Chapter 525 Reunion with the Screenwriter (2/2)

“We’ve found Jian Xiaojun.” Ji Juntao hesitated for a moment, then sighed. “Well, it’s hard to explain in a few words. Go see her yourself.”

Jian Xiaojun is the author of "The Mute Woman," and Shang Yechu specifically emphasized that she should be treated like a top screenwriter. Therefore, the place where Qingping Entertainment received Jian Xiaojun was the same reception room where they received Shao Guangji last time.

Pushing open the door, Shang Yechu looked around but didn't see anyone. Just as she was about to ask her assistant Jian Xiaojun where she was, she suddenly noticed a person standing vaguely behind the curtains, gazing downstairs.

"Xiaojun?" Shang Yechu stepped forward and called out tentatively.

The figure behind the curtains moved and slowly emerged, exclaiming in a surprised tone, "Ye Chu!"

Upon seeing this person's appearance, Shang Yechu was greatly surprised and took a half step back in fright.

The person in front of me was quite obese, with a potbelly; his skin was oily and taut, and his face was covered with acne; his short hair was messy and stood up, half of which was white. He was hunched over, like a fat, bloated shrimp.

If it weren't for the faint traces of the past between her eyebrows and eyes, Shang Yechu would hardly have recognized her—this was actually Jian Xiaojun!

When filming "The Mute Woman," Jian Xiaojun, while not exactly youthful and beautiful, was at least neat and tidy, exuding a student-like clarity and scholarly air. How could she have changed so much in just over two years?

"Xiaojun." Shang Yechu quickly composed himself, smiled broadly, and hugged her. "Long time no see."

The two were very different in build, and when they hugged, it looked like a bear hugging a skeleton.

"Long time no see," Jian Xiaojun said in a rough voice, "Did I startle you?"

Shang Yechu smiled, didn't reply, and pulled her to sit on the sofa.

Sitting closer, Shang Yechu's heart pounded with dread. Jian Xiaojun's once smooth forehead was now etched with fine wrinkles; a few faint lines drooped at the corners of her mouth. Shang Yechu sniffed, catching a whiff of something fishy. Glancing sideways, she saw pus oozing from Jian Xiaojun's right ear.

In just two years, how did that naive, innocent, carefree, and confident child become like this?

Shang Yechu suppressed her thoughts, pulled over the large gift bag that had just been placed on the coffee table, and said with a smile, "I brought you a gift. I didn't know what you liked, so I just bought this."

Jian Xiaojun glanced at it and realized it was a deluxe snack gift pack from Xingyuan Foods. She was slightly taken aback. Years ago, she wrote the script for "The Mute Woman" precisely to earn money to buy this gift pack. She had even told this story as a joke to everyone. She never expected Shang Yechu to remember it all this time.

Even if Shang Yechu brought a box of gold bars, the shock to Jian Xiaojun would not be greater than this big bag of colorful snacks.

Jian Xiaojun stared blankly for a long time, looking at the gifts on the coffee table. The emotions she had been suppressing suddenly became uncontrollable.

"I..." Jian Xiaojun's throat tightened, but she forced a smile and said, "Ye Chu, I don't eat snacks anymore."
