The more she thought about it, the more confused and bewildered she became. Her chest pounded wildly, her heart burning with rage, as if it would burst out of her chest. Shang Yechu's eyes darted around erratically. She picked up her teacup and downed it in one gulp.
"Pfft—cough cough cough!"
Damn! This teapot keeps the water warm pretty well!
His tongue suddenly went numb from the heat, and Shang Yechu coughed so hard that he felt dizzy and disoriented. The scenery in front of him trembled with each cough.
Shao Guangji frowned, stood up, searched his pockets for a while, and pulled out a handkerchief, handing it to him: "Wipe your hands. Why did you drink so fast?"
Shang Yechu took the handkerchief, thanked her, and glanced outside. The spacious balcony blocked half of her view, so Shang Yechu could only see Yang Huanyi's upper body. Her steps were slow, as if she were enjoying the rain.
Shao Guangji's voice still echoed in my ears: "Dark tea needs to be kept warm, which is why I chose this pot. I almost forgot about you young people..."
Shang Yechu's eyes and mind were filled with Yang Huanyi, and she didn't care about the black tea or the white tea. She kept apologizing, "It's okay, Teacher Shao, I drank too fast. Please sit down, please sit down."
Oh, right, Shao Guangji is here too!
Shang Yechu's mind suddenly lit up. That's it! Shao Guangji had once shown interest in Yang Huanyi, wanting her to star in "The Heavenly Emperor." Perhaps Yang Huanyi wasn't actually from Taiwan, but like Shang Yechu, had come to the island to ambush Shao Guangji.
It's possible that this time, Shao Guangji is casting a wide net again, meeting with Shang Yechu and then Yang Huanyi right after. The reason Yang Huanyi is walking so slowly is probably because it's not yet time for her meeting with Shao Guangji, so she's lingering downstairs.
No wonder Shao Guangji urged her to leave; it turned out there were other guests waiting.
The logic is sound. Everything makes perfect sense.
But is that really the case?
Shang Yechu dared not dwell on the vague sense of terror that lingered in her heart, as if something terrible was about to happen, something she absolutely could not bear...
What's so scary? Shang Yechu cheered herself up inwardly. Since Shao Guangji had already reached an agreement with Yechu, Yang Huanyi clearly had no chance. Whether it was the Heavenly Emperor or God, it could only be Yechu. She wondered how Shao Guangji would refuse Yang Huanyi, or whether he would offer her another role. That was the old man's own business.
For a moment, Shang Yechu wanted to rush downstairs and ask Yang Huanyi. But she didn't know exactly what to ask.
Forget it. Going to Yang Huanyi to talk about this now would feel like bragging to her. It's better to avoid her, lest these things upset her. Shang Yechu absentmindedly dried her face, almost throwing the dirty handkerchief straight back at Shao Guangji. Fortunately, she snapped out of it at the last moment and stopped: "Excuse me, Teacher Shao. Should I wash it and return it to you, or should I buy you a new one?"
"No need for that." Shao Guangji glanced out the window and frowned. "The rain is getting heavier and heavier. If you want to leave, you'd better hurry, otherwise it will be completely dark soon. Or you can stay here and wait."
"No, thank you," Shang Yechu said hastily. "I have some things to do, so I'll be going now." She looked out the window again, but Yang Huanyi's figure had already disappeared.
Damn it. She's probably already inside the building; if she goes out now, she'll likely bump into her. Avoiding it is impossible. Shang Yechu's mind raced, and she suddenly gave Shao Guangji an awkward smile: "Teacher Shao, do you know where the restroom is?"
