Chapter 52 Playing the Villain
It was late at night.
A black line, emitting a dark aura, spread along the darkness and gradually approached the villa's courtyard.
The black lines seemed to be alive, twisting and climbing, making a "sizzling" corrosion sound wherever they passed.
Two security guards, holding flashlights, walked stiffly to the front of the villa's gate. Their skin slowly split open, revealing sharp, saw-like teeth.
The black lines multiplied and intertwined, forming a huge black spider web that enveloped the villa.
The little bluebird perched on the bay window on the second floor.
Before going to sleep, the bird took a small basket, covered it with a thick blanket, and used it as a nest for resting.
It stood arrogantly, glancing sideways at the scene below.
【Rubbish. 】
Countless cyan-green fluorescent lights swept through the area with lightning speed, like a blizzard, completely enveloping the black lines and the mutant species.
Under the light, the mutant writhed in agony before gradually falling silent.
The noises that had been coming from several rooms inside the villa suddenly went silent.
The rabbit's hand had just touched the sniper rifle when it paused, then it silently withdrew its hand and tiptoed back to the big bed.
On the other side of the bed.
Yun Zhao lay on his side with his back to her, one arm bent under his head and the other hand resting on his chest, his breathing even and steady.
She was really tired and was sleeping soundly; she didn't wake up.
Everyone slept well that night.
*
Morning.
The corrected time showed 8:05, but it was still pitch black outside. The dim yellow landscape lights in the villa area emitted a faint glow, struggling to create a small halo in the thick darkness.
The city is still flashing neon lights, seemingly forever in the midst of a noisy night.
The world as Orange perceived it had never been so clear.
After he got up, he went out to buy breakfast and quickly returned with two large boxes filled with a lot of food.
Steamed buns, noodles, rice noodles, porridge, hamburgers, fried dough sticks, milk...
The old days were good.
You can buy food whenever you want, no matter the time.
With a sigh, Orange served breakfast to everyone one by one. "This lavish breakfast might be the last one."
Jiang Mu, who had just gotten up, kicked him, saying, "Can't you speak properly? You're talking like you're about to be executed."
"that is!"
The other teammates chimed in, "Well done, captain!"
"I was wrong..." Orange raised her hands in surrender.
The entire Zero Team quickly went downstairs.
Yun Zhao had a good sleep and appeared full of energy. When he looked up, he saw a pile of delicious food on the table.
"Cloud Guide! Come and sit down, what would you like to eat?"
The sentries were all incredibly attentive.
People pulled out a chair for her, brought her breakfast, and fetched chopsticks...
That sycophantic manner was simply unbearable to look at.
Yun Zhao looked at them with some doubt, then pursed his lips. "Don't worry, after I take your points, I'll help you with your emotional support."
So there's no need to be so attentive.
Jiang Mu rubbed his forehead, then looked up and asked Xie Tu, "What are the plans for today's operation?"
"Tell me what you got first?" Xie Tu walked over, picked up a bowl of soy milk, lifted the lid, and sat down.
The dining table wasn't big enough to seat twelve people, so the rabbits simply chose their food and brought it to the living room to eat.
Suddenly only five or six people remained at the table.
Jiang Mu replied: "There are only some industrial technical data, and electromagnetic weapon technology and components."
There are many good things here.
Artificial intelligence, energy storage devices, 3D printing technology, and small devices or technical information related to quantum computing.
In the medical and agricultural fields, there are portable precision medical testing instruments, complete hydroponics technologies, and design drawings and key components for highly efficient agricultural automation machinery.
I can't bear to give up either of them.
"But we can only carry very little. In order to save space in the vehicle, we can only take relevant materials out and hand them over to the professionals at the base for research."
Given the technological level of outsiders, it's unknown how long it would take to develop such a system if the information were taken out.
Jiang Mu seemed to be thinking of something, so he muttered a curse under his breath, "The worst part is that those mutants can see us. When we went to get the data, they mistook us for terrorists and chased us all over the city."
This is the most ridiculous thing in the world.
A group of monsters chased after them, shouting things like, "Surrender! You're surrounded! Don't hurt the people!"
Jiang Mu ran while carrying the documents, coughing up blood.
This is utterly upside down!
"Fortunately, after 24 hours, they will return to normal and forget what happened before." Jiang Mu said this with a very unpleasant expression.
If it weren't for those mutants, how could they have obtained so little information?
Jiang Mu had just released the White Xi Beast, and his abilities were deteriorating, so you can imagine how badly he was being chased.
He would never have revealed this if it weren't for the need to share technology.
Yun Zhao listened attentively. She took a bite of a hamburger, her cheeks puffed out, and looked up to meet Xie Tu's gaze.
Their eyes both became somewhat ambiguous.
"We might really have to become terrorists."
Yun Zhao said seriously, "First, we will split into several groups to rob important scientific and technological data, loot supermarkets and shopping malls along the way, and then we will regroup and attack the station in the south to occupy the high-speed rail station."
The sentries were quick to notice, and the people sitting in the living room eating were coughing incessantly because of her words.
"Holy crap! Cloud Guide is amazing!"
"Playing this high?"
"Being a terrorist in a contaminated area? Hahaha... How hilarious! Cough cough cough..."
"Why is my heart pounding so hard? This is way too exciting..."
Jiang Mu realized what was happening, his eyes gleaming. "You're planning to use the high-speed rail to transport things?"
It can indeed carry more things than a vehicle.
He can take all the instruments he wants with him. The four bases have always shared technology, and now it's a joint mission between two bases.
Chasing monsters and looting the city, that's fucking insane!
Xie Tu nodded and slowly said, "Only in this way can we get as many things out as possible."
The prerequisite is that the gatekeeper must be dealt with; otherwise, the high-speed train will not be able to enter the "gate".
"What about the goalkeeper?"
Orange couldn't help but ask, "With the city in chaos, it's easier for the gatekeepers to hide. How are we going to find them?"
With the entire city chasing them, everyone was too busy escaping to have time to look for it.
They've only confirmed so far that the gatekeeper is a 'humanoid' creature; they can't just start shooting at anyone they see.
Those monsters now look like normal people.
Every time I take action, I have the illusion that I am slaughtering my compatriots.
If this is done, the sentries' mental state and spiritual well-being are likely to suffer.
Duan Xi also realized the problem, "But if we go find the gatekeeper first, and then kill the gatekeeper and the contaminated zone collapses, won't all those things disappear?"
The existence of monsters that can see them creates a conflict between scavenging resources and finding the gatekeeper.
Abandoning the supplies is out of the question.
But if they don't go to find the gatekeeper, the supplies can't be sent out, and Zhou Tianqi's spiritual body will be even more difficult to retrieve.
Moreover, once the station is occupied, it's likely that a single trip won't be able to fill the high-speed train.
They still have to make several more trips while being pursued by the entire city.
The operation was riddled with flaws.
Yun Zhao offered no explanation, saying, "Let's ignore the gatekeeper for now and look for it while we're looting the supplies."
Xie Tu had already taken the map from Song Liang and was busy planning the route. "Team Zero will split into two teams: me, Yun Zhao, and Duan Xi in Team One, and Tao Haohao, Song Liang, and Rabbit in Team Two."
"yes!"
Jiang Mu pondered for a moment, and after thinking about something, nodded in agreement to the plan. "Since we'll attack the station after we assemble, let's split into two teams."
Some things shouldn't be planned too meticulously, and certainly shouldn't be explained too clearly.
After all, they had been under 'surveillance' the whole time.
Jiang Mu asked Xie Tu, "Which side do you choose?"
Xie Tu spread out the map, but did not answer immediately.
Until the little bluebird hopped onto the table and started stomping around on the map.
Xie Tucai then spoke: "Leave the east and west of the city to us."
After finishing breakfast, Yun Zhao clapped his hands and stood up first. "Then I'll go and give everyone some mental support first. The two captains can discuss the action plan."
The remaining sentries were completely bewildered.
Tao Haohao was too lazy to think, so he sprawled on the sofa like a lazy bum, "Whatever, I'll just go wherever the captain tells me to go!"
