"Cut!"
As soon as Yi Tianzhao yelled "cut," Shang Yechu rushed to Jiang Erjing's side and said anxiously, "I'm sorry, Teacher Jiang, I think I hit you a little too hard just now—does it hurt anywhere?"
Jiang Erjing was taken aback, then laughed heartily: "Oh dear! If that's the case, then I'm going to try and extort you. My old bones are aching all over!"
Jiang Erjing's words meant everything was alright. Shang Yechu breathed a sigh of relief.
On the other side, Yi Tianzhao stared intently at the monitor, his eyes glued to the screen.
Yi Tianzhao repeatedly pulled the progress bar back and forth, like oiling a zipper.
Martial arts instructor He Yuan stood dumbfounded behind Yi Tianzhao, watching the monitor screen with her.
After a long while, Yi Tianzhao let out a breath, stood up, and said politely to He Yuan, "Teacher He, your guidance was excellent."
He Yuan said, "Ah, I gave the guidance?"
He Yuan said, "Oh. I gave the guidance."
Just as the two were staring at each other, the assistant director came running over, panting: "Director Yi, Brother Yuan, we've found a stunt double. But it's not a woman, it's a very thin man, about the same build as Sister Yang. What do you two think?"
Yi Tianzhao waved his hand, "Alright, alright. Great. Quickly send him back to where he came from."
"Oh. Ah?—" The assistant director was taken aback. "Does that mean Sister Yang is willing to do it herself again?"
Martial arts director He Yuan said, "This is none of your business. You've worked hard, so I'll treat you to drinks after get off work. Go ahead."
The assistant director left, completely bewildered, inwardly cursing Yi Tianzhao and Yang Huanyi for their constant changes of mind.
Shang Yechu was covered in sweat. After confirming that Jiang Erjing hadn't been damaged, he started looking around for a towel to wipe his sweat.
The production assistant approached solicitously, holding a stack of hot towels in her hands: "Sister Ye, Sister Ye, here."
Shang Yechu glanced at the production assistant with surprise, then picked up a towel. "Thank you."
"Don't be so formal," the production assistant said with a beaming smile. "Just let me know if you need anything."
As Shang Yechu was wiping away her sweat, Yi Tianzhao and Yang Huanyi came to her side.
Yi Tianzhao spoke first: "Xiao Ye, you did a good job."
It's more than just good; judging from Yi Tianzhao's years of experience as a director, with this kind of talent, she could easily land a leading role in a low-budget martial arts film.
Yang Huanyi's attitude was more direct: "Thank you for your hard work. I've prepared a small red envelope for you. Remember to collect it after the show."
Shang Ye Chuxin understood immediately; this red envelope was hush money.
"Thank you, Director Yi and Teacher Yang." Shang Yechu smiled modestly, looking a little shy. "It's been so long since I've played, I'm actually a bit rusty."
Yi Tianzhao patted Shang Yechu on the shoulder, "You're too modest. Apart from that first jump, everything else was very good."
Shang Yechu tactfully suggested, "Then, shall I reshoot that scene?"
Yi Tianzhao was pleased with Shang Yechu's understanding: "Since you don't mind the trouble, let's do it again. How are you feeling? Tired now?"
Shang Yechu said modestly, "A little, but if it's just one jump, it's still okay."
Yang Huanyi was right next to her. If Shang Yechu said she wasn't tired at all, Yang Huanyi, who was using a stand-in because she was too tired, might not feel very comfortable.
"Okay." Yi Tianzhao nodded. "Let's do it as soon as possible."
Shang Yechu followed the machine's long robe and flowing sleeves and jumped once more. This time, the jump was perfect, and even He Yuan couldn't find any fault with it.
Jiang Erjing was standing next to He Yuan. The two were old friends and often chatted on set.
Jiang Erjing asked, "What do you think of that child?"
"What do you mean, how is it?"
Jiang Erjing glanced at He Yuan: "Don't play dumb with me. Can't you tell?"
