Gu Li and Lucy led a large group of people through the alleys Will had led them through, with thin threads left in the corners of the walls guiding their way.
The two finally dropped everyone off at the exit, and hurried footsteps came from behind them.
Gu Li handed the rest of the sixth team to the panting Henry, looked him up and down, and said, "You guys are fast."
She thought the two of them could only come out after she left.
Henry retrieved his old-fashioned phone, which he had been editing, and shot Cedric a glare: "Enough talk, I'm taking him with me. Be careful what you do."
Gu Li noticed the small wooden box being held under the black robe and raised an eyebrow: "You found what you were looking for in such a short time?"
Henry seemed to have no intention of hiding anything, and casually opened the wooden box, revealing its contents.
"I didn't expect it to go so smoothly either. They didn't use this thing to summon the Mother Goddess."
The alleyway fell silent.
Gu Li glanced at the strange, writhing chunk of meat inside the box and snapped the lid shut.
She thought of the head that gradually transformed from metal into flesh and blood, and her face darkened.
Henry's words revealed her guess: "The Red Bee probably used an ancient sacrificial array, using the souls of countless people as sacrifices, to actively lock onto the Mother Goddess and bring a part of her over."
Instead of making it easier for flesh and blood to attract the Mother Goddess's attention.
Gu Li pondered for a moment: "Red Bee has big ambitions."
Lucy asked in disbelief, "Aren't they afraid they won't be able to control this thing?!"
This is tantamount to asking a tiger for its skin.
Henry's expression was somewhat grave. He looked at Gu Li and said, "You guessed it, didn't you?"
Gu Li: "They are clever. They know how to share the risk, so they summoned that thing in several parts and then merged them into one at the right time."
At that time, the whole world might be plunged into eternal night.
Gu Li sensed something was amiss, sighed, and tugged at a thread in her hand: "Let's put that aside for now, what are you planning to do about this?"
Henry and Cedric followed her hand.
It was a strange creature whose mouth was bound by countless silver threads, and Mrs. Joel, pale-faced and with her eyes tightly closed, was trapped alone.
Henry rubbed his fingers together. "It's beyond saving at this point. This woman is prepared to die with her daughter."
He stepped forward, a faint killing intent emanating from him.
Startled by his presence, the alien species regained consciousness and repeatedly called out "Mommy" in a hoarse voice.
Gu Li stared at it for a while, then shifted her gaze to the unconscious woman who was still crying. She had indeed sensed something was wrong before entering the Red Bee Base.
I never expected this child to develop so quickly.
She moved with lightning speed, blocking Henry's movement: "Leave these two to me."
Gu Li thought of Wang Yu and Wang Tian, who were temporarily assigned to the 11th Army. Both of them had been corrupted, and their strong emotions supported their rationality.
Perhaps this child is too young to control himself.
Ultimately, they are all the same kind of outcasts. Now that we've encountered them, we can't just ignore them.
Henry raised an eyebrow as a spaceship silently pulled up at the alley entrance. Well-trained soldiers filed out of it, carrying people from the ground into the ship's cabin.
“He is already a different species, unlike you.”
Lucy had already bound the alien creature tightly and carried it on her shoulder, while Gu Li lifted Mrs. Joel horizontally in his arms and nodded slightly to Henry and Cedric.
"Perhaps it is somewhat different, but as long as he has not completely degenerated, he still has the right to live."
Gu Li easily embraced the woman, who was a head taller than him, with her slender body, and left without looking back.
Goodbye, we might be enemies next time we meet.
Henry's cold expression softened slightly under the soldiers' surprised gazes: "You'd better stay alive until then. I'll kill you myself."
Lucy paused in her steps, glancing at him with a cold look in her eyes.
Gu Li chuckled softly, "I'll be waiting."
Perhaps they are already friends, but before that, they were rivals who respected each other. If they met on the battlefield, she would not show any mercy.
Henry, under Cedric's bewildered gaze, turned and left with his entourage, as he still had to take them to the palace to report back.
Cedric followed with a complicated expression, tentatively asking, "Who exactly is she?"
Henry leaned back in his seat, crossed his long legs, poured himself a glass of red wine, and glanced at him upon hearing this: "Didn't you already guess?"
Cedric was speechless.
Gu Li and Lucy led Mrs. Joel to a secluded alley, and Lisa, who looked anxious, immediately brightened up when she saw them.
She rushed over, letting out a huge sigh of relief: "I'm so glad you're all alright!"
Lisa's gaze swept over Gu Li and the people in Lucy's hands, her expression suddenly froze, she gasped and quickly took a step forward.
"Mrs. Joel! She's still alive!"
When Lisa's surprise shifted to the tightly bound alien creature, it quickly faded, and her expression became somewhat forced.
"Speaking of which, how did you meet Mrs. Jordan? We've been looking for her for a long time. Isn't little Georgia with her?"
Gu Li pushed the strange creature in front of him: "If you're talking about this lady's children, then this is it. This is exactly what I wanted to discuss with you. May I bring them in with me?"
Lisa stared at the deformed monster with its mouth wide open, as if she had seen something extremely terrifying. Before she could even speak, tears streamed down her face.
At this moment, the alien creature regained consciousness and wriggled its body, trying to approach the unconscious Mrs. Joel.
"Mommy... Mom... I'm hungry... Mommy..."
Lisa took a step back and bumped into someone's chest. Through her teary eyes, she met Jack's serious gaze.
Jack stared intently at the monster that could only instinctively call for its mother, clenching his teeth as he looked at Gu Li.
"Miss Gu Li, were you behind the commotion at Red Bee's place today?"
Although he asked a question, his tone was very certain.
Gu Li didn't hide anything: "It's not just me, there are friends too."
"Mrs. Joel went in with us. The Red Bee recruited a group of followers and made them sacrifice to that thing."
Jack's gaze fell on Mrs. Joel's pale, beautiful face again, and he finally sighed, "Come with me."
This time, Gu Li still wore an eye mask, but the journey was even more silent and long. Along the way, Lisa looked at Mrs. Joel many times, her expression full of worry.
As the blindfold was removed, Barry's astonished voice greeted them: "Yol?!"
Gu Li's hands were suddenly empty as Mrs. Joel was helped away. Jack coughed lightly to block their view and gestured for them to proceed.
"This is the center of our base. Please come in, Chief."
Gu Li's gaze fell on the unremarkable little building. Unlike what she had imagined, this central building and the street were just like any other building, without any memorable features.
But a small white eagle statue stands on the roof.
