Chapter 45 Farewell to the Film Crew

Shang Yechu immediately understood what Qin Tianye meant—Zheng Bohan agreed with her understanding of the character, therefore, Shang Yechu didn't need to reshoot. In other words, filming was successfully completed.

Shang Yechu exclaimed with delight, "Thank you, Teacher Zheng and Teacher Qin!"

"You don't need to thank me." Qin Tianye leaned against a dressing table, looking relaxed. "Actually, I don't know anything about civil officials, imperial power, or centralized power. I just felt comfortable watching your performance, so I bet on you. Fortunately, you didn't disappoint me."

Qin Tianye stretched out an arm and gently tapped Zheng Bohan on the back. "This guy owes me a meal now."

Qin Tianye's forearms were very strong, with prominent veins and smooth lines. A simple, antique-style watch was meticulously fastened to his wrist. When he tapped Zheng Bohan's back, the watch face gleamed with a low-key, elegant silver light.

Looking at Qin Tianye now, Shang Yechu could understand the extent of Su Ge's fanaticism. He was indeed a very sexy man, and what was even more commendable was that he was also a good person with brains.

Good people are rarer than pearls in the ocean.

Zheng Bohan lowered his hand, stood up, and patted Shang Yechu on the shoulder. "Well done."

After saying that, the proud old screenwriter left with a stern face.

Qin Tianye raised an eyebrow. "Don't take it to heart. That's just how he is. He's taken your words to heart."

Shang Yechu certainly didn't take it to heart. She thanked Qin Tianye again and then said, "I still need to say goodbye to Teacher Zheng. Teacher Qin, I'll be going now?"

"Go ahead." Qin Tianye pulled up a chair and sat down. "I'll rest here for a while."

As Shang Yechu turned to leave, Qin Tianye suddenly remembered something and said, "Oh, right."

"Hmm?" Shang Ye turned around, waiting for Qin Tianye to add something.

Qin Tianye complimented, "Your handwriting is quite good today. Did you study it specifically?"

----

After bidding farewell to the "Yun Qing Ji" crew, Shang Yechu returned to Grandma Hu's bookstore.

Grandma Hu was wearing her reading glasses and reading a thick book. Hearing footsteps, she looked up at Shang Yechu over her glasses. "You're back?"

"You're back." Shang Yechu stretched. "Ah, Grandma, I'm so tired."

Grandma Hu put down her book, took off her reading glasses, and looked at Shang Yechu expectantly.

Shang Yechu deliberately asked, "Grandma, why are you looking at me like that?"

Grandma Hu didn't speak, she just stared straight at Shang Yechu's face.

Shang Yechu raised her hands in a gesture of surrender, "Okay, okay. I was on set today—"

There was a two-second silence in the bookstore.

"From the director to the lead actors to the director of photography, everyone praised your handwriting!" Shang Yechu cheered, raising both hands.

Grandma Hu's mouth stretched from ear to ear in a wide grin. But after laughing for less than three seconds, she wiped the smile away, reached out her back scratcher, and lightly tapped Shang Yechu's waist.

"You little brat, you dare to keep me in suspense!" Grandma Hu snorted.

That's right, the "朕" (Zhen, meaning "I" or "the Emperor") that Shang Yechu used to amaze everyone was actually written by Grandma Hu!

Shang Yechu's penmanship is now quite good, ranking above average among ordinary people. But his calligraphy... well, let's just say it would only make him a laughingstock on screen.

Calligraphy cannot be learned quickly; it's not determined by intelligence. Shang Yechu bought a cheap set of calligraphy supplies and spent three days in the bookstore scratching his head and practicing, trying to master the strokes of the character "永" (yong), leaving behind a mess of scribbles.

One day, Grandma Hu found a piece of calligraphy by Shang Yechu in a corner and thought it was a talisman drawn by her competitor to curse her!

After questioning Shang Yechu, Grandma Hu learned about her predicament.

Grandma Hu is a retired teacher, so her handwriting is naturally quite good, especially her calligraphy. At least to a layman, it's very pleasing to the eye.

Grandma Hu appeared out of nowhere and, in a moment of great compassion, wrote a menacing "朕" (Zhen, meaning "I" or "I") character for Shang Yechu. Shang Yechu treasured it like a precious gem, copying it over and over again for a full half-month, until all the draft paper was used up.

Even last-minute preparations can be effective, and in the end, Shang Yechu used this imitation of Grandma Hu's original work to complete his coronation ceremony.

The effect was good, and Zheng Bohan has decided to use this writing scene directly. Qin Tianye and others even thought that Shang Yechu had written incredibly skillful calligraphy, and several actors who were close to her even begged Shang Yechu to write couplets for them for the New Year.

Shang Yechu put on a really impressive show on the day filming wrapped up!

Shang Yechu pleaded, "I was wrong, I was wrong, okay? How about I mop the entire bookstore floor today?"

Grandma Hu reluctantly let her off the hook, saying, "You have to wipe the bookshelves too. Some of them have ink stains on them, making them look like leopard-print pants."

"Your Majesty, I will answer you," Shang Yechu said in a high-pitched voice, making a handkerchief-waving gesture before smiling and going to clean.
