Chapter 536 Three Names (1/2)

Chapter 536 Three Names I never expected that "The Heavenly Emperor" would also invite Nina Meyer.

Shang Yechu was both surprised and delighted. In her previous life, there was indeed an Indian actress in "The Heavenly Emperor," but it wasn't Nina. She didn't know what went wrong in this life, and she ended up playing Nina.

Nina, speaking in broken, curry-accented Chinese, said, "Ever since you finished reading my sheep, I've lost half my appetite. I even got anorexia. But I'm cured of anorexia now. Your luck is pretty good; if you mention casting actresses, I'll come over."

She spoke with great enthusiasm, leaving Shang Ye completely bewildered. What was she babbling about?

Nina Mel chattered on and on, oblivious to everyone else in the room. Everyone else in the room was looking at Shang Yechu, wondering what kind of cryptic conversation the two were having.

Shang Yechu had no choice but to interrupt in English, saying, "Why don't you just speak English?"

Nina Melton paused, then smoothly switched back to English. She spoke for a while longer.

It turns out that Shang Yechu had told Nina Meyer's fortune at the Film Awards ceremony and advised her not to diet. She initially didn't take it seriously. However, shortly after, she took on a role, gained weight through binge eating, and was ridiculed by the media for her obesity.

Nina Meryl, after much agonizing thought, began a hunger strike to lose weight. Halfway through her diet, she suddenly discovered she had developed mild anorexia.

Initially, Nina didn't consider treatment and intentionally indulged her anorexia, believing it would make weight loss faster. However, as her health deteriorated, problems like anxiety and depression emerged, and she was unable to accept several acting offers due to her health condition.

Just then, Nina suddenly remembered that the eccentric Chinese man had advised her that excessive dieting would affect her wealth and career.

People who are weak are prone to suspicion. Nina thought it over and over. Since dieting hadn't improved her career, she figured she might as well take a gamble and trust the Chinese man. So she gritted her teeth, saw a professional doctor to cure her anorexia, and started exercising and eating normally again. As her health improved, she developed a robust and voluptuous beauty, and her career reached new heights.

From then on, Nina believed that the young Chinese sorceress truly possessed supernatural abilities and began diligently practicing her Chinese, hoping to see her again. Coincidentally, Shao Guangji was there contacting professional actors, and because of her good Chinese, Nina was chosen by Shao Guangji.

Shang Yechu was both delighted and embarrassed. He was delighted because he had unintentionally saved a life, a truly meritorious act; but embarrassed because most of the people present had good English skills and could understand what Nina was saying!

Ai Xiaodong leaned closer and asked curiously, "You're a Taoist? And you can tell fortunes?"

Shang Yechu's neck turned bright red, and she suppressed her overwhelming embarrassment as she said, "No. It wasn't fortune telling, I was just talking nonsense..."

Ai Xiaodong chuckled, seemingly unable to suppress a laugh. Shao Guangji coughed lightly, tapped the table, and said in English, "Alright, Ms. Mel, go back to your seat. This isn't the place for catching up."

Nina muttered a couple of disgruntled words, then whispered in Shang Yechu's ear, "I brought you a gift this time." Reluctantly, she sat down in her seat not far away.

After the minor hiccup, the main cast finally arrived one by one. A quick glance revealed that, apart from Nina Meyer, the rest of the cast remained largely unchanged. The rebel leader was still played by middle-aged actor Lu Hongyi, while the core rebel members were portrayed by Russian actor Maxim, American actor Lucas, and African-American actor Sean, among others, showcasing a diverse cast.

Nina's character is also one of the rebels. Shang Yechu, familiar with the script, looked around and realized that most of the main characters were present. Only one was missing: the mother from the script.

Could it be Yang Huanyi?

A sense of anticipation welled up in Shang Yechu's heart, and she kept looking towards the door.

Shao Guangji suddenly asked, "Where's the one playing the mother? Why isn't she here yet?"

The assistant director glanced at Shao Guangji strangely, wondering why Shao Guangji would ask another question when he clearly knew about it. But he still replied, "Yang Huanyi is sick and has asked for leave from the script reading."

Yang Huanyi got the role!

Yang Huanyi is sick.

Is she seriously ill? Did she catch a cold from being caught in the rain? Why has she been sick for so long?

A mix of emotions surged within him, and Shang Ye opened his mouth, instinctively wanting to ask something.

Shao Guangji nodded: "I remember now, Cao Shi told me about this, and said he would take leave to stay home and take care of her, but I forgot."

She had Cao Shi to take care of her—Cao Shi was rich, powerful, and had resources. Ye Chu was just a backup option for her.

A wave of self-inflicted hurt washed over her, and Shang Yechu felt as if a jar of soy sauce had been spilled in her heart. She immediately stopped looking towards the door and opened the script, burying herself in it.
