Chapter 16: Ten coins per person

The next morning, before dawn, Gu Li had already rolled out of bed. Today she was wearing a dark brown dress with a matcha-colored lining and a dark green bow tie.

She hastily tied her bow tie in a somewhat dramatic manner, and wore shorts in the same color scheme as her coat, along with calf socks and leather shoes. Fortunately, Eric had prepared both men's and women's clothing for her, probably taking into account that dresses were not suitable for activities.

She ran downstairs, grabbed a bottle of nutritional supplements, and gulped it down quickly. Hesitating for even a second would be disrespectful to her taste buds.

As soon as she finished preparing everything, there was a knock on the door. Gu Li's eyes lit up; it must be what she wanted!

Gu Li quickly opened the door and looked outside, only to see an empty street. He frowned. What was going on?

Then a deliberately lowered voice came from below: "Ahem, Miss Gu Li, I was introduced by Cecil. By the way, thank you for your help yesterday."

Gu Li's gaze slowly descended, revealing a brown, oval-shaped creature with four small claws protruding from its base.

His head, as round as his body, wore a calm and composed expression. His black bean-like eyes held a clarity and foolishness rarely seen among alien species. Seeing that Gu Li didn't speak, he slowly put his paw into his mouth and pulled out a pure white plastic megaphone.

“This is what Cecil asked me to bring you,” he said, then casually stretched his hind legs. “His Highness Cecil also asked me to tell you that there are no vehicles in the city, so you can ride me.”

Gu Li paused for a moment, looking at the indifferent expression on Angel's face in every sense of the word. He wiped his face and quickly put himself into a certain role, a reserved smile appearing on his face.

"In that case, thank you for your trouble."

Anyway, she couldn't possibly walk across half the city in an hour on her own two legs.

When Angel heard her request, he bent down slightly to let Gu Li sit on his flat and spacious back. Without asking why she had suddenly taken this job, he dutifully carried her along the route.

Gu Li sat on his back, closed her eyes to enjoy the first rays of morning light, took a deep breath, and began to play with the plastic megaphone in her hand with great interest.

This thing is obviously from the same source as Eric's cherished red and white megaphone. I don't know where Cecil got such a new one for her. I touched it with my finger.

A crisp "Power on!" sound rang out on the usually empty and desolate street.

Angel paused in his leisurely pace, thinking slowly, "That voice is so familiar it sends chills down my spine."

Gu Li cleared her throat and opened her mouth in recording mode.

"Take a look! The Light Child Repair Shop is now open! We specialize in repairing winged, ocean, abyssal, and goat species. Whether you're sick or not, come and take a look! It's only ten coins! You won't regret it!"

This statement could be as cheerful as it gets. Gu Li thoughtfully placed the loudspeaker that was playing the repeating message on Angel's tail, and sat cross-legged on Angel's cotton-padded back, listening to the constantly repeating sound, waiting leisurely for business to begin.

If she were to say that she wanted fame and emotional connection, then of course she could make use of the many idle, bored aliens in the city who would come to her window every day to watch her sleep, who were so bored they were practically bursting with boredom.

She noticed the unusual activity outside the house on the first day, but wasn't sure. Last night, her abilities improved a bit, and she was able to sense the dozens of new presences that had suddenly appeared around her.

If she hadn't been thinking about today's business, she almost would have gotten up and started charging them admission!

This was clearly a mutually beneficial deal; she got energy and money, and their bodies gained one percent of their health.

After all, a transaction of ten coins at once shouldn't be too extravagant; she wants to take this opportunity to meet more people.

But even though they sat on Angel and walked half a street, not a single person came out to look out of curiosity. Gu Li patted Kapi, or rather, Angel's serene head with some confusion.

"Do you think I've misjudged them, and that the people living on my street are actually all introverted, sensitive oddities?"

Otherwise, how can it be explained that no one has been willing to come out yet? Even a different species would be willing to ask about the price!

Angel felt his buttocks had never made such a loud noise before, and he could even feel new gazes fixed on his backside with each passing house, and beads of sweat appeared on his brown skin.

It made his long face look like it was covered in a layer of water. He was glad in his heart that he wasn't a real animal and that his surface was just skin, otherwise taking a bath tonight would be a real hassle.

The voice slowly said, "I think I understand what you mean, but it's been a long time since anyone has seen anyone, especially a young and promising Son of Light like you."

These people are like savages from deep in the mountains and forests.

Several pairs of eyes, busy observing the mysterious actions of the "Son of Tourism," suddenly fell on Angel, filled with blatant condemnation: "You managed to get this job without making a sound, and now you're even trying to put others down!"

Gu Li thought it made sense; these alien species might indeed not understand her work. She clapped her hands and sat up straight.

That's easy!

Suddenly, a small cluster of starlight appeared in her palm. As it passed through the windows, one or two points of light scattered and flew towards the dark windows, wobbling and not very accurate.

It was dangling precariously in front of the window, about to fall, and a faint, regretful sigh seemed to drift from all around.

A smile appeared at the corner of Gu Li's eyes: "Just ten coins can get you ten light points. Limited quantity, first come, first served."

Some impatient aliens quietly opened the window, reaching out their tentacles to grasp the falling specks of light. The brief clarity and relaxation brought by the light entering their bodies was like a spring of sweet water.

Some people, still dazed, lingered on the windowsill, savoring the experience. Others, having endured the mesmerizing hawking cries, eagerly climbed out of the window. Their soft forelimbs blocked the way for Bone Valley Chestnut, while their hind limbs had just emerged from the window.

Gu Li looked at the first Abyss-type client, whose entire body was pitch black and surrounded by an ominous mist. His slender limbs exuded an obvious evil and twisted aura as they moved.

From roughly the direction of his head, his sinister eyes stared at the slender girl before him like they were looking at prey, his voice hoarse: "How much can you offer? I'll take it all."

Amidst the constant blaring of the horn, Gu Li leisurely extended one finger, his face full of sincerity: "I am Gu Li, a new resident in the city. I do this business for no other reason than to benefit everyone."

As a businessman, it's fine to say nice things. Gu Li gave him ten points of light: "One purchase per person per day."
