Chapter 79 The Tea Room (1/2)

When Shang Yechu transferred the money, she had just finished playing a minor role in a film crew.

Today is February 7th, three days before the Lunar New Year. However, Hengshi Film City shows no signs of shutting down; various film crews are still working feverishly. This situation will continue until Lunar New Year's Eve.

Furthermore, as the year draws to a close, many extras have gone home, making the price per extra even more expensive.

Good-looking and talented extras still have no trouble finding work in Hengshi.

In three weeks, Shang Yechu landed two major feature roles, two medium-sized feature roles, and several minor feature roles. The types of work were quite diverse, including movies, TV movies, TV series, and even acting in a few short films and playing an extra in the New Year.

Things are different now. After playing the courtesan in "Tianji Tower," Shang Yechu has gained a little fame. Not much—as light as duckweed, as insignificant as a mustard seed—but it's enough to make a little money.

Taking advantage of the end of the year, Shang Yechu made a fortune, not only making up for the deficit of more than 10,000 yuan, but also hiring several scissor-cutters to do business with Shang.

After all the ups and downs, Shang Yechu still has two thousand yuan left over today.

In two days, the film studio will be completely shut down. Shang Yechu will also need to consider where he will go during the Spring Festival.

The neighbors on the pedestrian street had all gone back to their hometowns for the Spring Festival. No matter how good Grandma Hu was to Shang Yechu, Shang Yechu wouldn't have the nerve to go to her house for the Spring Festival.

Lying in the bookstore warehouse on New Year's Eve was rather unrealistic, so Shang Yechu decided to find a cheap hotel and make do for a few days.

Just as Shang Yechu was making her calculations, a call came in from an unfamiliar number.

Shang Yechu answered the phone politely, "Hello, who is this?"

"Xiao Ye," the voice on the other end of the phone sounded tired, "Do you have time now?"

Shang Yechu paused, her tone surprised: "Director Yi?"

Yi Tianzhao arranged to meet Shang Yechu.

The meeting place wasn't very formal; it was a tea room.

The requirements for entering the tea room were quite strict. If Yi Tianzhao hadn't given prior notice, Shang Yechu wouldn't have been able to get in.

Shang Yechu changed her shoes, pushed open the sliding bamboo door of the private room, and paused in her steps.

There were quite a few people in the private room.

There were four people in the private room. Shang Ye recognized three of them: Yi Tianzhao, Teacher Jiang Aihua, and Li Yi. The only man he didn't recognize was a bald, thin man whose few remaining hairs were stubbornly combed towards the middle, making it look like he was wearing a reflector.

Shang Yechu first greeted Jiang Aihua and the others: "Teacher Jiang, Director Yi, how should we address this senior?"

The bald, skinny man said, "My surname is Zeng."

"Hello, Teacher Zeng." Shang Yechu nodded to Li Yi again. "Li Yi, you're here too."

Li Yi looked thinner than two months ago. Upon hearing this, she stood up and greeted Shang Yechu, "Please sit down."

Shang Yechu glanced at Jiang Shang Nongchaosheng, then at Yi Tianzhao and the bald man surnamed Zeng.

"Sit down, it's the New Year, no need for so many formalities," Jiang Shang Nongchaosheng said with a smile.

Zeng the Bald spoke quickly, and although he had a smile on his face, his eyes were urgent: "It's important, let's not beat around the bush."

The table was round, and Shang Yechu chose a seat closest to the door.

"Director Yi, why did you call me here today?" Shang Yechu began hesitantly.
