Gu Li gently rotated his wrist, and the well-maintained longsword drew an arc in the air before suddenly shooting out and embedding itself in the window frame.
She stopped speaking, her blue eyes flashing sharply as she looked over: "Who's there!"
There was no sound outside the window except for the flapping of birds' wings. Gu Li quietly rolled off the bed, and the silk thread in Lucy's hand slipped out through the crack in the window.
Gu Li stood sideways by the window, slowly reaching out to grasp the hilt of his sword. The sharp blade gleamed captivatingly in the moonlight.
She raised her hand.
There was finally some movement outside the window. The person seemed to realize something was wrong and wanted to leave, but found that he had been wrapped in extremely fine silk threads.
It's not that they can't break free, but it will definitely alert other people.
The man sighed in frustration, grabbed at his forehead with one hand, and tightened his grip on the windowsill with his strong arms. He then jumped onto the windowsill.
A natural smile appeared on his face as he looked at Gu Li. His eyes, with their long eyelashes, seemed particularly aloof when he wasn't smiling, but when he did, they held a deep affection for everyone he looked at.
He was about to speak when Lucy stepped forward warily to block his view.
She still vividly remembered the way this man talked trash during the fight, and now she was guarding against him getting close to Gu Li as if he were a pervert.
Lucy twitched her fingers slightly, and countless transparent threads suddenly appeared, piercing towards Henry.
Henry's smile remained unchanged. He spun around, used the windowsill as leverage, and leaped into the air. The veins on the back of his hand bulged menacingly, and his hand bones deformed and elongated in an instant, turning into a murder weapon.
The claws coiled around the relentless threads in the air, grasped them in the palm of the hand, and with a sudden burst of strength, pulled Lucy, who was manipulating the threads, towards him.
He patted Lucy on the shoulder in a friendly manner with his other hand: "Don't be so impulsive. I'm here to help you. Maybe we can sit down and have a good talk."
Lucy shook off his hand, controlling the countless threads to face Henry again: "On what grounds are you talking to us?"
Henry's smile vanished upon hearing this, his expression turning icy cold. He looked at Gu Li and said, "Hey, maybe you should try to believe me. I'm speaking to you in my personal capacity."
"The Red Bee has been able to exist in Grantham for so long without being wiped out. It's not just a simple religious organization behind it. Without me, you wouldn't be able to get into the Red Bee!"
Gu Li finally stepped forward and took Lucy's hand. She looked at Henry thoughtfully and said, "Since you have someone backing you up, you don't need to rashly go against them... Is this the first time you've heard about this tavern?"
The room was silent for two seconds.
Henry exhaled slightly, straightened his collar, leaned against the table, and gestured to the chair in front of him.
“Not every family in Grantham is aligned with the royal family. I cannot disclose more details, but our goal is definitely not to baptize everyone into a new race.”
Henry's eyes were filled with intense disgust: "This violates the original rules."
Gu Li leaned back in her chair, took the hot water Lucy handed her, and took a sip: "Rules?"
Henry's expression was one of self-righteous superiority: "The rule is voluntary."
"All those who are baptized must be completely willing in order to pass the test, which is why I said you can't get in."
He didn't ask the stupid question of why at least one of them was still sober after drinking that stuff.
He stated his conditions straightforwardly: "I can help you pass the test, on the condition that you take me with you."
Henry looked at Gu Li with certainty, seemingly very sure that Gu Li would agree.
"You can take them with you, but I need you to help take a few people out first."
Henry squinted, his long eyelashes casting shadows on his face, softening his otherwise sharp features.
He scrutinized Gu Li for a while, his gaze involuntarily falling on her light blue eyes, momentarily lost in thought.
The room fell silent. Henry's natural physique made him appear even more dominant, and the way the two sat facing each other allowed his shadow to completely cover Gu Li.
But Gu Li's face remained unusually calm, and even his eyes gradually showed impatience, showing no sign of the wavering that Henry had imagined.
He suddenly laughed, breaking the calm and stern expression on his face.
"From the first time we met, you have always exceeded my expectations, more impressive than I thought, and even more... fascinating."
Lucy's expression instantly fell. She raised her hand slightly and looked at the man threateningly, beginning to regret letting him in.
He definitely didn't have a good plan from the start!
Henry remained unmoved by the countless threads piercing his face, focusing only on Gu Li, and said with a light laugh, "I agree, and I hope you will cooperate with my actions."
Gu Li straightened up and extended her hand to him: "Deal."
Under Lucy's increasingly sharp gaze, Henry bent down slightly, took her hand, and kissed the pale back of her hand.
"See you tomorrow."
Today marks the fourth day since the 11th Army lost track of its commander. The rescue operation in the lower six districts has ended, but the situation in the safe zone remains chaotic.
Since losing their regimental commander, the 11th Army has been roaming the city in shadows. They don't cause trouble or make a sound, but they are very persistent in searching for the man again and again.
Ordinary people may not even notice it.
But for some people who knew the inside story and for nobles who valued privacy above all else—"This is a slap in the face to us!"
A middle-aged man slammed his fist on the table and stood up, extremely agitated: "That's our territory! What do they mean by wandering around outside all day? Do they suspect we're Tibetans?!"
