Chapter 278 Lunar New Year's Eve Feast (Part 3)
Xie Tu is very self-disciplined and never touches a drop of alcohol; he doesn't even know what alcohol tastes like.
The teammates cheered them on.
"It'll be fine to try a little, Captain, don't be so nosy." Duan Xi said, striking a cool pose as he put one foot on the stool and opened a beer.
Rabbit also agreed, "That's right, Sister Yun Zhao said she'll only drink a little, she won't get drunk."
Tao Haohao helped get the cup and poured half a glass of beer for Yun Zhao without saying a word. "It's just half a glass, Captain, would you like some too?"
Without waiting for a reply, he took out another glass, filled it completely, and placed it in front of Xie Tu.
"Do you want Qi Ling?" Tao Haohao asked him, holding up a bottle of wine.
Qi Ling only had eyes for meat. He was only eating two meals a day, morning and evening. He hadn't eaten lunch and was starving.
"I can't drink." He can only eat meat now.
Eating other foods causes excruciating pain all over the body, like being poisoned, which is extremely uncomfortable.
"Then let's drink!"
Tao Haohao didn't force anyone and poured drinks for everyone except Qi Ling.
A group of people acted first and informed others later.
Xie Tu didn't say anything more after seeing this.
The sky outside was gradually darkening.
Heavy snow was falling halfway up the mountain, and the strong winds made the training facilities groan and rattle.
Inside, the warm yellow light created a cozy little world.
It was warm as springtime.
Yun Zhao picked up the cup and sniffed it; a faint aroma of malt lingered around his nose.
It doesn't smell bad.
Duan Xi was the first to raise his glass, swirling it in the light, the foam from the beer leaving streaks on the glass.
"Come on, let's have a drink first, Happy Lunar New Year's Eve!"
Happy Lunar New Year's Eve!
Yun Zhao picked up the cup and took a small sip. His tongue was instantly enveloped by a slightly bitter taste with a hint of sweetness and the stimulating sensation of bubbles.
Her brows furrowed slightly.
It doesn't taste good, it's a bit bitter...
Yun Zhao looked up and observed his surroundings, noticing his teammates tilting their heads back and downing their beers in one gulp.
Sitting next to her, Xie Tu had a calm expression and spoke briefly and in a cool voice when talking to his teammates.
His cup was empty at some point.
Yun Zhao thought it was only half a cup, so he simply drank it down in one gulp.
After everyone finished their drinks, they made a wish while looking into their empty glasses.
"Eliminate even more contaminated areas next year! May everyone return safely!"
"Let's end this cannibalistic world as soon as possible! Team Zero is the strongest!"
"Will there be plenty of fruit to eat at the farm next year?"
"Probably. There are a lot of greenhouses over there on the back hill. I want to eat cherries, but I don't know what they taste like..."
Upon hearing this, Yun Zhao remembered her favorite strawberry flavor; fresh strawberries must taste delicious.
She couldn't help but feel a little expectant.
The scene gradually became lively.
Tao Haohao opened two more bottles of beer and then filled everyone's glasses.
Seeing this, Yun Zhao pushed his glass forward and said, "I'd like red wine."
The beer didn't taste good.
She'll try others.
Duan Xi is studying how to open a wine bottle cap.
After looking at it for a long time, I still couldn't figure it out, so I thought I might as well just cut a hole in it.
"I can drive," Qi Ling said weakly, holding up the chopsticks in her hand.
He held his chopsticks the whole time, but no one else touched them.
His good upbringing made him too embarrassed to urge him, so he could only swallow his saliva and wait.
Duan Xi didn't stand on ceremony with him, "Let's open it, Yun Zhao can drink, we'll drink beer."
"Captain, why aren't you drinking?"
Tao Haohao shouted, "We've all had our third drink, and the captain hasn't even touched his second one. Is he scared?"
Xie Tu merely glanced at him indifferently.
Those eyes were like cold, icy stars, causing Tao Haohao's laughter to catch in his throat.
Xie Tu then turned his head, his expression still maintaining its usual composure. "Eat and drink at the same time." After saying that, he picked up his chopsticks and first put two pieces of pork ribs into Yun Zhao's bowl.
Yun Zhao, who was standing next to him, was still studying the red wine.
Qi Ling told her a lot of things, like shaking it, smelling it, and only then could she drink it.
Yun Zhao found it too troublesome and didn't really want to drink it anymore.
"Are there so many rules about drinking alcohol?" she couldn't help but ask.
Qi Ling kept her eyes fixed on the meat and nodded subconsciously, "Red wine isn't for drinking, it's for personal use."
The rabbit interjected, "But we got this wine from the supermarket. It still had the price tag on it when we got it. It was only a few dozen yuan a bottle. Why do you want to taste it?"
Qi Ling: "...I don't know, I've never drunk something this cheap before."
Upon hearing this, Yun Zhao simply drank it down.
A sudden burst of sourness assaulted my taste buds, like unripe wild fruit being roughly squeezed to extract its juice, with a slightly sharp and pungent sensation.
A faint taste of alcohol spreads, mixed with an indescribable bitterness, and spreads freely in the mouth.
It tastes strange.
Yun Zhao didn't really like it; she preferred sweet milk tea.
Adhering to the principle of not wasting resources.
Yun Zhao finished the wine in his glass before starting to eat the food in his bowl.
The man next to her kept piling food onto her plate, and in just a short time, her bowl was almost overflowing.
The atmosphere became extremely lively.
The sentries drank one cup after another, egging each other on, and started placing all sorts of bets at the dinner table.
Qi Ling buried himself in eating meat, almost without stopping.
The meal lasted from evening until late at night, and Song Liang even went to reheat the dishes twice during the meal.
*
When the party finally ended, they helped each other leave, still feeling quite unsatisfied.
The rabbit who drank the least was in charge of driving.
"Captain, Sister Yun Zhao, we're leaving now. We'll come back to pack up tomorrow."
Yun Zhao had already fallen asleep lying to the side. She only groggily raised her head when she heard someone call her name.
Everyone thought she was drunk.
Actually, she was just sleepy.
Recently, because she has to go to the counseling room every day, she has a regular schedule and goes to bed at nine o'clock every night.
It's almost midnight, and she's so sleepy she can barely keep her eyes open. She hasn't eaten much, what a waste of all that food.
The rabbit received no response and did not disturb her. It simply closed the door and told the spirits to leave.
The little ones weren't afraid of the cold and kept having a snowball fight in the snow.
They played for as long as the commotion inside the house lasted.
Because of the alcohol, they were also somewhat affected. Hearing the call, they staggered over, then suddenly disappeared into the snow, returning to their respective spiritual realms.
The little bluebird tilted its head and stared at the fire phoenix.
I saw it flying erratically, crashing headfirst into a tree, where it was buried by falling snowflakes and disappeared from sight.
The little bluebird laughed mercilessly.
The house was in complete disarray.
Most of the people left, leaving only the three of them in an instant.
Qi Ling felt extremely satisfied after getting a free meal. She slowly stood up and said, "Um, thank you... Captain, I'm going back to rest now."
Xie Tu lowered his head and fiddled with the communicator, giving a faint "hmm".
No one noticed anything unusual.
Qi Ling greeted Yun Zhao again, opened the door, and went back to the metal hut across the street.
Yun Zhao was in a daze for a while before finally coming to her senses. She stood up and put on her coat. "Let's go, I should go back too."
Xie Tu stood up upon hearing the sound.
He remained quiet throughout the second half of the game.
He was always quiet and aloof, but when drinking or serving food to Yun Zhao, his hand never trembled.
So much so that no one noticed anything unusual.
Yun Zhao noticed that a faint blush had crept onto his face, giving off a slightly drunken look under the lamplight, and belatedly realized what was happening.
Are you drunk?
