Chapter 440 Wild Elephants (1/2)

Throughout November, even Shang Yechu and Qingping were extremely busy with entertainment.

The day after the family reunion and dumpling-making, the merchant who had been staying at Ji Juntao's house for several days finally left.

Shang Yechu asked Luo Yao for a week's leave just to deal with matters concerning the Shang family. Now that things were settled, she should have rushed back to Xiatan to continue living with Yang Huanyi. But, coincidentally, Shao Guangji had somehow gotten in touch with Qingping Entertainment.

Shao Guangji's words were vague, and he did not directly say that he wanted to cooperate with Shang Yechu. His words were rather roundabout.

Ji Juntao had extensive negotiation experience with this kind of cunning old fox. He didn't let Shang Yechu come forward, but personally dealt with Shao Guangji.

Although Ji Juntao couldn't understand Shang Yechu's insistence on starring in "The Heavenly Emperor," he had no choice but to accompany her, since Shang Yechu was determined to play the role. There was no other way; he couldn't leave Shang Yechu with a gap in his schedule indefinitely.

Shao Guangji remained unconvinced. In the end, seeing that he couldn't get Qingping Entertainment to transfer the copyright, he even offered Ji Juntao ten or eight supporting roles in movies, hoping to replace the lead role that Shang Yechu wanted.

To be honest, Ji Juntao was shamefully tempted by the offer. It would be incredibly difficult for Shang Yechu to become the main character, the old man, while these supporting roles offered by Shao Guangji were practically within his grasp. Unfortunately, the copyrights to Ai Xiaodong's novels were registered under Shang Yechu's personal name and had nothing to do with Qingping Entertainment. Even if Ji Juntao's heart jumped to the Pacific Ocean, he couldn't bring himself to agree to this on Shang Yechu's behalf.

While the negotiations with Shao Guangji were still ongoing, Shang Yechu had a convenient excuse not to return to Xiatan. Living with Yang Huanyi was simply too difficult; he wanted to spend as little time with her as possible.

For Shang Yechu, even if she were punched four hundred times by Yang Huanyi, she would be willing to do it for the sake of filming. But sitting under the same roof with him every day, staring at each other with hardly any words exchanged, was truly agonizing.

While staying at home, Shang Yechu repeatedly read the script of "Anna Doraemon," and at the same time, she lurked in various accounts and forums related to lesbians, diligently studying them. She procrastinated day by day, hoping to meet Yang Huanyi as soon as possible.

Four or five days passed like this. The negotiations with Shao Guangji remained deadlocked, and Shang Yechu's good days of staying at home were finally coming to an end. Her assistant had already booked a plane ticket to Xiatan, and Shang Yechu was leaving tonight.

Leaving her comfortable golden nest and once again squeezing into a straw nest by the sea with Yang Huanyi, Shang Yechu was filled with reluctance. As she listlessly packed her bags, her assistant suddenly rang in with an urgent call.

"Sister Ye!" The assistant's voice trembled. "Please come to the company quickly!"

"What's wrong?" Assistant Zhu is usually a composed person, so why is he acting like a flustered chicken today?

Assistant Zhu's voice flowed rapidly past her ears, and as she listened, Shang Yechu froze.

Qingping Entertainment received a lawyer's letter.

------------

The lawyer's letter was issued by a local law firm in Hengshi. And the person being negotiated with was, naturally, Shang Yechu himself.

The Shang Hongxuan couple are preparing to sue Shang Yechu for having the ability to provide support but refusing to fulfill her support obligations.

If it were just a lawyer's letter, Qingping Entertainment wouldn't be so panicked. But this time, along with the lawyer's letter came two paternity test reports.

"Based on existing data and DNA analysis results, it is supported that Shang Hongxuan is Shang Yechu's biological father."

"Based on existing data and DNA analysis results, it is supported that Ji Ya is Shang Yechu's biological mother."

The report was issued by a large local appraisal agency in Hengshi.

The moment Shang Yechu saw the test results, she immediately recalled the hug the woman had given her when she walked in.

She was still a little confused at the time, wondering when the woman had become so close and affectionate with her. It turned out that she was using the hug as an opportunity to pull out her hair.

These two paternity tests were like a heavy hammer blow, shattering Shang Yechu's last shred of longing for maternal love. Looking at the black and white words on the paper, Shang Yechu felt as if she had been unbearably pathetic in the past.

Shang Yechu's team was shrouded in gloom.

A paternity test conducted by a non-legal institution has no legal validity, and a lawyer's letter is merely a warning. However, as long as the blood relation between Shang Yechu and the Shang family is established, it's only a matter of time before the Shang couple files a lawsuit against Shang Yechu, and a valid paternity test is obtained.

This situation has left Shang Yechu's entire team extremely worried. As core members of Shang Yechu's team, they had dealt with the Shang family before and knew firsthand how complicated their situation was. Now that their boss was involved, it meant they would have to deal with this family for the rest of their lives—good heavens!

After a half-day verbal battle with Shao Guangji, Ji Juntao returned to the conference room to find Shang Yechu's team looking utterly dejected. He frowned, clearly annoyed by the gloom: "What's wrong?"

Shang Yechu leaned back in his chair, covering his eyes with a damp towel, looking like a wax figure. He didn't utter a single word.

Assistant Zhu looked left and right, then steeled himself and handed the paternity test report to Ji Juntao without daring to say a word.

Ji Juntao glanced at the report and frowned: "What else? Nothing else?"

He You shrank back and pushed the lawyer's letter and other things to Ji Juntao.

Boss Ji flipped through two pages, letting out a cold laugh: "That's all?"

Is that not enough?
