The lingering abyssal aura in Gu Li's eyes stunned Eric, causing the goat's hoof holding the pipe to momentarily limp, almost dripping down with the pipe. He skillfully caught the hoof with one hand and quickly looked away.
She then looked at Levi, who was trying to approach her, and whispered a warning: "Levi, don't go over there yet."
Levi's waving tentacles froze.
It's too late.
After Gu Li's eyes regained their clarity, the first thing she saw was a giant octopus on the bedside table that was about to melt. Its once arrogant tentacles had now slumped to the ground, looking like some kind of slow-rebound toy.
She blinked, hesitated, and reached out to poke it. The soft, mushy texture was even more so than she had imagined. Gu Li wondered if she would take something extra with her when she removed her hand.
She subconsciously sent a ray of starlight through her fingertips.
moment.
The three sat on the sofa in the living room. Gu Li had already recalled what happened before he lost consciousness. He frowned and looked at Eric, who was moving his right hoof, with some anxiety: "Eric, Angel and I encountered intruders at the port today! How is Angel? Is he alright?"
Gu Li was still wearing the same clothes she had on that morning. She didn't know how Eric and the others had managed to dry them. Her long, light golden hair was disheveled and hanging down her back, but she didn't care about that now. She was recalling that after falling into the sea, Angell seemed to have jumped in as well...
"Could it be that Angell saved me?"
Levi immediately puffed out his chest and said loudly, "Of course I saved you! Only a sea tyrant like me could save you so quickly and effectively. That guy Angell ran away as soon as he heard you were alright, haha, that weakling, I bet he's too scared to face you..."
"Levy."
Eric seemed preoccupied today, smoking his pipe without saying a word until now, when he finally spoke up to stop them: "He has done all he could; we were too careless."
Eric looked at Gu Li, whose face was even paler, and said seriously, "As the first line of defense behind the wall, the Alien City is occasionally used by some of the more intelligent members of our clan to organize and attack us, trying to enter the Federation through here. Those three human-faced dogs were just the vanguard."
"They should arrive in less than two days. I think we won't need to feed those guys in the underground market during this time. How about you stay in the city to recuperate?"
He tapped his delicate pipe on the table, and after a rustling sound outside the window, a plaster-colored face appeared before Gu Li, looking somewhat embarrassed: "Hi, Miss, you can pass on any orders you have to Lord Eric through me."
“I am your loyal messenger, Plaster.”
Gu Li paused in her rebuttal. If she remembered correctly, there seemed to be one of these things on the eaves of every house on this street, or rather, these eerie plaster statues were everywhere in the city.
She stood up with some curiosity, walked towards the plaster, and reached out to pinch his wings covered in moss; they were hard.
"All the plaster statues in the city are props made of plaster separated from the body. Don't worry, he won't pry into your privacy without your permission."
Eric stood up and walked behind her, his voice weary: "Please don't rush to refuse. Those things will come to harass us every now and then. We've already made preparations, but I'm afraid we won't be able to protect your safety then."
"Furthermore, a portion of the king's power is hidden in that sea. I think your body may undergo some changes recently, and you need to rest in a safe place during this period."
change?
Gu Li was stunned. She looked at her fair and slender hands. The marks on her skin that had been chapped by something being poured into her body in the seawater seemed like an illusion, but now it seemed to be real.
Gu Li pursed her lips and nodded. Not wanting to cause them any trouble, she swallowed her doubts and could only agree.
Eric and Levi left quickly, and the city seemed to have lost its former tranquility tonight. Hurried footsteps could be heard passing by the window from time to time. Gu Li had slept too much during the day, so he couldn't sleep at night. He leaned against the chair by the window and quietly watched the dark shadows passing by outside.
This is the fifth day since Gu Li arrived in the city of alien species, and she has realized her weakness more than once. With the dual identity of being a child of light among the alien species, she can't help them no matter which side she's on.
Gu Li spread her wings under the dim moonlight, trying to sense the alien power within her body. After a moment, unsurprisingly, she sank without a trace. Only the black wings she held in her hands, pulled forward in front of her eyes, proved that she had indeed been corrupted.
Suddenly.
From a great distance came the indistinct sound of a loudspeaker. Her expression hardened, she pushed open the window and leaped to the rooftop. She looked out at the unusual scene at the beach where she had been in danger that afternoon. The shadows there were particularly heavy, and a familiar figure in a formal dress stood on the foremost pier.
Something seemed to be rapidly approaching on the distant horizon.
After just a couple more glances, the scene on the sea became even clearer before his eyes, and countless monsters with tattered wings were reflected in Gu Li's dark and murky pupils.
Between those tattered, alien wings was an unusually large skeleton and head, with only a thin tail attached to it, covered in black flesh and blood, and fist-sized eyeballs crammed between its pale ribs.
As the first monster approached the shore, those monstrous creatures, whose appearance was so terrifying that they were beyond human comprehension, suddenly wailed and turned into a mass of rotting flesh, falling into the dark sea.
Gu Li guessed it was Eric's ability. She saw the red and white plastic megaphone in Eric's hand, while more winged monsters in mid-air passed through the vanguard's flesh and blood and rushed to the ground without hesitation. They did not linger in the fight and rushed desperately towards the city.
