Chapter 25 Rescue and Lamentation

Even before leaving, Gu Li could smell the unique fishy smell of seafood. Just thinking that the smell was coming from these disgusting barnacles made Gu Li's stomach, which had just been filled, churn.

How disgusting.

It's like a piece of rotten meat that has been rotting and pickling in the deep sea for decades, and then crawls ashore to be exposed to the sun for forty-nine days.

Gu Li endured the stench that almost made her lose her sense of smell and tried to open the window, but she encountered some resistance on her paws.

As if sensing something, she slowly raised her eyes and met the fleshy mass that was slowly wriggling and sliding down from the top of the window.

Gu Li slowly withdrew her hand from the windowsill, the veins on the back of her hand bulging. She brought it to her mouth and bit it, the trickling blood gradually forming a long sword in her hand.

With a blank expression, Gu Li smashed the glass with her claw and took the opportunity to thrust her longsword out. She didn't care whether it was a waste or not; she definitely didn't want this blood sword.

The rotting flesh of the barnacles strung on the sword twitched. Gu Li, with a sour face, loosened his grip, and the longsword formed of congealed blood suddenly softened, throwing the monster hanging on it away.

She flapped her wings and flew out of the broken window. The clump of blood, like a crimson ribbon, circled between her claws and solidified into a longsword once more.

She held her breath and quickly looked around. There were more monsters around her than she had imagined. She used her longsword to clear away the barnacles blocking the church entrance.

Gu Li quickly flew away. Even though the street was overrun by barnacles, there was no reason why Eric and his group couldn't get through. She gently flapped her wings, searching for their trail in the city full of parasites and moss.

But as soon as they flew into the air, they could see the huge black fog in the east of the city that blocked all sight. The huge ominous fog was churning violently, and occasionally white whale bones could be seen struggling out of it.

Gu Li recalled what she had just witnessed. All the barnacles on the whale's body had disappeared. She had a bad feeling and flapped her wings to fly east of the city.

Sure enough, he saw barnacles clustered together on the road, and Levi blocked not far from the black mist. Gu Li's eyes lit up and he rushed straight towards them.

Levi had only recovered to half his original size, his body was pitted and uneven, and his unhealed flesh had a dark, dull color. Hearing the sound of something cutting through the air, he opened his eyes warily and looked over.

Gu Li quickly waved his claws, piercing through the barnacles near them: "Levi, why did you stop here!"

Levi was accompanied by several familiar high-level creatures, one of which had a belly so swollen it looked like it was about to burst. Gu Li's eyes twitched as he watched the tentacles peeking out of the creature's mouth.

"Where are the wounded...the wounded...could they all be inside his stomach?"

Levi's eyes lit up when he saw her. He waved his tentacles to let Gu Li land on his head, his tone full of relief: "Don't worry, they're all safe in Edson's belly. They just need to throw up within two hours."

Gu Li kept a straight face, trying her best not to let her thoughts wander to what would happen if it exceeded two hours. She skillfully flipped the crimson longsword in her hand into an arc and pierced a barnacle that was trying to approach from behind.

Listening to Levi's voice: "These barnacles are not strong on their own, but there are too many of them. If you get entangled by them, they will parasitize you, eating away at your flesh and strength, and they do so very quickly."

Levi gestured to the wounds on his body that were gradually healing, his tone irritated: "I almost got eaten alive without noticing. No wonder even that giant whale suddenly appeared. If it hadn't come out and found a place to grind down these barnacles, it probably wouldn't have survived much longer."

Gu Li thought for a moment, then exclaimed in shock, "That giant skeletal whale was actually eaten by this thing!"

Levi casually showed off his cheese stick-like tentacles: "Those things are deep-sea aliens, and unlike me, they don't have their own hands to pluck them off. Barnacles are their nemesis, so there's nothing strange about it."

"Most of them have taken refuge in the underground shopping mall. The wounded are mostly here. Let's try to get these people to the church first."

Levi flicked the liquid dripping from his wrist, and dozens of eyes turned to Gu Li, who was flying in mid-air. He hesitated, then asked, "How are you flying now?"

Gu Li instantly understood his meaning, resignedly landed, grabbed the two men's arms, and flapped his wings vigorously, trying to take off.

She held her breath, her head almost reaching the sky, her whole face straining as she lifted the two of them into the air.

Gu Li, panting, asked intermittently, "Did you...did you hear anything?"

Her response came from Levi, his voice filled with disgust and that of his brother, who was serving as a temporary storage space, and a hint of impending collapse.

"No, fly well."

"It's me! Something jumped onto my back!!"

Gu Li subconsciously looked down and met the barnacle that was slowly climbing up the back of the storage container, its skirt twitching. Her expression began to crumble.

"Levi...yue...move your tentacles, yue...that thing is coming at me, yue..."

Since she became like this, what impressed her most were these barnacles. The stench that seeped into her bones made her use all her willpower to hold onto the storage brother's claws and prevent her from shaking off the approaching barnacle.

The most terrifying thing was not discovering the barnacle that had followed them, but that the barnacles that almost surrounded the entire city seemed to be eagerly approaching.

Levi pierced the barnacle's body with the tip of his sword, and the barnacle's corpse fell down along with the corroded broadsword.

The giant octopus made a heart-wrenching gesture on its face: "My little octopus..."

Gu Li laboriously flew the two back to the church, threw them in from the second floor, and said with her hands on her hips, "Stop thinking about your sword. You two go find Cecil. I'll go check if there's anyone I've missed."

After saying that, she rushed out without looking back. This time, she cleverly increased her flight altitude, and she also carried the plastic megaphone that she had managed to sneak out of her home.

She turned on the recording from the loudspeaker and took herself on a tour of the entire alien city. Sure enough, her loud slogans attracted about a dozen aliens who hadn't had time to reunite with Levi.

The remaining people were sent back.

Gu Li cleared out a rooftop to rest on, and took the opportunity to observe the black fog that almost blocked half the sky in the distance.

She seemed to be deep in thought. The giant whale had lost most of its life force to these barnacles, and had no choice but to use the alien city as a tool to rub against the barnacles.

The giant whale occasionally burst out of the black mist in a fit of impotent rage. As expected, "King" gained the upper hand. Gu Li squatted on the roof, propping his chin up with his paws, his vertical pupils staring intently in that direction.

She was right; the battle was about to end.

Her wings flapped happily, and after regaining some strength, she got up and flew towards the church, but suddenly a sharp whooshing sound came from behind her.

At the same time, a huge roar filled with resentment erupted in the air.
