Chapter 116 Press Conference

No one knows what Gu Li and Principal Ernst talked about in the office.

However, the school issued its statement very quickly this time, and the results of the freshman selection competition appeared on the official website the next day, with the freshmen enrollment date set for three days later.

While the government and military remained silent, the Federal University took the lead in issuing a statement, announcing that it would hold a press conference on the day of freshmen's enrollment, at which time it would reveal everything that everyone wanted to know.

The news spread rapidly on the StarNet, and the phone in the principal's office was ringing off the hook.

Gu Li gently blew away the foam on the surface of her teacup, glanced at the phone ringing wildly on the table, and took a sip of tea: "Aren't you going to answer any of them?"

"Isn't it too hasty for you to make this decision on your own?"

She savored the bitterness that gradually spread in her mouth, her lips involuntarily pursing, and her calves casually draped over the coffee table in front of her, her posture very relaxed.

"Of course, making the alien city public is a good thing for us, and I have no objection to it. But if it gets taken down after you announce it, we might become the target of public criticism."

Ernst, whose desk was buried under files, bulged on his forehead upon hearing this, and his hand holding the pen began to make a creaking sound. His elegant posture was gone after three days of overtime.

Hearing Gu Li's words, he knew what she looked like without even looking at her, and said through gritted teeth, "Although I told you not to be reserved and to treat this place like home, aren't you being a little too relaxed?!"

How exactly did her older brother teach her?!

Gu Li swung her toes, leaned back on the sofa, and stared blankly at the ceiling.

"Ah, you don't need to worry about me. I'm more relaxed when I'm at home. Also, what did you mean by the other day about inhuman kingdoms outside the Federation?"

The voice coming from behind the pile of files was a little muffled: "It means exactly what it says. Haven't you ever wondered where those monsters came from?"

Gu Li listened quietly, casually tearing open a lollipop and popping it into her mouth. It was supposedly a newly developed nutritional supplement, specially designed for children aged five to ten.

The second half of the sentence was automatically ignored.

These are the chestnuts that the mentors have been feeding Gu Li in the principal's office these past few days; they taste much better than any nutritional supplements.

She switched the lollipop to the other side: "Isn't it produced from pollution? As long as I can beat it, I have absolutely no interest in knowing where that thing originated."

"So, Principal, you knew about this?"

Ernst took off his glasses and looked into Kurisu Sakigawa's green eyes with something profound in them, which then gradually faded: "The alien species are formed from pollution, and pollution, which is almost ubiquitous, comes from the countries around us."

"To be precise, it comes from the gods they believe in. Their country operates on the gods' authority, everything is the gods' arrangement, and divine authority is above all else."

Gu Li sat up and muttered, "Sounds pretty normal, a religious country?"

Ernst stacked the documents together, got up and walked to the window, his back to Gu Li, and said, "If only what they believe in really is a god in a broad sense."

With his back to the light, Gu Li could only make out a pair of weathered green eyes that were shining brightly: "We can barely call those things evil gods. Those countries have completely become toys of evil gods, and the people in them can no longer be called human."

Gu Li scratched his head: "If there are countries around, it's impossible that it wouldn't have been discovered, so how could it have been kept secret for so long?"

Ernst Levy glanced at her: "What do you think the Land of Exile is? It's a defensive line created by countless people who are willing to give up their lives to preserve the last embers of their souls."

Gu Li thought for a moment about the people in the safe zone who seemed to have chins higher than others, and let out a long sigh.

"Hmm—that's how it is. You can't tell at all now."

Ernst turned around and glared at her, then looked at her languid posture, almost melting into the sofa, and suddenly felt a little regretful.

Is she really capable of holding a press conference today?

When those nations break through centuries-old barriers and discover a flock of pure white lambs untouched by pollution, the alien city she leads can truly be of help...

No, there's no use thinking about these things now. With things pretty much settled, all they can do now is move forward with time.

His gaze fell on the girl with light golden hair, and a smile appeared on his face, even the wrinkles on his face carried a kind meaning.

He stepped forward, casually picked up Gu Li, and walked outside, saying, "Alright, it's about time for us to make our appearance."

The press conference was held at the training ground of the Federal University. The huge space was large enough to accommodate all the reporters and media, while the rooms on the upper floor of the training ground were already filled with federal nobles.

Most of the corps commanders in the military were graduates of the Federal University. They all sat in the press conference seats with tacit understanding. Their imposing silver-black military uniforms silenced all the dissatisfying media below.

In the very center of the training ground were two cubes shrouded in a huge black curtain. Everyone who entered was curious, but the soldiers standing nearby, holding guns and standing like soldiers, stopped them in their tracks.

At the appointed time, Ernst arrived with Gu Li and sat down in the empty seat in the middle.

With all the important figures present, there was still a noticeably empty seat next to Ernst. The StarNet Media staff whispered in confusion, "Are there too many seats?"

Is anyone else coming?

Those aristocrats who jumped around online, threatening the principal not to act on their own initiative, have now arrived in disgrace.

They're all in the upper-level private rooms now, aren't they?
