Shang Yechu looked confused: "Why didn't you say it in private?"
Sergei blinked, his long eyelashes casting a shadow over his eyes: "Teacher Lev is concerned about his image. He might not take it to heart if we say it in private. But if we say it in front of everyone, he might be unhappy, but he can't let it go in public. Besides, you are a woman. Lev Pavlovich hates men lecturing him, but he's willing to listen to a lady a little more."
Shang Yechu gave a cryptic laugh: "I think we should talk about this in private. I already angered him last time. If I embarrass him in public this time, he'll tear me apart again."
Sergei showed a slight disapproval: "Ye, you don't understand Director Lev. If this problem can't be solved the first time it's raised, it will never be solved. You have to listen to me."
Shang Yechu picked up the cup and gulped down two large mouthfuls of milk.
Sergei suddenly stopped.
Shang Yechu put down her glass and smiled, "Why did you stop talking?"
Sergei unconsciously stroked the table in front of him with one hand.
“Speak,” Shang Yechu said sneer, “I see you’ve already arranged everything perfectly, every step and component is in place. All I need to do is act as a megaphone and a human trumpet. Beep beep beep—”
Shang Yechu rolled his hand into a tube, held it to his lips, pinched his nose, and mockingly blew out three strange sounds.
"Are you satisfied now?" Shang Yechu asked with a smile.
Sergei's expression was one of barely concealed shock, like a young man who had just discovered a spirited young woman riding a ghost in his bedroom. He glanced instinctively in the direction of Shang Yechu's bodyguard in the distance, but the bodyguard remained unmoved, sitting perfectly still as if nothing was amiss.
Sergei frowned: "Ye, you're not willing?"
"Beep beep beep—"
Sergei reached out and rearranged the tableware in front of him, as if trying to shake off the mental pollution Shang Yechu had inflicted on him: "This is the most efficient and effortless way. I don't see how it would make you uncomfortable."
Shang Yechu lowered her hand, looking at him incredulously. She had never seen such a strange person who arranged everything for others without asking, and who kept saying, "You have to listen to me." Shang Yechu hated being controlled, but Sergei's attitude was so matter-of-fact, as if he were her father whom she had only met twice, which made her feel a sense of absurd confusion.
"If you're willing, why don't you go and say it yourself?" Shang Yechu regretted that Sergei couldn't understand Chinese, otherwise she would have already unleashed her full power. "You're unwilling to do things, yet you've arranged them for me so precisely. If you want to sell scrap, you should at least ask others if they're willing to be a recycling center!"
“I did not treat you as a dumping ground. If I pointed out his mistakes, Mr. Lev would not correct them, but would only become more insistent on his own opinions; only when an outsider like you pointed them out would he be willing to think deeply. This has nothing to do with whether I want to or not. If I really don’t want to, it’s just that I don’t want to do anything unnecessary.”
Shang Yechu took a deep breath and smiled, "Do this: stand up, turn left, go out, and go downstairs. There's a pancake stall on the right after you cross the street."
"Aren't you full yet?" Sergei raised his eyebrows.
Shang Yechu said, "Come on, let me teach you: You—have—listen—to—my—five syllables, understand? Go and repeat these five syllables to the stall owner, and see if the owner says thank you to you, or if he slaps you across the face with a raw dough pancake."
“You’re being utterly unreasonable.” Sergei waved his hand, scattering the cutlery in front of him again. “I thought you shared my opinion of Kovalev.”
"We both agree on this glass of milk," Shang Yechu exaggeratedly mimicked Sergei's tone, "that is, it's drinkable. But, would you need someone to teach you step by step how to drink milk? Baby~ You must listen to Mommy~ Grandpa Lev is fierce, Uncle Sergei is scared, scared, scared~"
Sergei suddenly stood up. Shang Yechu thought he was going to make a move and cause some international trouble in the restaurant. But he just lowered his head and looked at Shang Yechu without saying a word.
Suddenly, Sergei raised his hand, grabbed the cup in front of Shang Yechu, tilted his head back, and drank the remaining milk in the cup in one gulp.
Shang Yechu: "..."
With a clang, Sergei shoved the cup back in front of Shang Yechu and left without a word.
Shang Yechu was dumbfounded.
