Amidst the dense gunfire, the sticky sounds emanating from the shadows were masked.
To make it easier for He Shiyi to absorb the nutrients, Gu Li mostly dealt with them one by one.
As the last alien was pierced to the ground by a sword, the dense gunfire gradually subsided, and she pulled He Shiyi's tentacle out of the spider-like alien's mouth.
Before she could even catch her breath, she looked up as if sensing something and saw pollution gradually gathering in the air above the center of the summoning circle, coalescing into a large, twisted black mass.
In the darkness, a pair of venomous eyes stared intently in her direction.
He Shiyi asked again with regret, "Aren't you sure you don't want a bite? These bugs aren't as good as the seafood ones, but the chicken ones are actually pretty good too."
Gu Li swung the long sword in his hand and walked towards the direction where everyone was, taking the leather suitcase that Julie handed him with shining eyes.
She pushed the pistol toward Julie: "Keep this gun for now, and... thank you."
When she meets Irwin later, she'll ask him if he can sell her the gun. If not, she'll find a way to give the girl one.
Julie looked flattered and delighted, clutching the gun: "I should be thanking you!"
Gu Li took out her cross from the suitcase. Levy had specially made a handle for her so that she could use it as a shield if necessary.
Since we're going to blame everything on the props, we should be more specific and make more use of them.
She sheathed her longsword and gestured for everyone to leave: "You made me realize that my decision to come back was the right one."
Gu Li casually placed the cross on the ground, pretending to show it to them, highlighting its exquisite patterns and mysterious textures.
She rested her elbows on the top of the cross and pointed outside: "Do you remember the way to the ferry crossing? My companions will be there soon, you go ahead."
She looked up and said calmly, "I'm afraid I still have some things to resolve with this person."
Many people have noticed the black fog gradually solidifying overhead, which is a manifestation of increased pollution concentration.
Julie caught a glimpse of those enormous eyes out of the corner of her eye, and her face paled. Countless incomprehensible murmurs swirled in her mind like wriggling worms.
A hand carrying a familiar fragrance suddenly grasped her neck, pulling her away from the gaze of those eyes. A warm current flowed down the back of her neck, and the chaotic sounds in her mind instantly disappeared.
The voice, seemingly muffled by a film of water, shouted indistinctly, "Get out of here! You've already been marked. Staying here will only make you its nourishment!"
Julie was pushed in front of someone by that hand. Before she could even sort out her thoughts, her body was already being carried away and running.
Everyone turned and ran towards the broken door, the terrifying aura emanating from the thing above them sending shivers down their spines.
They could only subconsciously obey Gu Li's words and desperately try to escape.
The insects in the black mist retreated and fled upon seeing their prey. The black gas surged angrily, transforming into a sharp arrow that shot towards the backs of the group.
Gu Li stopped in front of the gate. A bone whale emerged from her pocket and let out a pleasant groan, swirling around her.
The surging black mist was blocked by the bone whale's force field for a moment, then shrank back in shock.
It sensed death and the oppressive presence of a superior in that bone whale.
Gu Li finally had time to answer He Shiyi's question. The lingering pain spread through her body again. She frowned and said, "If I could choose, I would only choose the human diet. We don't have much time left, so hurry up."
He Shiyi: "What if I told you that eating it could speed up your recovery?"
Gu Li fell into a strange silence for a moment, then his gaze towards the insect above his head suddenly changed.
She licked her lips: "If you're not too disgusting, I'll go for you; if you're disgusting, you can go for yourself."
He Shiyi: ...
The enormous eye turned in the black mist for a while, then suddenly began to slowly retreat, and the eye began to slowly close.
He Shiyi: "It's going to run away."
Gu Li looked at the summoning circle beneath her feet, then observed the eyes that were gradually closing in the black mist.
He stood still, expressionless, and cursed with his face.
Could this thing have been scared away by the aura emanating from the bone whale?!
The black mist dissipated very quickly, and He Shiyi in his mind also fell silent.
Suddenly, Gu Li had a flash of inspiration and tentatively asked, "Could you..."
Before she could finish speaking, He Shiyi resolutely denied it: "No."
Gu Li blinked, reached out and yanked off her hairband, then threw it forcefully into the mist above.
“I also think we can’t let it go. Go, Pikachu.”
Hundreds of corpses still hung in the sky above the hall, their bright red blood seemingly endless, falling like a drizzling red rain from the sky.
She lowered her blue eyes again, her gaze filled with indifference. So many people had died, and she still wanted to walk away so easily?
He Shiyi instantly spread his body out and reached into the black mist to entwine with the insect.
The black mist churned violently, and the enormous black shadow could evoke the deepest, most indescribable fear in people's hearts. Unable to withstand it, the insect finally revealed its true form.
It was a huge crustacean, its body covered with ring-shaped segments, the sharp tips of which gleamed with a scarlet luster.
Its lower body was hidden in the black mist, and occasionally, as it struggled, it could catch a glimpse of its scale-covered tail, which violently thrashed at the scattered mist.
On that huge, protruding insect face were fine, fibrous lines, like a mummified corpse that had been decaying for hundreds of years.
It also smells a bit bad.
