Chapter 191 Showing Off Heroism

Bellamy's second half of the night was peaceful and gentle.

The moon emerged completely from behind the clouds, its bright and soft light enveloping the city. Gu Li stood on the roof of a small house, looking up at the moon.

"Was the moon that big when it was seen in Grantham?"

She stood on the rooftop, the moon almost touching Bellamy's head. As if possessed, she reached out and touched the moon, but ultimately grasped nothing.

In the blink of an eye, the moon seemed to have moved further away.

Gu Li withdrew her hand, tapped her head, and looked down at the street. She walked out of the secret passage in the room and found herself in the east of the city, which was in the opposite direction from the Presidential Palace.

The east side of the city was noticeably less populated than the north side. Meanwhile, shadowy figures, drooling, lurked in the darkness as they squeezed through the cracks in windows and doors into occupied rooms.

Without hesitation, Gu Li jumped out of the window of the nearest house, followed the stench, and opened the bedroom door. The knife in her hand was already poised to strike.

But when she opened the door, she only saw the couple sleeping peacefully in bed.

The dark figure was nowhere to be found.

Gu Li examined the area with a tense expression, but found nothing unusual. However, a strange intuition made her slash at the necks of the two people, and a small cut was easily made as easily as tofu.

It reveals its constantly writhing interior.

The tiny crack began to heal itself, wriggling in Gu Li's shocked gaze.

Gu Li: "Holy crap, what's going on?!"

She climbed out of the house and checked several other households, finding that without exception, the people there might be normal during the day, but at night they would turn into these terrifying monsters.

Gu Li couldn't find Sophia. After leaving the east side of the city, she went straight to the tavern. Anneville cautiously opened the door and only let her in after seeing that it was Gu Li.

Anne Hathaway: "Didn't you already go into the presidential palace with Father? Didn't you succeed?"

Gu Li's gaze fell on Henry, who was slowly walking out: "Do you know that there are no survivors left in the east of the city?"

Henry showed no surprise whatsoever. He walked to the bar and poured himself a drink as if they were old friends: "You found out so quickly, a little earlier than I thought."

Anneville stood up in shock, accidentally knocking over the candlestick beside her: "What did you say?!"

"There... there are fewer people over there, but we went there during the day and greeted Jay and the others!"

Gu Li's gaze fell on her, reassuringly saying, "This is just my guess. There might still be a chance to salvage the situation. Calm down first."

Henry tugged at his collar, downed the vodka in his glass in one gulp, and caught his breath: "At a time like this, you're still trying to fool a child. Can't you be a little more realistic?"

"This city is destined to descend into chaos, so it's better to prepare early."

Gu Li silently turned to stare at him, her sky-blue eyes carrying a faint threat.

Henry put down his cup and said resignedly, "I know this little girl may be pitiful, even her only father has become a lackey of that group."

"Ugh—"

Gu Li elbowed him in the stomach, and Henry stopped talking. He squatted down, clutching his waist in pain. After a long while, he said in a low voice, "To be honest, after I came in here, I became a normal person like a ghost."

"How do you still have so much strength?"

Gu Li flashed him a gleaming white smile: "Perhaps my physical strength is simply greater than yours?"

As Anne-Ville watched them clown around in front of her, her complicated and sad feelings quickly subsided, and her gaze fell on Gu Li's petite face with a complex expression.

Even though she was just a little child, she felt inexplicably at ease.

She couldn't help but ask, "Is Miss Lilith really ten years old? You always make people feel at ease and act very maturely."

Before she could finish speaking, the two who had just been bickering suddenly looked at her. Henry raised an eyebrow: "Girl, your intuition is pretty good."

Gu Li kicked him and manually muted his microphone.

She looked at Anneville: "I know what you're thinking. I did become who I am for a reason, but if you want to join my operation because of that..."

My answer is no.

Anneville's eyes dimmed.

Gu Li crossed her arms and gestured for Henry to leave with her: "It's not time to use you yet. He's right. Before things get completely chaotic, find a safe place with your friends."

They walked aside separately, and Henry, arms crossed, asked, "What do you need me to do?"

Gu Li: "I should be asking you what you're doing? You came in before me, but you're not in a hurry at all. What do you know?"

Henry's stern face always held a smile when he met Gu Li's gaze: "Haven't I told you yet that this look suits you very well?"

Gu Li rolled her eyes and turned to leave.

"Hey, wait a minute."

Henry reached out and grabbed her by the collar. At the same time, a small knife, still stained with blood, was pressed against his neck. Henry did not resist and let the knife cut his neck.

Gu Li's pupils suddenly contracted, and no blood flowed from the spot where Henry had been cut by the knife.

"you……"

Henry put her down: "I came here after the Red Bee incident, to investigate the Mystic Church... but I almost got killed."

His gaze fell on the void, his expression somewhat bewildered: "Even though I am already one of the top warriors in Grantham, I was completely powerless against that person."
