Part Two | Chainsaws, I'm back...
Last time, we talked about the first episode of "The Tale of Clouds." It featured the outrageous actions of the scumbag emperor, Qin Tianye.
But even someone who so clearly embodies scum was once a human being... He once yearned for something unattainable, had a past that could be called "love," and... a lifelong regret...
You might be wondering, does this old man who treats human life like dirt understand what love is? His love is like vegetables on a clearance sale at the market at 10 a.m.—who would want it…?
I thought so too before watching the second episode.
First, a disclaimer: I'm not a fan of anyone in particular. My only liking is my ex-husband, Liao Li. I have absolutely no goodwill towards that Su family member with connections, and I don't like Qin Tianye, that middle-aged man. The following comments are entirely from the perspective of a drama fan and have nothing to do with these two actors themselves. If any fans want to judge these two, I wholeheartedly support it…
The first episode of "Yun Qing Ji" ended amidst a bittersweet mix of laughter and merriment. I immediately followed up with the second episode.
The second episode is a completely separate story. The first episode is called "The Tale of Auspicious Omens," and the second episode is called "The Tale of Cursing." As the titles suggest, the second episode is a story related to witchcraft and sorcery.
The scumbag emperor Qin Tianye often suffers from nightmares and hallucinations. He asks the most dedicated tool in palace intrigue dramas—the imperial physician—to examine him. The physician says that someone has used witchcraft on the emperor!
It turns out that this imperial physician was actually bribed by a concubine named Consort Zhen—yes, this imperial physician also had a woman he deeply loved, namely Consort Zhen's head maid. For the sake of the head maid, the imperial physician and Consort Zhen became allies.
Consort Zhen wanted to frame a concubine who had offended her. However, this clever and resourceful new favorite concubine turned the tables, framing Consort Zhen herself by burying a small wooden figure in Consort Zhen's palace…

Then came the climax: the emperor ordered a thorough search of the six palaces, and the wooden stake was dug out—
As a result, the wooden stake was not dug out in Consort Zhen's palace, nor in Consort Bao's palace, but in Consort Xu's palace, where she was watching the show with a blank and innocent expression!
Five bewildered faces should be displayed here:
Consort Zhen: ...
Precious Person: ...
Consort Xu: ...
Imperial Physician: ...
Head maid: ...
Then Consort Xu was convicted, and although she kept crying out that she was innocent, no one cared.
Then, Emperor Qin's outrageous actions continued.
Consort Xu's father was named Xu Ban, and her second uncle was named Xu Hu. Both were former officials who fought alongside the corrupt emperor to establish the empire, with Xu Ban being the leader of the military generals. Because Consort Xu used witchcraft, her father and uncle were highly suspected of cursing the emperor.
With a stroke of his pen, the old scoundrel ordered the Xuanwu Guards to search Xu Ban and Xu Hu's homes. Of course, they didn't find the little wooden figure, but as expected, they found five hundred suits of armor. Thus, the entire Xu family was completely wiped out.
Suddenly, Emperor Qin's headache and nightmares vanished. He feigned shedding a couple of tears in front of his officials and then issued an edict ordering the entire Xu family to depart. Since witchcraft was taboo in all dynasties, and the possession of armor was highly suspicious, no one pleaded for the Xu family.
After seeing the Xu family off, the scumbag emperor returned to his palace.
The following section is the climax of the entire series... Warning, warning, the following part may contain mindless, drug-addicted remarks, so please be aware!
The smug emperor returned to his palace and suddenly found someone sitting by the window, fanning himself.
Upon seeing this person, the emperor's profound and cold demeanor, as well as those few pretentious cat tears, all vanished!
The scumbag emperor is going crazy!
video.
The scumbag emperor started going on and on like a madman!
video.
Yes, he felt no remorse or remorse for the deaths of his two old friends; on the contrary, he felt he had acted too late!
Qin Tianye's acting here is absolutely phenomenal. He brings to life a selfish, self-centered, arrogant, hypocritical, power-hungry dictator. If you're not careful, you might even be brainwashed by him and think that the Xu family and all those unlucky bastards really deserved to die...
But what I want to talk about isn't Qin Tianye's acting skills, but... Su Ge's.
No matter how blatantly Qin the Scumbag Emperor acted, Su Ge looked at him with deep affection, even offering him a look of heartache...
this;
this;
And this too.
Even though there wasn't a single line of dialogue, it gave me goosebumps!
