Chapter 73 Purification

During dinner, Sun Xiaoxiao opened the Old Wine Shop Forum again.

The atmosphere on the Old Wine Shop forum is great, with lots of fan-created content. One author has even written a long fanfiction about Xiao Fengque and Mianmian, which has already been serialized for three chapters.

Although the fanfiction portrayed Xie An as a treacherous villain and a cannon fodder character, which angered many Xie An fans on the forum, most readers were drawn in by the movie and hadn't read the original novel, so they didn't care.

Sun Xiaoxiao disliked Yang Huanyi's portrayal of Xiao Fengque, so she didn't read any fanfiction. Instead, she opened the chat section of the teahouse and tavern to see if anyone had any interesting topics to discuss that day.

[Breaking News! Xiao Fengque's 20-year-old fanbase has been purified through fan abuse!]

The title of the post was very provocative, and Sun Xiaoxiao immediately clicked on it out of curiosity.

[As the title suggests, does everyone still remember "Ai Sanwu's Kui Kui·Feng Bao Benming"? I saw today that she changed her Weibo nickname and bio!]

What's changed to? Let me see it.

【[screenshot]】

In the screenshot, KuiKui·FengBao, who loves Sanwu, has changed her ID to "KuiKui·Return Xiao Fengque," and her bio reads: 【Xiao Fengque is my eternal ultimate white moonlight | I only love Xiao Fengque! I'm only on Weibo for Fengbao♡♡♡ I politely decline any fans of the 1985 film, Xiao Fengque fans, or fans of characters whose careers have collapsed! I also politely decline any fans who want more screen time! I'm leaving CTS Channel 6's *Tianji Lou*!】

[Oh my god, has the CP (couple) fandom become more refined?]

[It's hard not to purify Xie Bazi's acting skills, given how badly he portrayed the character.]

[I find it strange. It's not like Xie An did anything wrong that Li Yi acted badly. Xie An is pretty unlucky to be played by such a guy...]

[Yes, what is the relationship between Li Yi and Xie An? Why was Kui Kui purified?]

[Breaking news! KuiKui has done something big! Everyone hurry to Weibo!]

What did Kui Kui do? Sun Xiaoxiao's curiosity immediately burned, and she couldn't sit still. She quickly opened Weibo and searched for "Kui Kui·Return Xiao Fengque" according to the ID in the picture.

I clicked into their profile and wow!

Director Yi Tianzhao, please apologize to the fans!

Please return Xiao Fengque's scenes and highlights free of charge!

Since learning that the "Tianji Tower" project had been approved, fans of the novel who love Xiao Fengque have repeatedly pleaded with director Yi Tianzhao, hoping that Xiao Fengque would receive fair treatment.

More than fifty years have passed since "The Phoenix Plays with the Dragon" was first published, but in the hearts of fans, the character Xiao Fengque will forever remain young. Our love for her is no less than any other kind of love in the world.

We were full of hope when we learned that the "Tianji Tower" project was about to be handed over to director Yi Tianzhao. This is because CHTV-6 is the official movie channel, and director Yi Tianzhao is a renowned and excellent director.

We believed that Xiao Fengque, a character whose life was filled with hardship during the adaptation process, could receive the treatment he deserved from fair and wise people; we believed that the "curse" and stigma surrounding Xiao Fengque could be washed away this time.

On January 14th, I waited in front of the movie channel with great anticipation, almost reverently, hoping to see my beloved character and the excellent production of CTS.

But what did we get in return?

It's a drastic alteration! It's been cut! It's countless instances of perfunctory work and misappropriation!

Please see my screenshots. Since Weibo only allows nine-grid posts, I've compiled all the images into seven long strips. In fact, there are as many as fifty major alterations to Xiao Fengque's scenes in "Tianji Tower"!

The highlights that belonged to Xiao Fengque were appropriated for unrelated male and female supporting characters; Xiao Fengque's lines were spoken by other characters; and Xiao Fengque's "Wind Whisper Blade" was completely deleted!

We are in immense pain. We don't know what the outcome of this fight for our rights will be, but we will resolutely refuse to compromise and will do everything in our power to get the answer that is rightfully ours!

We want to know whether this work is "Tianji Tower" with Xiao Fengque as the female lead, or "The Legend of Xie An", "The Legend of the Courtesan", or "The Legend of Xiao Fengque (Soy Sauce)".

We want to know why the story was drastically altered and cut, highlighting and cutting out Xiao Fengque's moments and most precious qualities, thus erasing the character's most valuable traits.

We want to know whether the mission of CTS Channel 6 is to "create cultural products that are popular with the people" or to "make up and distort cultural products that are popular with the people"!

Fans of Xiao Fengque are launching a public lottery to protest, and our demands are as follows:

1. We urge @CHTV-6 official Weibo account and @Director Yi Tianzhao to address the demands of the fans and provide us with a reasonable explanation;

2. According to documents on the official website of the China Film Bureau, two more installments of the "Phoenix Plays with Dragon" series are about to begin filming. We refuse to cut or misappropriate Xiao Fengque's highlight scenes in the upcoming films! Please respect the book fans and respect Xiao Fengque!

We don't know what the outcome of this rights protection effort will be. The power of the Phoenix fans is too small, too small to contend with some behemoths. But we will not give up.

For her, for Xiao Fengque's sixteen years, for my twenty years, and for the fifty years of countless book fans since the publication of "Phoenix Plays with Dragon".

Finally, let me conclude this desperate fight for justice with a line from Ah Feng's character.

"If I cannot win every battle, then I will die a hundred times without regret."
