Chapter 677 Box Office Fantasy (1/2)

Chapter 677 Box Office Fantasy "Xiao Ye," came the screenwriter Lu's distressed voice through the voice message, "Let's all go to today's script reading later."

Shang Yechu typed a few words: 【Why?】

Screenwriter Lu said, "I heard that the Russian lead actor got into a fight with the director and screenwriter. It seems they started by arguing on the phone, and then Director Lev and the screenwriter stormed into the meeting room we had arranged to meet, without even putting on their coats. They argued there. It was a really fierce fight. Their translator told my translator, and then my translator told me."

Shang Yechu chuckled dryly and knocked, saying, "[How could this be? What's all this noise about?]"

“Who knows,” screenwriter Lu complained, “but it’s not surprising, the lead actor looks like a troublemaker. Anyway, let’s wait until they call it a day before we go. I’ll let you know after the translator reports back.”

Shang Yechu typed: 【Thanks, Editor Lu. I'll wait for your notification.】 She also sent a cute emoji.

Shang Yechu put down her phone, and a rough roar came from the other side of the wall: "%@¥&*!"

Due to the soundproofing effect of the walls, coupled with the speaker's rapid pace and emotional outburst, Shang Yechu couldn't hear clearly. She could only make out that it was a swear word.

Unbeknownst to screenwriter Lu, Shang Yechu had overheard the entire conflict between Sergei and director Lev, among others.

During breakfast, Sergei finished Shang Yechu's leftover milk and left. Shang Yechu stood there stunned for a few seconds, then had to get a new cup, pour herself a fresh drink, and hastily finish eating and drinking.

After going downstairs, Shang Yechu went straight to the conference room. As soon as she entered, she saw Sergei texting someone.

As Shang Yechu passed by Sergei, she glanced at him casually and keenly caught a few familiar words between the lines. Old Sergei seemed to be messaging Director Lev. They were talking about Kovalev's acting.

Shang Yechu felt a little embarrassed, but also a little amused. She hadn't expected Lao Xie to be so proactive.

An even more awkward situation followed. After Sergei sent a few messages, Director Lev called. Even without speakerphone, Shang Yechu and her assistants could hear the roar on the other end of the line, the first thing he said being, "You brat, what nonsense are you spouting!"

Sergei said something in a respectful yet indifferent tone, speaking so quickly that Shang Yechu couldn't quite make out what he was saying. Director Lev's long string of words was already pouring in.

Shang Yechu really wanted to eavesdrop, so she shamelessly sat in her original spot, pretending that she didn't understand. But soon, she couldn't keep up the act anymore, because Director Lev had asked Sergei to wait in the conference room; he wanted to ask him questions in person.

Not wanting to get involved in the teacher-student conflict, Shang Yechu gave her assistant and translators a wink and slipped out of the conference room under Sergei's complicated gaze.

No one can influence this matter. Only Russia can decide on the changes to the Russian protagonist's character; if China interferes, it could be seen as bullying.

Shang Yechu thought it over. Although the debate was between Sergei and his teacher, Sergei was a formidable figure and quite tall, while Director Lev was old and frail; he didn't want to risk being beaten to death. So, he booked the lounge next to the script meeting room and waited there with his assistants to eavesdrop. In case things got awkward, they could rush in and break up the fight.

So, Shang Yechu and the others listened to Lev's roar and Mikhail's furious howl for more than ten minutes in the next room.
