Chapter 502 The Banquet (1/2)

After the roadshow, there was a group interview with the media. In addition, there was a small fan meet-and-greet.

Shang Yechu was surrounded by enthusiastic fans, who grabbed her hands and asked for autographs, leaving her wrists almost aching from writing so much. This happened at every roadshow.

Ru Guantai arranged a banquet, inviting Shang Yechu and her group to dinner that evening. Although they didn't plan to collaborate in the future, they couldn't refuse their hospitality. Therefore, time was quite tight. Nevertheless, Shang Yechu maintained a friendly and cheerful smile, fulfilling as many fans' wishes for autographs or photos as possible.

Amidst the excited pleas of the budding guests and the incessant clicking of camera shutters, Shang Yechu finally managed to escape from the crowd after much persuasion. When she emerged, her clothes were soaked with sweat.

In Ruguan, lavish banquets are rampant. The reception for Shang Yechu and his entourage was quite grand, leaving the five members of the "Happiness Street" production team in awe. Huang Feizhang, Fatty, Sister Hong, and the others were all relatively unknown, and Gu Wenhua was also a country bumpkin. Shang Yechu was slightly better off than them, as he was more familiar with the local tyrant style of Ruguan. He could only be described as slightly unsophisticated while remaining outwardly composed.

Gu Wenhua and the others were initially worried about what to do if the people from Rutai tried to persuade them to drink. Sister Hong and Fatty were both ill; Gu Wenhua was young and hadn't yet developed a high tolerance for alcohol. Huang Feizhang was used to cheap liquor, but they couldn't expect him to drink for the entire table alone!

Fortunately, these worries vanished at the banquet. Shang Yechu had already spoken with the host from Rutai and told them directly that he would be traveling back that evening and it wouldn't be convenient to drink alcohol. So, the wine served to the "Happiness Street" crew was replaced with local specialty herbal juice from Ruguan—healthy, refreshing, and natural, though terribly unpalatable, but still better than alcohol.

Many things need to be done step by step.

The banquet was passable, but the guests and hosts were generally pleased. During the meal, several people from Rutai tried to flirt with Shang Yechu, but were all turned down. However, it wasn't entirely fruitless; Shang Yechu recommended several junior colleagues to Rutai, leaving it to them to decide whether they wanted them or not. It was better to avoid these people staying at the company idle and provoking Ji Juntao's anger.

The banquet ended, and the moon was high in the sky. Shang Yechu and the others barely managed to refuse Ru Tai's farewell invitation and fled the scene as if they were escaping.

It was already past 10 p.m.

Hongjie and the others were just extras; they got into another car and went back to the hotel early after the banquet. The crew of "Happiness Street" were harmonious, and there weren't many formalities that required everyone to stay together. Shang Yechu and Gu Wenhua, however, had to stay behind and exchanged pleasantries for quite a while, their lips getting tired from talking.

By the time the pleasantries were over, it was nearly eleven o'clock. Shang Yechu and Gu Wenhua sat in the car, pinching their noses and rubbing their temples, both of them half-dead from Ru Guan's torment.

Shang Yechu quietly took out her phone and swiped the screen.

On the chat interface, Yang Huanyi sent a "kiss".

Seeing this old-fashioned meme, Shang Yechu felt a surge of warmth and sweetness in her heart, as if she had taken a stimulant, and most of her fatigue disappeared.

Last night, Yang Huanyi agreed to the request to watch a movie on Valentine's Day.

The movie screening time was incredibly inconvenient, scheduled for 11:30 PM tonight. In half an hour, Valentine's Day would be over. But there was nothing Shang Yechu could do; that was all the time she had. She hadn't held out much hope, since going to bed early was an important part of a female celebrity's skincare routine. Unexpectedly, Yang Huanyi actually agreed.

Shang Yechu's heart blossomed with joy: She really does love me to death!

Shang Yechu had already booked the theater and planned the route. It would take about twenty minutes to drive from here to the theater. It was already eleven o'clock, and if they went back to the hotel first and then left for the theater, they wouldn't make it in time.

Thinking of this, Shang Yechu turned off her phone, glanced at Gu Wenhua beside her, and felt deeply troubled.

Wearing Gu Wenhua to the movie theater is out of the question, and kicking someone out of the car for no reason is even stranger. It seems the only option left is to use the art of feigning needing to pee.
