Gu Li had just reassured the two that everything would be alright.
To their surprise, as soon as they opened the hatch, they were met with the dark muzzle of a gun, and before they could even speak, a bullet was fired at them.
Both Saide and Alfoseni's expressions changed simultaneously.
Is this some kind of attack against them?!
Gu Li knew what they were thinking without even looking. He stepped forward, patted their stiff backs, and drew his sword to block the bullets.
She stepped forward first and stopped in front of Wang Li: "Captain Wang, it's been a long time."
"Such a grand welcome, is it just for me?"
Wang Li breathed a sigh of relief, then looked down at Gu Li with a complicated expression. It had indeed been a long time since they last met. Gu Li had been forced to complete a cleanup mission and was being sent back to the safe zone as a reward.
And because of Gu Li's rise to power, he was almost secretly killed.
He was saved by a phone call just before the accident happened.
He bowed to Gu Li and said, "I'm sorry, it's my fault for not disciplining him properly."
During the inspection, Wang Li's gaze swept over Saide and Alfoseni, and finally, seeing the hesitant look on his subordinate's face, he let them pass.
Only after Gu Li led the two away did she hear a "thank you" from afar.
She smiled and waved to the back of her head: "You're welcome, Captain Wang. You're a good captain. You should shine in the right place until you retire. Goodbye."
As if seeing Gu Li for the first time, Said circled around her with great curiosity.
"You actually have connections in District One?!"
He gave an odd bow: "Excuse me, sir!"
Since waking up, Alfoseni has found it hard to stand the nonchalant Seid, and he gave him a cold, sidelong glance.
It's not strange that District One is close to the City of Aliens and has some connection with Guli.
After the three entered Zone 1, they planned to go directly back to the 11th Army base to report the news and situation of Saide and the other two's safe return before letting them go out alone.
Saed kept chattering away the whole way, while Al wore a ridiculous top hat and had a very serious expression the entire time.
Gu Li suddenly remembered He Shiyi's words; they would indeed be meeting soon.
As she thought of the communication that night, her toes involuntarily curled up, forming a city of aliens.
She didn't know why she suddenly couldn't hold back and showed that vulnerable side in front of He Shiyi, which was a little embarrassing.
Said waved enthusiastically and said something to the two of them.
Suddenly, his back bumped into something, a touch colder and harder than he had imagined, causing him to stumble a few steps.
He quickly turned around: "Excuse me, are you alright?"
What came into view was a pale face devoid of any color. The person's dark eyes were looking behind him, and only moved slightly and slowly looked over when he heard the words.
His voice was calm, even gentle: "I'm fine."
Saide froze on the spot. The moment he met those dark eyes, he felt as if he saw a colossal figure in the vast universe that could evoke the deepest fears in people.
The immense pressure almost overwhelmed him, like a mountain pressing down heavily, and Said suddenly found it hard to breathe.
Cold sweat soaked his back.
Then someone patted him on the shoulder, seemingly startled by his condition, and said urgently, "Said? Saide, can you hear me? Damn it, open your mouth and breathe!"
Upon hearing his words, Said suddenly opened his mouth, like a fish just pulled from the water, bending over and panting heavily.
His ears on the top of his head had somehow been pushed back tightly, pressed against his head.
In a daze, Said heard Al's voice: "Stop looking, stand up, he's gone."
It took Said a while to calm down, but Gu Li was nowhere to be seen: "Where did Gu Li go?"
Alfoseny glanced in another direction and said calmly, "That man is the acting commander of the 11th Army during this period. Gu Li went to hand over the reins to him."
"You rest for a while. We'll go directly to the 11th Army's First District base to register your information."
His gaze, however, was fixed on the direction the two had left. Even though he wasn't as close as Said, he could still feel the terrifying pressure emanating from that man.
Gu Li and that man looked familiar with each other. Is this the strength of the Eleventh Army?
Said jumped up thoughtfully, his eyes widening as he looked at Alfoseny: "I know who he is! I saw his picture at school!"
"That's He Shiyi! The former leader of the Federation Star, the Eleventh Army!"
The former leader of the 11th Army of the Federation Stars was driving with his sleeves rolled up. The Skyrail on the high-rise building in District 1 was not yet fully repaired and was temporarily using an old-fashioned four-wheel drive vehicle.
The veins on He Shiyi's hands, which were gripping the steering wheel, bulged prominently, running from the back of his hand down his forearm and disappearing into the cuff of his shirt.
Gu Li sat next to him, and with a slight tilt of his head, one could see his sharply defined profile and a small black mole under the corner of his lips.
For some reason, she felt a little awkward. The atmosphere in the car wasn't as somber as Saide and the other person had imagined, but it wasn't much better either.
He Shiyi skillfully drove this outdated vehicle and smoothly brought it to a stop in front of a building bearing the insignia of the 11th Army.
Gu Li secretly breathed a sigh of relief, placed her fingers on the car door, and was just about to get out of the car.
He Shiyi handed over something, saying, "Everyone was very worried about you this time. Eric feels very guilty. Remember to cooperate later."
Gu Li nodded somewhat guiltily. It was her decision to rescue the person on her own, but an accident happened, and she caused everyone to worry.
The large hand that reached out slowly opened, revealing the hairband left behind before the teleportation, now resting quietly in its palm, except for a ring inlaid with a black gemstone.
"Make sure you keep it safe next time, so I can find you no matter where you go."
He seemed to notice Gu Li staring at the ring, and then explained, "The headband might not be very secure, so this is double insurance."
Gu Li breathed a slight sigh of relief and reached out to take it.
Her sky-blue eyes met his dark eyes with a smile: "Thank you, I will take good care of it."
He Shiyi looked at her and his gaze fell on the small ring on her hand. He blinked slowly and then suddenly closed his fingers to block Gu Li's hand.
"Turn around."
Gu Li turned around, her back to him, not understanding what was going on.
Her long hair, casually tied back with a ribbon, was slightly tugged, and a pair of cool hands were moving behind her.
As her hair was being awkwardly manipulated, a ticklish sensation crept up her scalp and into her heart, causing her to sit up uncomfortably.
She suddenly had an idea: she must get a scalp massage when she has some free time.
He Shiyi's voice came from behind: "All done."
Gu Li straightened up and watched as He Shiyi slowly approached with the ring in his three fingers. Her eyes widened involuntarily.
She was practically sweating; the atmosphere was just too weird!
Gu Li, who was as quiet as a chicken in the car, was actually in a state of turmoil. Suddenly, the hand holding the ring flipped over and deftly placed the ring into Gu Li's palm.
