she and Ji Juntao snuggled into the study to begin watching.

Upon opening the link, the screen filled with large floating watermarks made Ji Juntao frown: "These things look like cricket pupae, how do I read them?"

"Use your eyes to see." Shang Yechu adjusted the brightness. "Okay, let's begin."

Ten minutes later.

Ji Juntao murmured, "Why do I find your main character group so annoying?"

Shang Yechu scratched his head a little: "That's too stereotypical... but he is indeed quite capable—"

Before the words "incite people's anger" could even be uttered, "Bang!" A deafening roar filled the entire screen with a tidal wave of flames!

Ji Juntao and Shang Yechu both leaned back in unison: "Whoa!"

The movie exploded within the first ten minutes?

"Gu Wenhua has completely gone mad," Ji Juntao commented aptly.

Half an hour later.

Ji Juntao gasped: "This actually works?"

Shang Yechu stared at the screen with a strange expression, muttering, "It's possible? Maybe this kind of plot is popular now..."

Two and a half hours later.

The rough cut screening is finally over.

Shang Yechu leaned against the bookshelf, her face showing a blank expression as if she had been hollowed out.

Ji Juntao stared blankly at the dark screen for a long time before scratching his chin: "Is this...is this really the novel 'Heart Ghost'?"

Why didn't she see any connection to the original work?
