Chapter 541 Ripples (2/2)

Shang Yechu tossed her phone aside and said sincerely, "Thank you, Nina."

“It’s alright,” Nina Meyer laughed. “I just said the green dress suits you very well.”

The script reading couldn't be delayed, and clarifying the rumors was of paramount importance. After returning from dinner last night, Shang Yechu stayed up all night. First, she sorted out all the baseless rumors, then she tirelessly checked on the public relations department's progress and monitored online opinions. She even stole moments to imagine whether Yang Huanyi, out of jealousy or misunderstanding, would send her a message questioning her…

Instead of receiving news from Yang Huanyi, Nina Meier knocked on the door. She was jet-lagged and couldn't sleep at night, so she brought Shang Yechu a dress through her.

The dress Nina Meyer gave her was beautiful, the fabric smooth and silky. Shang Yechu was momentarily stunned, then suddenly an idea struck her.

The studio's statement is, after all, their own. As the person in charge, they should also give an explanation to the fans.

And so, Shang Yechu, fully made up, went into action late at night, while Nina Mel, with her superb photography skills, worked tirelessly until dawn, finally producing a set of photos. They were then hastily released.

Because she hadn't slept all night, Nina Meyer kept yawning during today's script reading. She even made some incoherent remarks while reading the script, earning her several cold, sarcastic glances from Shao Guangji. This made Shang Yechu feel extremely guilty.

As soon as today's script reading session ended, Shang Yechu rushed to her room to apologize.

"Your head hurts?" Shang Yechu lifted the lid of the thermos, and the steam from the soup hit her eyes. She squinted instinctively. "This is soup that I asked the restaurant to make. It will make you feel better."

Nina caught a whiff of something fresh and sniffed curiously: "What kind of candy?"

"Lily and sea bass soup." Shang Yechu smiled and handed her the bowl of soup. "Try it, but be careful, it's hot."

Nina scooped up a spoonful and carelessly stuffed it into her mouth, only to stick out her tongue in pain from the heat: "Hot!"

This time, my pronunciation is finally standard.

“Actually, that dress is an evening gown,” Nina said in English with a thick lisp. “I wanted to see you wear it on a more important occasion.”

Shang Yechu smiled and said in English, "I've already worn it on important occasions."

Nina didn't understand what he meant, and squinted her eyes contentedly: "Okay, it's yours anyway. But I got scolded today, so you have to get your chef, who's so good at cooking, to make me soup for half a month."

"What's the big deal?" Shang Yechu felt a slight pang of regret. The price of a restaurant in the capital was still very high... and the company wouldn't reimburse her for this expense; it would all go into her pocket.

The two talked for a while, going over their lines. It wasn't until Nina finished her soup and started yawning that Shang Yechu got up to say goodbye.

Not only was Nina Mel exhausted, but Shang Yechu had also been without sleep for over twenty hours. Her eyelids were so dry they felt like they were being scraped. Back in her room, she quickly washed up and collapsed onto the mattress, ready to sleep.

Before falling into a deep sleep, Shang Yechu subconsciously wanted to call 103 to give her a deep hypnosis session. Just as she was about to call him, she suddenly remembered something.

These past two days have been so busy that Shang Yechu had completely forgotten about 103. Now, in the quiet of the night, she finally remembered the mysterious lifeguard from the video.

"103," Shang Yechu asked groggily, her head resting on the pillow, "Didn't you say that the staff from the film studio took me to the hotel?"

"Yes."

"Um, um," Shang Yechu gestured to the man in the video lifting her up with one hand, "Is he a strongman, or does he work at the film studio?"

103 asked, "What's wrong? Is there something about it that doesn't look right?"

"..." Shang Yechu yawned, "They don't look alike, they don't have the same temperament, they don't look alike at all... But in every profession... yawn - let each person do what they like."

Because of his drowsiness, Shang Yechu's speech was already somewhat incoherent.

If System 103 shut up, Shang Yechu would fall asleep within ten seconds. But the system didn't shut up; instead, it asked, "Is he bothering you?"

"How could that be?" Shang Yechu muttered. "If this is considered a problem, then I'm troubled by yawning every day."

"Did he impress you, or did he display any distinctive personal characteristics?"

"Huh?" Shang Yechu closed her eyes. "How would I know who has personal characteristics... I'm so sleepy..."

"Since you have no recollection of him, why are you suddenly asking about him?"

Shang Yechu pulled the blanket over her head: "Product research?"

The system said, "I guarantee this is the last question."

Shang Yechu pulled back the covers, closed her eyes, and her breathing gradually became long and gentle.

Just when the system thought it would never get an answer, the person on the bed suddenly let out a soft, dreamlike sound.

"It's nothing, I just wanted to... thank him in person."

Shang Yechu fell asleep.
