Chapter 48 The King of Asian Dance (1/2)

Shang Yechu washed her face with cold water, wiping away the sweat. Luckily, she wasn't wearing makeup today.

Sure enough, after leaving the room, Shang Yechu's number was called. Shang Yechu jogged to the audition room door and flashed a smile at the secretary who was calling the number.

Upon entering the room, Shang Yechu bowed generously to the interviewers and said, "Hello, teachers."

There were only three people in the room. All three were women. A stern-faced, capable woman sat in the center. Shang Yechu recognized her; she was Yi Tianzhao, the director of "Tianji Tower." To her left sat a smiling, bespectacled elderly woman; Shang Yechu couldn't tell if she was the screenwriter or producer. To her right sat a remarkably elegant and poised middle-aged woman; Shang Yechu was equally unsure of her identity.

It seems the director of "The Mystery Tower" is quite dedicated to this film. After all, casting minor roles is usually handled by the assistant director or casting director; the director doesn't need to be involved personally.

Shang Yechu wasted no time and got straight to the point: "My name is Shang Yechu. The role I'm interviewing for is the courtesan Mianmian."

As soon as he finished speaking, the elegant woman sitting on the right raised her head and began to sized up Shang Yechu.

Her gaze was devoid of warmth, carrying only a scrutinizing quality.

Shang Yechu realized that this person was probably a dance teacher hired by the production team.

Shang Yechu was right. The woman sitting to Yi Tianzhao's right was indeed the dance consultant hired by the production team. Her name was Du Xiaotang.

Yi Tianzhao's eyes lit up. Shang Yechu had a pretty face, a well-proportioned figure (in the eyes of an experienced director, this "well-proportioned" refers to her figure on camera), dark pupils, and a clear, bright gaze. Among the dozen or so people interviewed today, she had the best overall appearance.

The courtesan is a profession that sells one's looks, so director Yi Tianzhao naturally wanted the courtesan in his film to be beautiful.

"Let's get started. Hurry up," the bespectacled old lady urged.

Performing classical dance in modern clothing inevitably creates a sense of absurdity. Therefore, a dancer's technical skill is crucial.

In fact, before Shang Yechu arrived, another actress had already auditioned for the role of the courtesan Mianmian. Although she wasn't as beautiful as Shang Yechu, her dance skills were quite solid. Her performance of "Hundred Days Banquet" was fluid and graceful, earning high praise from Du Xiaotang.

Yi Tianzhao and the other two had already decided on the artist who danced well. Seeing that Shang Yechu was coming to audition for the role of Mianmian again, they were actually quite uninterested.

Shang Yechu closed her eyes slightly.

When Shang Yechu opened her eyes again, her expression had suddenly changed!

Her acting was good. She could get into character with just a blink of her eyes. Yi Tianzhao mentally added a few more points for her.

She didn't dance immediately, but walked to the window, leaned against it, and slightly clenched her fingers as if holding something.

Shang Yechu's eyes were half-closed, her expression languid, her gaze seemingly containing unreadable emotions, or perhaps nothing at all.

She gently shook her hand twice, and everyone immediately realized that she was holding a fan.

This was a performance without props. Shang Yechu leaned against the window, with her shoulders and below completely suspended in the air. In fact, it was an uncomfortable posture of standing at an angle.

But her tired expression, relaxed posture, and leisurely movements gave people the feeling that "she was reclining on a chaise longue"!

The old lady with glasses, who had initially seemed indifferent, gradually became serious.

Suddenly, Shang Yechu stopped holding the "fan".

Shang Yechu turned her head slightly, as if she was listening intently to something.

A moment later, a hint of anger appeared on Shang Yechu's face. "They're here again?"

No one was acting opposite Shang Yechu. But everyone could tell that it was a maid who had come to report something to Shang Yechu.

Yi Tianzhao nodded.

Two seconds later—just as Yi Tianzhao finished nodding—Shang Yechu suddenly stood up straight and threw the non-existent fan in her hand to the ground!

"When will this end?!"

Shang Yechu's face turned red with anger, her thin eyebrows furrowed together, revealing an undisguised disgust.

The maidservant said a couple more things.

Shang Yechu closed her eyes briefly and exhaled. When she opened them again, a warm smile, as gentle as a spring breeze, graced her face.

"Alright, help me to do my hair."
