Gu Li habitually slumped onto Eric's shoulder, pondering how to protect her little cotton ball in front of Levi when they got back.
His steps suddenly stopped, a shadow fell in front of him, and a voice came from behind him, sounding lost and dejected.
"Gu Li, can we talk?"
Gu Yuanqing forced himself to ignore Gu Li, who was being carried on the shoulders of a tall man and looked down at the ground, pleading in a low voice.
Eric glanced at the young man in front of him, patted Gu Li's head, and put her down: "After you're done, go straight to the top floor."
We'll leave at ten o'clock.
Gu Li nodded, straightened his slightly disheveled clothes, and coughed lightly: "Come with me."
Immersed in anxiety and grief, Gu Yuanqing said impatiently, "I've found the antidote! It will take some time to make, but could I... could you please help me bring my father back from District One!"
Gu Li raised an eyebrow: "How did you know your father was in District One?"
Gu Yuanqing suddenly looked at her, his expression struggling for a moment, then he said in a hoarse voice, "Because Gu Yuqing was rescued by my father at the cost of his life..."
Gu Li crossed his arms, tapped his fingers on his arms, and started thinking rapidly.
Suddenly he asked, "Who poisoned me?"
Gu Yuanqing's expression changed: "I don't know yet."
Gu Li looked past him to the figure behind him and immediately recognized that this must be Gu Yuqing—the most anticipated lone soldier in the safe zone before her appearance.
Gu Yuqing lived up to his reputation as the top individual soldier among the new generation. He was twice the size of Gu Yuanqing, yet he did not appear bulky. Standing there silently, even though he was covered in bandages, his aura was extremely imposing.
Just look at your own eyes...
Gu Li twitched her lips, took a step back without making a sound, and raised her chin towards Gu Yuqing: "Since you don't want to say, I think he should know something?"
Gu Yuanqing suddenly turned around and met the gaze of the man behind her, her eyes widening: "Why did you come out!"
Gu Yuqing was not as arrogant and conceited as rumored. He first glanced at Gu Yuanqing in silence before slowly replying, "You have to come and see how you run the household when Father and I are not around."
He was speaking to Gu Yuanqing. Gu Li, who was standing to the side, raised an eyebrow, feeling that there was something more to his words than met the eye, and that they were directed at her.
Given that this person seemed so different from the rumors, she decided to stay a little longer.
Unexpectedly, the first thing Gu Yuqing said to her was, "You are... Gu Li?"
Gu Li: ?
She paused, realizing that Gu Yuanqing and his family hadn't reacted to her before, and this prodigy shouldn't have seen her at all.
Wasn't she abandoned and raised outside?
Gu Yuqing looked at her expressionlessly: "I didn't expect you to still be alive."
Gu Yuanqing's expression changed drastically, and he stepped forward to stop him, but Gu Yuqing spoke quickly: "Back then, you were corrupted, and Father had no choice but to get rid of you."
“You should know that every child is a family treasure,” he said, his face pale but his eyes still haughty. “I hope you remember that.”
She doesn't remember.
Gu Li also stood with her arms crossed, looking at him with her expression unchanged, but her mood gradually worsened.
Her back tensed, and she rolled her eyes at Gu Yuqing: "If your idea of treating people like they're not human is correct, then I'm even less likely to be wrong."
"Gu Yuanqing, if you have nothing else to say, I'll be leaving now."
Gu Li turned and left. Gu Yuqing looked at her back and suddenly said, "Back then, you offended the people of the Mysterious Church. It was their unique toxins that contaminated you and poisoned you at the same time."
"Only that person has the antidote. Gu Yuanqing is not lying to you. He does have a way to get the antidote. After all, that person was still in the Gu family a few days ago."
"But it's too late now."
Gu Yuanqing stared at his cold, calm profile, speechless with astonishment. His lips trembled as he asked, "What child? What property? What have you and the old man been hiding from me?"
Gu Yuqing was over two meters tall and stood there like a silent mountain. When he heard Gu Yuanqing's question, a contemptuous smile suddenly appeared on his face.
"Thank goodness you've been investigating these things all these days. I was overestimating you because you didn't even find these things."
He leaned slightly against the wall, speaking calmly about how, for decades, the nobles of the safe zone had made deals with mysterious figures in order to make the next generation stronger.
Gu Li remained expressionless: "The mysterious force you're talking about, it wouldn't happen to be some mysterious church with a particularly enigmatic name, would it?"
There was a moment of silence among them. Ignoring Gu Yuanqing's hesitant expression, Gu Li looked up at Gu Yuqing and asked, "Where is that person? What is his name?"
Gu Yuqing lowered his dark eyes to meet her light-colored eyes: "I found his trail in District One."
"Gu He".
Gu Li nodded and walked past the two people upstairs: "I understand. I will help find the head of the Gu family while I'm at it."
Gu Yuqing frowned, watching Gu Li's back. Only after her figure completely disappeared into the elevator did he look at Gu Yuanqing.
"This is the helper you found?"
Gu Yuanqing sighed. He could tell what Gu Yuqing was thinking just by looking at his expression.
"She is the commander of the 11th Army Corps, and she is very strong."
Gu Yuanqing sighed and dragged Gu Yuqing, who seemed much calmer after returning from the Lower Sixth District but was still quite grumpy, back to the ward.
