Hongjie was engrossed in "reading" when she heard Lingling's words and immediately wanted to go see her daughter.
At the critical moment, Xiao Ye suddenly realized something and said in a low but stern voice, "Sister Hong! Don't look at Lingling!"
Everyone shuddered, suddenly remembering the bookstore's first rule—
"Do not disturb others while they are reading."
If it weren't for Xiao Ye's quick thinking, Lingling would probably be...
Hongjie shuddered, clenching her teeth. Even though every cell in her body was screaming to see what Lingling was doing, she dared not tear her eyes away from the page. Sweat trickled down the woman's neck, and her cheeks trembled from being bitten so hard.
Xiao Ye glanced at the book in Lingling's hand and immediately broke out in a cold sweat. The first page of the picture book in the girl's hand was completely blank!
Xiao Ye couldn't disturb Lingling's reading, but the little girl was too young and still confused. She didn't know to put the picture book back on the shelf and just stood there blankly holding the book.
What to do? What to do?
If we disturb Lingling and remind her, the person who did so is likely to be in grave danger; but if we don't disturb Lingling and let her stare blankly at this book with its blank first page, missing the opportunity to return it to the bookshelf, what will happen to Lingling?
The three men, including the fat man, were still reading the picture book, unable and unwilling to look at Lingling. The little girl remained engrossed in her book.
Xiao Ye gritted her teeth and suddenly strode out of the bookstore!
Is she really going to abandon everyone and run away?
Hongjie caught a glimpse of this scene out of the corner of her eye, and her teeth nearly ground to powder. Her hands trembled uncontrollably.
Unexpectedly, a short while later, Xiao Ye quickly walked back!
As Xiao Ye approached, the audience could see that she was holding a strangely shaped pen in her hand.
Xiao Ye walked over to Lingling in a few steps, squatted down, and looked at the little girl: "Lingling."
Lingling stared blankly at her, her gaze shifting away from the book.
"Ye Xiaochu, this is your first violation. Don't let it happen again."
A cold, mechanical voice sounded.
Xiao Ye, seemingly oblivious, shoved the pen into Lingling's hand and asked, "Lingling, do you like drawing?"
Lingling nodded blankly.
“That’s good,” Xiao Ye said, taking Lingling’s hand and moving it to the first blank page of the picture book. “How about Lingling draws on this page?”
Lingling obediently said "Oh," took the pen, and began to draw on the blank page.
Strangely enough, the black and red brushstrokes, drawn on the blank page, only stayed for a few seconds before disappearing completely, as if they had been absorbed by something.
"Sister," Lingling asked curiously, "I can't draw it on."
"It will stay up, it will stay up." Xiao Ye squeezed Lingling's hand. "As long as Lingling keeps drawing and doesn't stop, these paintings will stay up forever. Let's keep drawing until the very end, okay?"
At that moment, Sister Hong finally finished reading the picture book. She bent down and hugged Lingling tightly, tears welling up in her eyes, which she dared not let slip.
"Lingling, Mommy's sweetheart." Sister Hong tilted her head back, trying not to let the tears fall, a forced smile on her lips. "Draw quickly, draw quickly. Don't stop until Mommy tells you to. Listen to your sister!"
Lingling listened to her mother very well. Upon hearing this, she grabbed the pen and continued to scribble on the blank paper.
Sister Hong wiped away her tears and urged, "Lingling, quickly say thank you to your sister!"
"Thank you, sister," Lingling said as she drew. The camera zoomed in on her drawing, revealing a tiny figure tucked between pages of a book before disappearing from view.
Sister Hong thanked Xiao Ye profusely. Over there, Fatty and Huang Feizhang finally finished reading the picture book and came over to ask, "What exactly happened?"
Xiao Ye gave him a wink.
Hongjie immediately understood: books couldn't be taken out of the bookstore, meaning Lingling had to stay inside to draw. But how could she, a mother, abandon her child and leave her alone in the bookstore?
