Chapter 187 Questioning

The moon, which had been hidden behind the clouds, finally deigned to let down a sliver of moonlight, illuminating the open space and the face of the person who had just arrived.

Several restrained gasps were heard.

Anneville stared intently in that direction, her whole body tense. To her surprise, the girl who stepped out of the shadows was petite, and Anneville swore that her face looked no more than twelve years old!

But the numbness from the shock still lingered in her hands.

With such power, this girl is definitely not an ordinary person.

Just as she was about to speak, a dark figure blocked her way, the metal armor making a slight sound as it moved.

The father's voice rang out again, his deep voice issuing a warning: "Leave here, and don't come any closer."

Anneville looked at the tall figure in front of her and burst into tears again. She then looked at Gu Li with the same wariness.

Gu Li, who was being watched warily by a group of people: ...

How come you guys suddenly became such good friends? It makes me look really clueless, okay?

She stepped forward helplessly, spread her hands to indicate that she meant no harm, and looked at the man: "I just want to know some information, and I have no intention of offending you."

Although her initial plan was to save the woman and then deal with the man who had done wrong.

Obviously, things have changed slightly now.

Hagrid gripped his sword at his waist again: "I don't think we have what you're looking for here. Please leave."

He threateningly drew his sword slightly from his waist.

Gu Li sighed and suddenly disappeared from the spot amidst several pairs of eyes.

"What?!"

The group's eyes widened.

Before anyone could react, Gu Li had already appeared in front of Hagrid, her slender fingers gripping the longsword at his waist, and then slowly, with an irresistible force, she pulled it out.

Hagrid's hand was forced to loosen, and he immediately shielded Anneville as they retreated. However, the expected pain did not occur, and the longsword twirled lightly in Gu Li's hand.

Then throw it in a certain direction.

"Haven't you seen enough yet?"

Hagrid's eyes bulged beneath his helmet as he shielded the others behind him, feeling somewhat relieved that he had deliberately chosen this location.

This place is some distance from the residential area, so making any noise won't immediately alert the patrolling guards.

A helpless voice came from a nearby alley, its tone rising in an eerie way: "Hey, miss, we meet again so soon."

The sound of leather shoes on the road grew louder as they approached, and a man wearing a black suit with a light-colored trench coat appeared before them.

He had a pair of wild beast-like pupils, which narrowed slightly when he looked at Gu Li, forming vertical pupils that resembled those of a wild beast.

"I never expected it to really be you."

Henry gave Gu Li a graceful gentlemanly bow and tried to hold her hand, but Gu Li ruthlessly dodged it.

Gu Li looked at him expressionlessly: "What are you doing here?"

Henry stared at the drastically changed Gu Li, his eyes gleaming with intense interest: "If you tell me how you became like this, I'll consider telling you my plan."

He looked at Gu Li expectantly.

Gu Li rolled her eyes, turned away to avoid his gaze, and looked at Anneville and the others: "As you can see, I'm from outside. I want to know what exactly happened to Bellamy?"

Anneville, the leader of the organization, had calmed down and looked at Gu Li: "How can we trust you?"

Gu Li had stored everything on her body in the pendant. After a moment of contemplation, she suddenly threw Henry, who was standing next to her, forward: "Prove it to her."

Henry steadied himself and glanced at her with his narrow, beastly eyes: "Since it's Miss's request..."

He walked up to them, turned his back to Gu Li, and took something out of his pocket to show them: "Now do you believe me?"

Hagrid reacted strongly, pulling Anneville back and glaring angrily at Henry, shouting, "You Grantham lackey! How dare you be so arrogant!"

Gu Li stood at a distance and sighed, "No wonder they're father and daughter, they even curse each other."

Anneville, her face pale, agreed to Gu Li's request.

"Father."

"Say yes to them. Can Bellamy really be saved by us now?"

Hagrid paused, his gaze passing over Henry to look at Gu Li: "I can't trust you, but I can answer some of the things I can."

Anneville took the group back to her family's tavern, which had been closed since Hagrid disappeared, and the tables and chairs inside were covered in a layer of dust.

Anneville looked somewhat sad as she led them upstairs.

Anneville: "My companion is injured, I have to go see him. Father, you two talk."

Gu Li looked at Hagrid, a knowing glint in his eyes as his gaze swept over the airtight armor covering Hagrid's body.

"First question, will everyone who drinks the potion turn into someone like you?"

The body has separated from the human, but the mind remains clear. It sounds a bit like the alien city, but there are fundamental differences.

Everyone in the alien city relied on their willpower to endure immense pain and retain their sanity in their ugly, twisted bodies.

This was a choice they made voluntarily, and they maintained it for decades through superhuman willpower.

In this city, most of those who have turned into monsters will lose their minds, and the few who are lucky enough to retain their sanity will be forever immersed in the pain of having no sense of belonging.

If they can survive the mysterious church's next arrangements.

Hagrid's body trembled slightly. For the first time, his keen senses failed him to notice the noise outside the door behind him. After a moment of silence, he painfully admitted it.

"Everyone will turn into... a monster that is neither human nor ghost... everyone."

Gu Li nodded without surprise: "You are forced to work for them, and at night you select human sacrifices to offer in the city? Where do you usually stay? Where do those people come from?"

Hagrid stared at Gu Li in horror: "How did you know?!"

This was the most unbearable thing for them. After becoming monsters, they were forced to do even darker things, which caused him great pain.

Gu Li simply crossed her arms and waited for his answer with a blank expression.

The sky-blue eyes, backlit, had a cold luster.

Hagrid finally lowered his head and whispered, "It's not a ritual, it's a warning from them. Some people... are not very obedient."

"Blood can accelerate the mutation. We usually stay in the Presidential Palace, but I should go back now, otherwise it will attract their attention and cause them trouble."

When Gu Li heard the Presidential Palace, the corners of his lips finally turned up slightly.

He moved his lips, much to Hagrid's astonishment.
