Chapter 558 Test Shooting (2/2)

Another test take began, and this time it went smoothly, but the result was only mediocre. There were no mistakes, but nothing particularly outstanding either. If Ye Chu's usual performance was a 95 out of 100, this time it was only a 70.

The director still seemed dissatisfied, standing off-set, silently watching Ye Chu. This time he didn't speak, but his gaze was incredibly oppressive. Everyone in the crew knew that this look meant that if the next take didn't pass, Ye Chu was in trouble.

Shang Yechu, however, was not afraid of Shao Guangji's gaze. In his previous life, Director Shao was far more frightening than he was now when he scolded Shi Shan. Once, he even said to Shi Shan in front of everyone present, "Although the movie never showed the Heavenly Emperor going to the toilet, it doesn't mean that the Heavenly Emperor needs to always have a constipated expression on his face."

Although Shang Yechu had doubts about Shi Shan's character, she still admired his mental fortitude. Despite being so humiliated by Shao Guangji, Shi Shan didn't hang himself on the spot; instead, he humbly corrected his demeanor, transforming from constipated to mysterious. Shao Guangji played a significant role in Shi Shan gaining so many female fans after the movie's release.

Shang Yechu and Shao Guangji exchanged a brief glance before quickly looking away to see Yang Huanyi's shadow.

The reason she repeatedly performed poorly was because she noticed Yang Huanyi's movements when holding the child.

In the TV series *Anna Doraemon*, there's a scene where Yang Huanyi is holding a child. The scene involves Lin Fengyu helping a self-combing woman soothe a baby. Yang Huanyi's performance is very awkward; she can't even maintain a patient expression, let alone show maternal love. It's as if she's holding a burden, not a child.

The baby was a local child, a genuine 24K purebred miniature human. The child's parents were standing nearby watching when they saw Yang Huanyi clumsily holding the baby. Overwhelmed with heartache, they rushed into the room and snatched the child back.

Finally, Luo Yao, Yang Huanyi, and Shang Yechu apologized to the parents in a roundabout way before the child was allowed to appear on camera again.

At the time, Luo Yao said with a wry smile, "Although I was scolded by the parents, the filming effect was not bad. Lin Fengyu has never given birth, so it's normal for her to hold a child like this. Sister Lin acted very well."

Yang Huanyi waved her hands repeatedly: "I wasn't acting. That child was crying in my arms, and it made my scalp tingle! If it were a prop, I would have thrown it away long ago."

Luo Yao teased, "No way, Lin Fengyu needs maternal love, maternal love!"

"Spare me," Yang Huanyi said, both amused and exasperated. "Lin Fengyu can't even love herself properly, so where would she get the maternal love from?"

At that time, Shang Yechu and Yang Huanyi weren't together yet, and she didn't have the kind of blind feelings that would later develop. She saw clearly that Yang Huanyi seemed to lack maternal instincts. Later, in that bitterly cold rain, Yang Huanyi's actions towards her daughter further proved this point. The role of "mother" seemed unsuitable for Yang Huanyi.

However, during those brief test shoots, Shang Yechu immediately noticed Yang Huanyi's appearance while holding the prop baby.

Her movements were extremely skilled and gentle. Even while running around, Yang Huanyi did her best to protect the prop baby from being crushed. The prop baby was well protected, like a rare treasure wrapped in a black cloth.

When Yang Huanyi knelt at Shang Yechu's feet, her actions became even more obvious. Instead of holding the prop baby with one hand and grabbing Shang Yechu with the other, Yang Huanyi held the baby with both hands, with one arm extended out from under the baby to grasp Shang Yechu's calf.

This movement is awkward and unsightly, but it absolutely ensures the baby's stability. Only a mother, a true mother, would make such a move.

These details left Shang Yechu in a state of utter confusion. She vaguely realized something, but was unwilling to admit it. Coupled with the hasty preparation, her performance fell far short of expectations.

Yang Huanyi stood far away from Shang Yechu, holding the dark prop baby in her arms, but her eyes were looking in Shang Yechu's direction.

Those eyes were incredibly gentle, enough to break the heart of any man or woman. But when Shang Ye looked at them, she quickly looked away.

Shao Guangji stood offstage, closing his eyes and rubbing his temples. In his original vision, the long-awaited reunion between Ye Chu and Yang Huanyi might have resonated with the Heavenly Emperor's chaotic emotions in this scene—a state of utter despair yet an inability to give up. But Ye Chu's current interpretation was clearly far removed from his expectations.

This scene was a dialogue-driven one, lacking any grand, dramatic scenes, yet it was crucial to the plot's turning point. It relied entirely on the actors' performances. Ye Chu's performance greatly disappointed him.

Shao Guangji remained silent for a long time, then sighed and waved his hand, saying, "Filming officially begins! Everyone to your positions!"
