Chapter 325 Cleanup Operation

Chapter 325 Cleanup Operation

Day 27 of the zombie apocalypse.

On the fifth day after Team Zero arrived, the cleanup operation began.

When Yun Zhao and Rabbit came downstairs, their teammates were standing in the lobby stuffing ammunition into their backpacks.

The ammunition transported to the island was not stored elsewhere; it was all piled up in the lobby.

Faced with overwhelming force, no survivor dared to touch their belongings.

Tao Haohao was a heavy weapons specialist. He bent over and took out all the unused items from his marching backpack, trying to load as much ammunition as possible.

Each person was also carrying more than one gun.

Xie Tu stood alone not far away. When he saw her come down, he waved to her.

When she got closer, Xie Tu said, "Today we'll start cleaning up from the neighboring C Island and D Island. Not everyone needs to go. You and Rabbit can stay on the island."

“Okay.” Yun Zhao nodded.

The other two separate islands are located to the left and right of the docking point.

They are separated only by a riverbed.

After a few days' delay, Team Zero made full preparations, determined to wipe out all the zombies in the city and end this apocalypse for the gatekeeper.

The teammates got ready and prepared to set off.

Yun Zhao and Rabbit went out with them.

The little bluebird glanced at the fire phoenix circling around it: [Go get to work.]

Fire Phoenix happily agreed.

In the past, Xie Tu would always grumble and complain when he ordered it to do things, but it was very happy when the little bluebird gave the order.

Qi Ling wasn't there, so I got up and went to the hotel next door.

As a mutant, he was not afraid to come into contact with those people.

Xie Tu then told him to go over and see if he could get another key from the crowd.

Although the island is now safe, the zombies keep evolving.

The survivors, worried that zombies would eventually climb onto the island via the water, were discussing with Qi Ling on the first floor about continuing to build defensive fortifications.

Just then, I saw officers carrying weapons passing by the hotel entrance.

Where are they going?

"I don't know, it looks like they're going to leave the island?"

Jing Yao looked up and asked, "Qi Ling, what are the officers' plans? Perhaps we can help."

He was a veteran, after all, and he knew how to use firearms.

However, so far, none of the military personnel in the management have any intention of distributing weapons and ammunition to the public.

After stammering for a while, Qi Ling finally said truthfully, "We plan to clear the zombies from the two neighboring islands today, so we don't need everyone's help for the time being."

No matter how kind the survivors are to help, they want to work together to build a safe base.

But they are ultimately mutants and could turn against us at any time.

The captain couldn't possibly issue them guns and ammunition, nor could he allow them to participate in Zero Team's operations.

"I see. Then we really can't be of any help."

The other survivors didn't think much of it.

"The officers are all superhumans; we'll only cause trouble if we go."

"When will we awaken our superpowers? The zombies are evolving, what are we going to do if this continues?"

"I don't know, let's leave it to fate."

"Don't worry, with the officers here, we're safe for now. Let's try to build some fortifications on the shore first, otherwise the zombies will definitely be able to climb up when the water rises."

Jingyao looked at the group of worried yet optimistic strangers and sighed.

The difference in physical abilities between people with superpowers and ordinary people is too great; they probably wouldn't be of much help if they went along.

*

Yun Zhao followed them to the small port to the north.

The lower-lying mooring area had long been enclosed by a three-meter-high, arc-shaped wall about ten meters long, which blocked the view.

Tao Haohao dragged over two small boats tied with hemp ropes.

The sentries, carrying heavy backpacks, took a running start and easily scaled the wall.

The phoenix has already taken to the sky.

Flames erupted from its body, igniting a raging inferno. It quickly completed its transformation, and the enormous phoenix flew to Island C to carry out its first large-scale cleanup.

With millions of zombies roaming the city, it's impossible to know how long it would take to clear them using only small, incremental teams.

Xie Tu held a meeting last night and decided to abandon the scattered small portions of supplies and adopt a large-scale, coordinated attack to clear them out of the city center as soon as possible.

The teammates have already scaled the high wall.

Xie Tu turned his head and looked towards the shore.

He didn't say anything, just glanced at Yun Zhao, turned around, nimbly jumped over the high wall, onto the small boat, and rowed towards the island opposite.

The high wall blocked the view.

Yun Zhao could not see his teammates boarding the ship.

She stood on the shore for a while, and in the distance, a phoenix engulfed in flames swooped down, while the howls of zombies could be faintly heard.

Before long, thick smoke began to rise from the opposite island.

It looks like things will go smoothly.

Yun Zhao suddenly remembered something, "They didn't have breakfast, did they?"

Rabbit: "..." Sister Yun Zhao's focus is always different.

"Don't worry about them, they won't starve themselves even if others go hungry."

The rabbits all saw it. Duan Xi stuffed food into his bag and even secretly took a can of yellow peaches.

Yun Zhao said, "That's true, then let's go back first."

With Fire Phoenix around, the four of them should be back by noon.

There were six people when they went out, but only two girls came back.

Ren Xin was playing in the lobby.

She was the only child on the island, with no companions. Now that the island was safe, her mother finally felt relieved and allowed her to move around and play in a small area.

Ren Xin saw Yun Zhao and happily ran out to greet her, "Sister Yun Zhao, is there any work to do today?"

The children's work is easy; moving things is more like a group game for them, and they can even get strawberry milk in return.

But even at this hour, Mom and the uncles and aunts are still in the hotel.

Yun Zhao pondered, "It might be later, how about we get some rest in the morning?"

We definitely need to continue finding things for the survivors to do.

Idleness can easily lead to trouble and is unfair to those who arrived on the island first.

Survivors cannot carry weapons, but they can help scavenge supplies throughout the city.

Whether it's the fortifications on the shore or the transport of supplies off the island, it's best to arrange them as soon as possible.

Ren Xin looked a little disappointed. "Okay."

The rabbit felt a pang of sadness, but deliberately kept a cold expression on its face.

Ren Xin was a little afraid of her. She glanced at her timidly, then turned and ran back to the hotel. "Sister Yun Zhao, I'm going back now."

The rabbit whispered after the person had run away, "Sister Yun Zhao should avoid contact with them."

If feelings are formed, in the end, you can only watch helplessly as they turn into monsters and pounce on you.

How painful must it be to feel inside?

If it were a Sentinel, the mental realm would definitely be thrown into turmoil.

Yun Zhao did not answer immediately, but instead led the rabbit back to their hotel.

She understood all these principles, but the clues lay with these people. Without contacting them, she couldn't understand what the gatekeeper was trying to say.

The survivors in this contaminated area are perfectly normal.

Logically, the more normal the organisms that appear in the contaminated area, the stronger the gatekeeper's ability.

It can even implant a false memory into all survivors, manipulating them to survive according to the rules of the zombie apocalypse.

The more normal something is, the more abnormal it is.

Yun Zhao glanced at the key on his waist, a sealed device the size of a cigarette pack. The outer shell was made of a very soft material, and if you didn't look closely, you would hardly notice it hanging on your waist.

Xie Tu handed the key to her because he was afraid she would suffer a backlash.

Yun Zhao was still pondering where the last person representing the sun was.

Peach Blossom Island?
